Meh, the Japanese don’t trutle as much as you guys think. Turtling is largely character based, so you’ll see a lot of akumas, vegas, chuns, etc. turtling, while you can also see lots of bisons, sagats, kens, balrgons, etc. rushing. Not to say that people have to play those characters to fit within that certain playstyle, but that’s just how they’re designed.
Iyo? As in the same Iyo who plays Dhalsim/Maki in CVS2. He has a really good Dhalsim in that game. I would like to see him playing Dhalsim in SF4, because he is quite experienced with that character.
So Momochi is ranked 1st in BP… cool, cause this guy can turtle like I’ve never seen before.
And RF, the GG player right? God, GG is losing so much popularity… I don’t see vids of that game anymore.
PS: I already posted those. =P

i like the talk about sf4 being more "turtle-y"
i was just reading an article from when sf4 was announced, and ono was trying to make the game more offensive and “aggressive”
Yeah, Ono guessed wrong on that one. I mean, both characters have Ultra meter built up. Some of the cast can juggle into Ultra or combo into it. I mean, seriously, are you GOING to move forward on that? Probably not. Especially if it’s a good player.
Let’s hope in their next patch they make it that the Ultra either runs out like in K groove, or the damage is reduced after sitting on it for so long.
That way it’ll force the person with ultra to be more aggressive once he posess it. Obvious characters like Dhalsim can just throw his out and wish for the best.
HMM… I was thinking the exact same thing just the other day… You have to be sooooo patient in this game. It’s fun to rush down but damn do you have to be careful.
Ono’s idea was that ultras and FA cancels would create a system where anyone could win at any time; never give up!
The problem is that if your ultra combo doesn’t KO your opponent, you’ve set them up for their own ultra. Hence, turtling. It’s a disadvantage to be the first one to use an ultra, since there is a good probability that you’ll get ultra’d back.
However, is this really a game design flaw, or is it just the current adaptation to the game’s strategy? Every game has gone through this phase, and honestly, with the home version on the horizon, I don’t even think it’s a question worth answering.
also a lot of the vids people are watching are japanese, and japanese players learn defense and their best combos first, as their basic foundation for winning.
