Good thing I said SEQUEL so nobody would misunderstand. Do you read, or just look at words and instead make educated guesses at what people are talking about? You obviously don’t know my post history so don’t lump me in with posers. We all know the reasons behind updates(which, oddly enough, aren’t SEQUELS). You’re pussy-footing around the subject. SF2 as an entire entity(WW,CE,HF,Super,ST) was a phenomenon and Capcom decided that for the SEQUEL they would ruin SF by making the antithesis of SF2 and calling it a SEQUEL. Are the true meaning of these words making it to your brain or do you just see “I’m I337 cuz I hate 3s dur!”?

rioting soul, you’re a dumbass. the antithesis of sf2? because they decided to add a parry system and some new characters? maybe you could consider parrying a means to fix issues with projectile spamming. maybe new characters because the old ones were getting a bit stale. what do you think of games with just defense? what is your opinion of the alpha series? BTW, stop misusing vocabulary words and take your own advice and try reading the posts you’re replying to. I expect an equally ignorant reply from you for this post.

this was never a “problem” in sf2 to begin with and even less so in the alpha series and uh pretty much every other fighting game and none of them had to resort to a mechanic that dumbs down the game to achieve it

My Problem is just that you state YOUR problems with SF3 gameplay as accepted fact.

The reason for that is all the SF before SF3, characters’ offensive option are very limited. But SF3 needs parrying otherwise it would be a really stupid game.

Capcom ruined the greatest game ever by making that shitty sequel. Of course I’m talking about the glitch plagued, unplayable mess that was Street Fighter 2: WW … Why did they mess with the perfection that was the TRUE OG, Street Fighter.

Seriously, shut the fuck up. all of you. SF2 and SF3 can both exist on the same plane of reality and not cause a wormhole or paradox… Calm the fuck down… You don’t like ST? Cool DON’T PLAY IT…You don’t like 3S? COOL DON’T PLAY IT…this is not complicated shit.

People have a problem with it, particularly the anti-3S group, because the words “Street Fighter” is in the title. Gameplay aside, it’s the actual title that is getting people upset. Just think about that for a moment…

The point I was trying to make is that if you want to claim the OG STREET FIGHTER name then Play Sf1, that’s the original. SF2 was a sequel and was VERY different than the original, so it :wow: MAKES SENSE :wow: that SF3 would be really different than SF2

Very limited offensive options in ST? I don’t think so.

The different games simply offer different options… for example 3S has many overheads/unblockable setups, but ST on its side has the very effective fireballs and tick traps.

Actually alpha counters can be baited and punished on reaction(as opposed to guessing if they missed a parry).

You’re making comparisons to games that may have did better based on the sources you have not provided as if that means SF2 wasn’t a large success. “Game X made 50 billion dollars but Game Y made 70 billion so Game X wasn’t successful”. And yeah, I posted that I was a 3s hater so that it was out in the open and there would be no misunderstanding of my tone.

If you believe my opinion on SF3’s gameplay not living up to the SF2 standard is flawed then please explain to me in length how SF3 is more deep than SF2. Or you could just avert the focus of this argument like MANY others before you.

If I ever gave off the impression that I am being ignorant then I apologize. From my perspective, you appear to be the ignorant one. It is my belief that SF2 had no issues with projectile spamming as there were already good enough solutions to that problem such as:

-jab dp/Hurricane Kick
-Buffalo Headbutt/Turn Punch
-Lariat/Banishing Flat
-Dee Jay short up kick/Slide
-Blanka Hop/Slide(correct me if I am wrong)
-Dhalsim triangle jump/slide
-T.Hawk Dive
-Honda Butt Smash
-Jumping
-Super

I enjoy just defense because it doesn’t limit offensive options nearly as much but it is still a valuable defensive option. If a player JDs in the air then they are knocked higher into the air. You nullify the attack and receive health, but you are still in potential danger. Also, you get less frame advantage. Not enough to obliterate a guy for doing cr.short, but enough.

I enjoy the Alpha series sans A2 blow out into 70%dmg(Rolento) and A3 infinites.

You seem to be oblivious to the deeper mechanics of SF2 and possibly even SF3, I may be wrong about this but all I can do is continue as if this is the case. If you intend to use O.Sagat as your example of projectile spamming, keep in mind that New Sagat sucks because his Tiger Uppercut was nerfed.

It has nothing to do with the new characters and it isn’t JUST about parry. It’s also the throwing system.

I never said SF3 was more deep than SF2, I don’t think putting a countering system in a game makes it more or less stupid than other games. Do countering systems in other games make them also as ‘less deep’ as ST? Like the Fatal Fury Line System, MOTW’s Just defend, KOF’s Dodge and Rolls, MvC2 Pushblock, SFA3 V-ism Activation, and Guility Gear’s… well everything. Guess SF3 and all of them must be shit, cause… well they aren’t puuure StreetFighter II OG… yeah that’s it.

I guess they must be all un-deep games too, because they offer almost universal counters to attacks, instead of JUST blocking, jumping, and specific special/super invinciblity.

its pretty fucking obvious the problem with parry isnt that its a universa defensive option but the ridiculously unbalanced risk/reward it possesses which is pretty much incomparable to anything in any other game
