is that your final answer?
Ummm… aren’t both Ibuki and Yun in CVS2?
-SynikaL
(could be wrong, I hate that game)

Judging from the guys’ post before mine, I’m probably right.
Yun’s in CvS2 but is completely different. That’s what JALbert meant. Also, P-Groove is fundamentally different from 3S.
Not only was Yun in CVS 2 but Chun’s CVS 2 is her 3S incarnation.
Also I have found in 3S Chun is becoming fav mainly because I have started to turtle a lot more.
I use to use Ken but I never quite master him because I would use
Jump in Neck Kick, Standing forward to low roundhouse to hurricane on wake up. Or jump punch, standing forward, syoryuken (or shoryureppa). But then I started getting my ass handed to me. And I could never master the rush in. So Turtle Chun is working well for me right now.
This thread is ALIVE! Anyways I gotta agree with JALbert on all accounts. Sure Capcom could’ve put more characters from SF2/Alpha/whatever, but why live in the past. Yeah this worked against Capcom’s advantage but I appluad them for doing this. I remember when I showed my friends SF3 NG and DI for the first time when I had the DC. Before I did, one of my friends asked “When is Capcom gonna make a Street Fighter 3?” I was like “Dude they did” and popped it in. They were floored by the graphics but they both bitched about not having Guile, Blanka and such. I just said “If they did keep the characters in there you would be bitching about Capcom not doing anything new” which I know people would, instead we get people wishing they didn’t do something new with characters. It’s a lose-lose situation.
When did you play the Xbox version?
I know several players, myself included, who play other games (ST, CvS2, A3, GGXX) but couldn’t get into 3s because there wasn’t a character they could attach themselves to.
- Uhh, I didnt have any problem attaching myself to a character in 3s. Why treat it any differently from some other game, sf3 characters are just jumbled up sf2 characters changed to fit the game more. Theres just as much diversity, and more than the stereotypical SF2 characters. Too bad picking the character you want will give you barely any options if its low tier…
I dont understand much of the gripe about the oldschool chars… a gay frenchman or a monkeyman pilot
shrug
fools complain whining. unfortunately more fools than not, so they win.
third strike is masterpiece.
I didn’t mean the character designs, I meant the characters’ fighting styles. The SF3 character designs are among Capcom’s finest. I was talking about trying to find a character who’s playstyle accommidated to me.
I wouldn’t have brought this up, but I’ve had several other players say the same thing. I hear that as the reason someone doesn’t like/play 3s as much as I hear “I don’t like the way the game plays.” As a comparison I rarely hear someone say they don’t like Guilty Gear or Alpha 3 because they couldn’t find a character. Usually it is because they don’t like the actual game engine itself (GG being a crackhead game and A3 having V-ism and juggling).
As for myself, I didn’t have as much difficulty locking on to a character in A3 or GG as I did in 3s. I have found a few characters who play a style I’m comfortable with. It was just a more difficult process than picking up new characters in other games.
It really is a double edged sword for Capcom. Keep everyone and people will complain about lack of diversity. Drop everyone (which I still think they should have done) and people will complain about the old cast being gone.
Was that directed to me? :xeye:
2i or 3s? or both
This just occured to me while playing DC 2i last night. Much of what i think capcom could have improved on in 3s, was already there in 2i!
Off the top of my head -
Older backgrounds which were better (alex stands out cause he shares a bg with Ken in 3s, Ibuki’s is so much better with heaps of detail. A few likes Ken’s, Ryu’s and Hugo’s in 2i are also good but i’d prefer their 3s equivs i think.
Main thing for me, at least on the home versions, is the speed. I like 2i on Turbo1 (not too fast to make it crazy, and just the right speed to make it a touch smoother to play). 3s sometimes feels delayed or held back, possibly so it’s easier to read attacks for parrying etc? I dunno, i think slower is better for strategy but speed is better for just out and out fun. All i would have liked is the option!
One last thing i preferred was 2i (and NG) both had after fight quotes and character art, much like SF2. Also, the intro to 2i reminded me of SF2’s (going up the brick wall/building), so i felt it was a better continuation of the series. Other than this, 3s’s presentation is better than 2i, as is the music.
Any major agreements/disagreements? I’d be interested to know - i really wish capcom would put a turbo setting in 3s for xbox!
You got your ass handed to you cos those are horrible setups or whatever you’re trying to accomplish.
standing forward to low roundhouse?!
CvS2 3S borrowed chars are NOT(notice the capitals) their 3S versions, they’re bastardized versions of their 3S selves.
-Yun-
Divekicks raped
Slower
No SA3(for good reason, but still…)
WTF is with the tag supers(Yang SA1 is worthless in CvS2, one of the most worthless moves in the game)
Have fun trying to get in on anyone with his even more pathetic range
The engine works against him instead of for him
-Chun-
No :d::mk:. Not that I’m complaining…
c.MP is cancellable
Different good pokes
All of her specials are different from 3S(visually and effectively)
All in all, she’s a completely different threat. Not AS mindless as 3S Chun is.
of course they do, we are the CONSUMERS, we put food on their tables. Any company on their right mind should serve to improve their product and not alienate the consumer.
We went to the theaters to watch the Street Fighter movie starring Jean-Claude Van Damme despite the fact that it was possibly the greatest insult to cinema.
We buy Street Fighter merchandise and buy Street Fighter comics and Street Fighter videos, despite the fact that Capcom was too lazy to even bother streamlining and getting their story straight on the character backgrounds and official storylines.
As for 3s, it’s great the way it is, I won’t change a thing…Although a quarter per credit for every single 3s machine would be great.
No, Resident Evil/Viewtiful Joe/Megaman/Devil May Cry fans put food on their tables. They don’t give nearly as much a shit about fighting game fans, and for good reason.
And we have a winner.
What do you mean, master Yoda?
not play SF3 because no guile/blanka is foolish. Capcom lose $$$, I lose future with ill fighters. Fools get instantly gratified by new wave of crap. They win. Superiority submitting to mainstream popularity.
your little blue mogwai is cute timestop. But so am I: http://www.hotornot.com/r/?eid=KQRRKSR&key=JBV
Thank you for your insightful gameplay changes. Oh wait, there weren’t any.
Yeah, CvS2 Yun is a hella crappy low tier that plays nothing like 3s Yun.
<-------- third strike fanboy
anyways I just saw this thread so I thought id give my 2pence.
In terms of visuals, I think as people have said 2I was better. Elenas one at night was particularly beautiful and I still feel is one of the best backgroumds I have seen ever! They should have kept that and improved a lot of the others and NOT had shared backgrounds. As well as individual backgrounds, I think they should change scenes as well, kinda like how certain stages do in 2I but have like 3 to 4 different scenes for each character. Since im bored and cant sleep, I decided to write a list of crap which for some reason I feel might be amusing to you lots. Ill write how the game could be further balanced IMO and the 4 scenes in each stage of characters (most from 2I). Ill add a D for dynamic in which the stage changes as the round goes on, and not just after the round.

Sorry for the long post I just like this game a lot. Hope it was a nice read for you guys.
No, get it right, it was Close Forward -> c.Roundhouse XX Hurricane. It’s not that hard, on system direction(except for the “close” forward). In the arcade, however…
Excuse me Jalbert, I forgot about the parried projectiles not giving meter to the user. Wow. And I see now that adding Sagat to SF3 would only be adding one more unbelievable top tier. But wouldn’t four top tiers be more balanced than 3 top tiers?
