Yeah. Yun vs Yun is an incredibly balanced game. I dont really care for which game is better, since its all a matter of personal taste, but thinking that japanese are some kind of supreme beings is almost racist. But since you are american, it is just not clever.

Seriously. I am not even reading anymore. They played CFJ and AE at SBO, and trying to say MvC2 is broken when every singles 3S tourney cant get more than 4 characters at top 8 or when Eddie has nit a single bad matchup at the newest ultra improved GG is just pure hate. If you dont play VF, you really cant brag about how not broken your game is. Unless by not broken you mean too simple, like parries that allows you lots and lots frames to execute it, with only a single super per character and no team chemistry or strategy whatsoever. If thats your definition of not broken, I guess you are right.

Random games are the games that generate random results. Think what you want from that.

Sometimes I wish 3S didn’t have the name Street Fighter before it. I think it would help clear a lot of needless hate between "OG"s and “New School” players.

Anyways, on the subject, I’m not a huge 3S fan, not because it’s not a “real” street fighter, not because it’s a bad game, it’s good, but because people dickride it more than any other game as though there’s nothing wrong it, all while refusing to play anything else. That and the excessive obsession with Japanese players amongst some 3s heads.

SF3 in general originally didn’t have the name Street Fighter in it, well sorta. It was called THREE: A New Generation of Street Fighters for awhile, before it reverted back to SF3: New Generation.

Third Strike is the best fighting game. People always sleep on things that are way ahead of their time, look at the dreamcast. I stopped playing SF after sf2 turbo because the games seemed to be getting less cool and less fun, it wasn’t untill about a year after 3s’s US release that I realized what capcom had done, and it wasn’t untill after a few years of playing 3s that I finally realized I enjoy it more than sf2 turbo.

Going to Einstein’s years ago when it was full of people playing 3s really had an impact on me, I didn’t realize at the time how much of a rare treat the 3s atmosphere would be. I’ll never get tired of seeing mopreme or hsien beat people in 3s.

I actually agree with you on what youre saying tho, but damn chill. Some of the SAME OG’s that do hate sf3 also play it competively. It is what it is.

at least people cant say the game is skillless…just a different beast altogether… being in one of the sf3 hotspots when the game was unpopular everywhere else round the usa.

I find it really funny when people try to defend MVC2 by saying Japs play broken games, like HNK. Japs only play broken shit when its at SBO, as soon as its over the games fade away. I guarantee if MVC2 made it to SBO one year, everyone would play it in Japan, as soon as SBO was over though, game would fade away just like all the other broken games.

Also its not only the Japs who don’t play MVC2, its everyone. Only America insists on playing a game thats limits you to little over a handful of viable competitive characters. Its just not fun in that respect.

Anyway enough about MVC2, this is about 3s. Thought i’d mix things up abit and bring in the UK perspective.

3s gets hated on just as much here in the UK as it does in US, but its not so much to do with the game itself. Sure theres always gonna debate about the quality of the gameplay, such as parry, tiers, whiffing normals to build meter, etc. But its good that 3s plays different, if it played like ST or A3 then what would be the point in playing it at all. People need to accept that 3s isn’t like other street fighter games, and move on. I don’t like how 3s plays, so i don’t play it, i concentrate on the games i do play.

Anyway coming back to why the 3s community gets hated on in the UK is not because of the gameplay its cause of its community. I think alot of people would sum up the 3s community with 3 words “Lack of Respect”. Now i know quite a few 3s players, alot of them very cool guys, and i have mad respect for them keeping their scene alive, continuously growing all the time. I think there are 4 seperate ranking battles being run in the UK atm, 3 of them in London, When there are big tournaments they come in numbers to support their game, which is great.

However at times it seems like they forget other games exist. Like at our last major, during the Guilty Gear finals, there was side 3s team tournament right next to where the finals for all the games take place. Now this wouldn’t normally be a problem, but 90% of drama in the UK scene comes from 3s, its our biggest game here with the exception of Tekken (but they don’t come tournaments, which is a whole other bitchfest in itself), so you can probably imagine what watching the guilty gear finals is like.

Also little bit of a misconception here in the UK is that all 3s players only care about and play 3s. This isn’t strictly true, but it does seem that way alot of the time. Most of them don’t even post at UK equivalent of SRK, they have their own site, segregating themselves, and at events they hog setups, forcing smaller communities to play on smaller tvs.

And thats basically how 3s in the UK is viewed by some.

There are a lot of reasons that fighting games aren’t what they used to be. The death of arcades, the fact that people don’t want 2d games on their consoles, and so forth. One of them in my opinion, is the elitist aspect of fighting games. A lot of this stems from the competitive nature intrinsic to the genre itself, but really it just ends up diminishing what’s left of us. What difference does it make if you’re the bset at a game that nobody plays or cares about? If people in the scene do nothing but bicker and bitch and be negative there won’t be anyone left.

I honestly do not understand the hate for the game at all, or at least people’s behavior regarding it. We don’t have this kind of thing for any other game. It doesn’t harm you at all for someone else to enjoy a game, so why the hell should you go out of your way to shit on them. If you like broken shitty games then that is your choice (not that that’s what I consider 3s). Even if you consider it a crap game, it’s pretty petty to get all worked up over it and rub it in someone’s face all the time. It just sounds really whiny and stupid. No other game has so many people trying to spread hate for it like 3s.

I don’t like halo, in fact I think it is a garbage game. However, millions of people think it is the greatest game ever. Why? Probably because they’ve never played a shooter before or had a pc. I used to do all this stupid arguing crap with them over how uninspired and unoriginal the game is. You know what though? What difference does it make? I can just as easily say “you know it’s not really my thing, but more power to you”, and everyone wins, right?

As for the comment the previous poster made about “lack of respect”, I’ve noticed that as well, and I’m pretty sure it’s easy to explain. When you enter a scene and everyone shits on you, how respectful are you going to be?

I like the artwork, I saw the daigo video, and I had never seriously played a fighting game before. I really couldn’t care less though. I’ve been getting into ST, GG, VF, and some others. I’d like to learn just about any fighting game. So complain what you want but I think having more people interested in fighting games for ANY reason is a positive thing.

I can see people flaming me for this post already, but then again being pro 3s is some sort of crime to begin with, so meh.

I dont Like DoA, 3D MK games, so I stay the fuck away from them. Why cant the 3S haters(or haters of any other game) do the same?
