SF4 Gameplay Video Link Thread

If you have Firefox, you can download an extension called Video Downloadhelper. You have to click “play” on the video before a link is available for download. Be sure to navigate to a different page once you hit download because the site won’t allow you to watch the video and download at the same time.
The video is in .flv format, not .avi. Maybe youtube accepts .flv? I’m downloading one video right now to see if it actually plays.

Edit: Yup, it works. You just need to cut it down to under 10 minutes for those longer videos since youtube doesn’t accept videos longer than 10 minutes.

You can pay big time for making a mistake in this game. Most people just prefer to play cautiously, rather than rush in and then get punished. I’ve had to adapt my playstyle as well to this as well (you know those a-cho guys - I have to play against them), and I’m winning a lot more matches by playing it safe and creating opportunities rather than giving my opponent chances to hit me.

The only character who can really get in a good rushdown universally is Rufus, I think. Chun and Akuma can also bully certain characters fairly well.

If there is a problem on the forums, PM A MOD. Don’t just sit here and say that the mods should blah blah blah. I don’t surf through every thread 24/7.

Having meter gives you more options. Why would it be a bad thing to be able to build meter in a reasonable way?

Also to the person who responded to me, it seems like a lot of whiffed dps are punished with not a whole lot except a sweep or cr.mk xx fireball. I guess my background in 3s just tells me that whiffed shoryus should be punished by a big combo with almost every character. I suppose it can be punished by ultra near the end of the match, but I haven’t seen it happen too much (maybe startup on ultra is too slow?). The only people who consistently punish with ultra are those with “for free” launchers like Abel, Rufus, Sagat, and Balrog, who can set up an ultra without any EX use.

I’m talking without having played the game, so if I’m wrong, please enlighten me!

Well jump back hurricanes charge an insanely small amount of meter. Looks like less than 1/10th of a stock.

Personally I think specials should charge more meter, it is really tough to even get your super up in the first round.

All Zangief needs in that last video is a Hells Angels jacket.

Meter building feels quite slow in this game to be honest. Then again I play 3S and meter builds pathetically fast.

And I guess using Vega has something else to do with it, since he can’t build meter to save his life.

meter builds slower in sf4 than in any other sf i’ve played…until you get hit with a raging demon.

It’s not like EX moves and super moves are so gamebreaking that you should have to take risks to get them. Besides, meter for whiffed normals was already a good way of encouraging aggressiveness. Taking out meter for whiffed specials would just ruin it. Even in Guilty Gear, where they REALLY want you to play aggressive (you get a penalty for just sitting back and doing nothing or using specials) you get meter for whiffing a special.

i dont play claw but doesnt it seem like its easy for him to build meter? just wall dives all day on the other side of the screen.

It gives a REALLY tiny amount of meter. Like, the smallest amount possible.

That and it’s slow. As well as leaving you open for an attack.

If he could just keep doing flips like in ST, then he’d arguably be the most annoying character to fight, ever :smiley:

it already a very non aggressive game…if we could wiff pokes to get meter then there would be almost no reason to attack…can u imagine dhalsim just wiffing his down back strong to gain meter or how about sagat wiffing a button after every fire ball…giving him access to more focus cancels…more random tiger uppercuts that are safe.

Just cause you don’t build meter by whiffing normals, doesn’t mean this game encourages offense
