Yeah, I mean, top players always place top, because you know, it doesn’t require skill. Valle, Wong and them they’re good at it cause you know, they’re slow/disabled and are really good at doing random shit.
How’s about more talk is why the game is popular rather than why you do or don’t like it.
^2nded with Rocklee, otherwise this thread gets closed, shit is stupid. noone asked whether you liked the game or not, were talking about why it’s popular in the usa. we already hd a bitchfest about parrying a few months back.
3rd Strike became popular because humans just recently evolved to produce a better guessing gene.
I think its popular because its noob friendly while allowing the skilled opponent to win(To an extent)
If you lose to a scrub in this game you probably deserved it.
Man… went to Einstein’s the other day and played some kids at 3s, so crazy! They’re not so good at the basics of 2d fighting but they can parry like a motherfucker… Man alive that’s weird to see. Also a lot of eye rolling and “uggh whatever.” when they lost to my Hugo…I was waiting for a throws are cheap or Hugo is overpowered comment…love that.
And lets me really honest, the reason 3s wasn’t popular for the longest time is the top players in Cali didn’t like it and thus it didn’t get played.
Oh and for my OG cred I was in a World Warrior “tournament” at Fame City Waterworks in Houston, I played Zangief and lost…but a Blanka player won…to give you an idea of how early on that was.
This thread has turned into the funeral for SF2, didn’t you know? That’s why everyone is bitching and crying.
Agreed. I tried opening an interesting door on the subject around page 5, but it feel like the majority in the thread wound up kicking it closed in my face.
The kids these days, they like to scream at each other. I prefer the old school style of discussion, but whatever. Screaming is just so much more flashy and attracts the crowd of kids that weren’t even born when talking was the norm. All this screaming has ruined what discussion use to be back in the days, where we use to talk at normal levels and on topic at 7-11 after school. I resent the younger generation and their screaming habit, which lacks the substance of old school talking. Anything else the younger generations wants to ruin for us old schoolers? How about hamburgers or sex?
I think the main reason
People remember playing Street Fighter 2 in the arcades and on thier snes/genesis back in the day, most of these players just stopped with fighting games after SF2 era came and went. So when they see SFAC out on Ps2 and xbox it no doubt would have brang back alot of good memories
Also you gotta remember alot of guys been out of the scene so long they probably didn’t even know there was a street fighter 3 series. So when SFAC with 3s came out on ps2 and xbox it would have been like a brand new game for alot of people.
Whichever pussyole negged me for liking 3S, calling me a scrub. Enlighten me as to which game you play, so I can proceed to beat you at it.
EDIT: Sorry to stray, or seem like I took offense to the random negative rep but I found it pretty whack and uncalled for.
this describes most fighting games.
Bitching about rep = loser.
Wasn’t the rep, I could care less about the green bars, red bars, points and all that rot. But the anonymous comment, all cause I like something? lol
Well the reason 3s is so popular is becuase its new, and not a crap game.
3s is not new, its about 8 years old, its more dare i say, retro/classic/vintage?
Your half right though in saying 3s is not a crap game. But its not a great game either, its game mechanics, character designs and especially its worthiness of as a competitive tournament game are all questionable. IMO, there are many other fighting games that deserve to be as big as 3s, but cause they aren’t called street fighter and have Ryu in it, they never will be.
If 3s had been called anything else other than Street fighter and didn’t have any of the old sf cast in it, no one would be playing it, and you can quote me on that!
Wrong. A small group of people would be playing it, complaining that the only reason nobody likes their underappreciated game is because it isn’t called Street Fighter and doesn’t have Ryu in it.
And the rest of us would say “tough shit! We don’t like parry, we don’t like whiffing normals to build meter, we don’t like how its a 1 character show (no chun and ken, so it would be all about Yun), and we don’t like the crappy character designs. Giant Smurf sporting a thong anyone?”
ibl.
Correction: We didn’t want to “be” like the Japanese, we wanted to “beat” them. We’re Americans, we like winning.
I was just about to ask the samething.
