This isn’t directed towards you but. Why don’t people try to remove the original scars from most textures? It’s not overly difficult at this resolution. It’s not like they’re huge and you don’t have room for error.

I made 3 M.Bisons using the cos file from Lepardo’s subzero mod so make sure to download that mod and at least use cos so it looks right

I plan to do more resident evil, castlevania and comic book stuff, I wanna try to do the Vega/claw wolverine someone requested. also is anyone working HnK skins? I might do Raoh and Ken as Abel (shin as claw?).

Has anyone thought of which character would make the best mod for a Godhand retexture?
I think Dan’s animations would be great, but he is wearing a gi. I guess the boxer’s alt costume robe could be fashioned into coat tails like GH has, but the frame and build of the two are too different.

It’s not a difficult thing to remove the scar but I kept it on purpose to remember everyone that being a saint is a difficult and sometimes dangerous path

thanks for the encouragement, fellas. I intend to do Thing Zangief as coco_j suggested, but I’m not sure if I can pull off a respectable Human Torch. I considered using Seth for one, but Ken has the vfx for it…

mostly just in the last couple of pages. I’ll give you a quick rundown, though:

It’s basically a 2-part process: editing the .dds textures and then hex-editing the .col.emz file.

For the first part, most (all?) of the textures (represented by the .dds files) contain what is called an ‘alpha’ channel, which is used for transparency. Transparency is represented by the black and gray checker pattern that you’ve probably come across while erasing things in the .dds files. So, just edit the file in Photoshop or GIMP with whatever areas erased that you want semi- or fully transparent, save as you would any .dds texture (DXT5, create mipmaps, etc) and infuse the texture back into the .dat file and rename it to *.col.emz.

Then, open that *.col.emz file with your hex editor of choice. Each of the character’s body elements will have its own section where its attributes are represented in codes (skull, neck ring, body skin, etc. for Dhalsim). To enable the alpha channel in each section, you can replace any of the 40-character subsections that start with “Brush” (e.g., BrushA, BrushB, etc.) with the commands for transparency that are mentioned in this post:

Now, the tricky part is that you CANNOT change the size (i.e., number of characters) in the file, so be careful as you replace. I had good luck with replacing BrushA, BrushB, and BrushC with the combination of AlphaBlend, AlphaBlendTest, and BackFace for partial transparency and gradients and AlphaTest for full transparency.

It’s a tedious process made much easier with find+replace. In my experience, it’s okay to put the transparency command into ALL sections, as it will only affect empty spots (black and gray checkerboard pattern) anyway. Someone may correct me on that, but it’s worked for me so far…

You just need to find an alternate skin pack that will overwrite the first character model, example CNL.01.cos.emz that is Chun Li’s elegant dress. Make sure you make a copy of your original files so you can use original costume mods…
