sf2ce

Things look a lot better and superior when you’re looking at them through fanboy glasses.

HF is fine, sure. If you’re not good enough for CE

We had a really strong Street Fighter II scene here until Hyperfighting came along. It completely divided the community in half and it just was never really the same. I see it still has that effect on people. They’re both fine games, really. Never understood the appeal of turbo speed, though.

Substitute “Street Fighter II” for “ST” and “Hyperfighting” for “HDR” and you have the current events for old school SF.

Seriously though, CE is for people who have old man reflexes.

I can see why he says HF is for weaker players though. Even though HF is faster, they toned down some of the really dumb shit in CE. I guess in Asia the appeal in CE is to really push yourself to find your own way around Guile’s insane zoning game, Bison’s scissor kick loops, Ryu’s insane damage and dizzy potential etc. I still find it amazing how some CE players make it look so easy to reversal through Bison’s loops. HF is clearly the more balanced version though.

It’s because they have all the time in the world to do it due to the slow game speed. Try to get out of that shit in AE (same speed as ST).

Balance should never be considered made for weaker player bases. It should be considered to make the most amount of characters viable.

See, my perspective here is that if there is a hole in Bison or Guile’s lockdowns, they should get punished every time. It shouldn’t only happen if the player happens to react very quickly. If there is one frame of vulnerability, the player messed up and should eat a shoryuken or throw or whatever. Turbo seems to give leeway to sloppy play. That’s just my feeling. I guess it’s a matter of whether you want a game that’s more chess-like or more based on reflexes.

I hear talk about balance and tiers, but rarely hear mention of the worst characters. Someone was saying Balrog (boxer) was pretty horrible, and I think I remember something about Chun-Li being really bad. Is that right? Are those the two worst characters?

Balrog’s major problem is that he doesn’t really have enough tools in CE to deal with some of the cast, same kinda thing with CE Zangief. He doesn’t have headbutt, I don’t remember him having the sweep punches either. He can deal serious damage but it’s a lot of shit to deal with.

HF made most of the cast way better. People playing CE do it for I don’t know. If we’re playing the collection I go for WW guile and CE bison as my mains. So yeah…

It’s still a 1f reversal no matter what the speed, and it’s not like you can mash Guile’s Flash Kick.

Chun Li bad? i dont think so.
The bitch can block everything (also the Flash Kick) with just j.lk … she has a lot of priority on air.
Ok she doesnt have the balls (xD) in this version, but on the right hand she can be an ass…

Okay, I had heard she was bad. I didn’t think that matched up with my experience. Heh.

How much better balanced is the Japanese version? It sounds like an improvement, but of course, they left in Dictator’s infinite. (D’oh!) Balrog’s dash straight hits crouching players; how much of a difference does that make for his game?

Also, how is Claw in this? I’m a big fan of his in Super SF2, but obviously he’s quite different here. I’ve heard he was nerfed hard in Hyperfighting, but what are the specifics? Doesn’t he have a redizzy or something?

Chun Li is also

a nice character.
Do you guys knew that there’re four different ways of Chun Li’s somersault kick(?)?

So you have to defence four ways in each attacks.

the best Chun Li player

Hello guys, it’s long time to reply to this thread.
Here’re five vids that one of our member, Vampire, playing Chun Li. Those are regular playing.

From 4:16 to 4:32, you can see the Chun li’s somersault kicks that I mentioned it once.(#1089) Hard to defence…

2:56s really took me by surprise. Chun Li throws Ryu into the corner and does j.hp. If Ryu tries to block by holding back, Chun’s floaty jump cause him to walk the wrong way!

I saw first hand how popular this game still is in China. At one arcade in Shenzhen they had 4 CE cabinets but no WW, HF or ST. And people were playing it all night (I saw mostly Guile, Bison and Ryu players)

You don’t see those characters too often.

I mentioned it because a few pages back because someone posted that the char with the highest win ratio in China is Claw (or Dhalsim?).

sf2ce is the best

i have always thought CE was the best of all the versions of street fighter (even 4 and super 4). It just became a cluster after that. But I’m still a fan and will continue to keep with the times and play the new ones. But thanks for making a thread to the old classic CE!

Right…(it’s 4:15, anyway…)And more, he can throw Guile when he do Summersault kick by LK. Try it. Oh, Shenzhen…I haven’t been there before but three of our member went there during Otc 1~3,2010 for sf2ce gaming. Very good to gaming and nice city I heard about.
(Actually, they plan to go Guangzhou but there’s no sf2ce cab. / Shenzhen is a satelite town of Guangzhou.)
In that time, a Tianjin player, Dahuzi, joined together them. Sure, his Dhasim the best in there. I really want to invite him to Korea but there’s no way to.

That happens in Tianjin, China.
