Can you link a light tatsu off the same chain combo?
Yeah, and that’s a very important one to learn for every Akuma IMO, to turn light punches into 250+ damage.
Sorry to keep harping on but in this post of the thread: http://forums.shoryuken.com/showpost.php?p=6198131&postcount=28
My understanding would be that combo has to go c.lp-c.lp,c.lp, dp + lp because you can’t link out of a chain??? Or is it simply you can its just hard to time so you better off always want to link the last hit so you can cancel? Is that the theory? Just after some clarification on these fundamentals, they seem pretty important.
you can’t link a lk tatsu off a jab. you cancel it. in order to cancel it the last jab needs to be linked from the previous one, not chained.
you can link a shoryuken off a jab, whether the jabs been chained or not.
Ah is that because its an instant attack? Thanks for that btw.
i don’t know if anyone cares… or if it was even already said. But you can do a HP SRK after a MK or HK tatsu if only the second/third hit connects respectively. It hits for only 2 hits… but it might have some use for getting through fireballs and doing 150 damage for your trouble which is better than nothing right?
honestly not much use… but yea. It also combos after a EX air fb in the corner… but… that a complete waste of a ex air fb connecting…lol.
Can someone explain this standing HK to standing LP loop thing to me? Does it only work on Zangief? I heard about it and tried it in training (on a shoto) and it didn’t work. Does it work on more characters, and is the damage worth it (or is it like Abel’s loop combo that really is too much work to be worth the trouble)?
the loop works on any character, i usually do a hk sLp hk sLp bnb
i have done a 14 hit combo with just hk > sLp
the c.lp x3 into tatsu im havin a lil bit of trouble on im linking all the crouching jabs by delaying them so that they link but still combo but im having trouble getting the tatsu consistantly is there something im missing? possibly going to neutral after the last jab then back down for the tatsu motion>?
^^^
havent tried that one, but I have c.lp, c.lp, c.mp down and it rarely misses. I’d try that one maybe? the loink from c.lp to c.mp is at a pace where you can tap the whole thing at about the same rate…iono, works very well for me.
And it’ll do more that c.lpX3 so you may as well upgrade…
I’ve actually found it the opposite, the c.MP misses a lot for me when I hit it at the same pace. To me I can link the c.MP only when I consciously delay the button press slightly.
As for 3x c.LP, if you’re not getting the tatsu then you’re probably hitting them slightly too fast, and chaining them. Just work on the timing, try a metronome.
VERY newbie question:
s.HK, c.LP, qcb LK and s.HK, c.MP, qcb LK
i’m guessing u only use the 2nd one if u think ur a bit far from the target?
you take what you can get damnit. the lp is easier to link with kara linking.

How do I pull that sweep and combo off of the demon flip? I always thought that the demon flip sweep would knock down my opponent.
To ^^^^ He didn’t actually do a trip. If you look carefully during his jump you can see akuma stick his hand out a little. That means that Momochi used the punch from demon flip to drop down and then he simply used (looks like a c.mk to me) and combo-ed from it
Actually the opposite. Even though the MP has a longer range, it throws the target back more so you actually have to be closer to use it and still connect with the qcb LK. The LP has close to no knockback with it so if you are close enough to hit with it then it always works.
The MP does more damage which is why it is more preferable to use if you are able to.
yeah he cancelled the roll sweep thing and just did a medium sweep combo instead
Didnt notice that detail, nice trick!
yea… he demon flipped originally as a follow-up to get in with the fireball as a defense against an anti-air, and once he saw that it hit he decided to drop down and combo He’d have done better to have used HP instead of c.mk but I’m pretty certain he was being safe in case daigo was able to get out of the hit stun fast enough so that a mid-hit would have been blocked easily.
Can DP+LP -> FADC, HCB+HP hit on it own on a standing character or must I have a QCB+LK 1st for the fireball to hit at the end? I’ve been trying to learn the FADC into HCB+HP against a doll in the corner of a stage but the fireball has never hit using :lp: LP.
Motion i’m doing is: :dp::r:+:lp:, :mp:+:mk:(hold),:r::hcb:+:hp:
Been trying to learn in stages as i’m struggleing with the FADC.
I’ve tried to train myself but doing this motion 1st
:mp:+:mk:(hold),:r:,:r:,:hcb:+:hp:
Then cutting out one of the :r: to give just :
:mp:+:mk:(hold),:r:,:hcb:+:hp:
and then doing the whole thing. I can do the FADC into Fireball on its own but don’t know if I should be practicing it with a :hp: HP DP instead?
Also have been trying to delay the :r: of the DP to be after the dp execute to remove another motion but its really tight timing wise so far. Been practicing about an hour so far tonight just on this.
Best execution: ?
:dp:+:lp:, :r:, :mp:+:mk:(hold),:hcb:+:hp:
