Picked it up yesterday and this book is amazing! :wow:
Not only does it have tons more artwork than SF Eternal Challenge, there’s interviews with lots of the SF artists. You’ll see several drawings from Akiman, CRMK (AKA Bengus, first interview of his I’ve ever read so I will now scream like an insane fanboy AAAAAAAAAH…), Kinu Nishimura (my favorite BTW, Akiman’s a close second), Daigo Ikeno and Shinkiro! All of their drawings are grouped together (Akiman has a section, CRMK has a section, etc.) so now the question of “Who drew what?” is pretty much thrown out the window FOREVER! On top of the interviews the artists even talk about a lot of individual SF drawings they did! :lovin: The Shinkiro section is very cool since it even has his Tatsunoko vs. Capcom drawings!
It doesn’t only extend to Capcom artists. They speak to Nona about his work on SVC Chaos and the artist behind Namco x Capcom also talks about drawing SF characters in that game! And you can see their SF drawings in the book of course! :clapdos:
I could go on and on but this is one of those books that you just have to experience for yourself. Why are you still reading this? GO GET IT.
Yup, greatest SF art book ever. I’ve known for at least a week now.
I love the artist comments. A lot of Kinu’s comments were pretty funny. There’s one old Kinu picture from I think the Capcom newsletter with Saotome Jin and some female characters, and the comment was “I love the way Jin is looking at you in this (lol).” On closer inspection, Jin has this creepy, intensely seductive glare that I never really noticed before. Now I can’t look at the pic without seeing that first
These were shipped to comic shops but I would call to see if your local comic shop ordered one for the store. It’s been my experience that when it comes to these artbooks and whatnot most comic stores don’t actually order them, and if they do, they rarely get in many copies. In comic stores this has an MSRP of $39.99. That’s expensive to me. However it’s in stock at Amazon for $26.99. Since it’s over $25 you can get free shipping and depending on your state there will be no tax as well. So online is a better deal, but, if you like your comic store and have the money to spare, you can try to get it from your local comic shop. I’m sure they need all the help they can get. I’m too poor so it’s Amazon for me. Also currently there is only a softcover I believe. I wouldn’t be surprised if they released some limited edition hardcover sometime down the road for a convention or something though. They’ll probably jack the price up to 80 or 90 bucks too though.
I’m going to have to pick that up when ever I have a chance to go to my comic book store. What is the guys name that drew the Street Fighter characters for Namco Vs.Capcom? He’s the same one that drew the Soul Calibur & Tekken characters.
LOL don’t ask for scans and please no one toss them up. See the sticky rules thread of this forum. Besides all that, it’s bound pretty tightly and scans will prolly jack your book up pretty good.
I still don’t know if this is allowed, but a while ago in the Warriors Fate SF Story thread, one guy basically showed all the pages of the Japanese version of the book via youtube. It was great if you just wanted to get a sense of how much artwork there was, what was featured etc. He flips through the pages fairly quickly and the quality isn’t stellar, but it gives you a good “sneak peak” so to say, of what’s in the book.
I checked my local comic shop & they didn’t have any. Didn’t even know what i was talking about, they did have a Street Fighter Tribute art work from awhile back but they wanted MSRP for it 39.99. I ended up ordering one up in Amazon…Thanks
I can’t believe there’s so many new images that were left out of Eternal Challenge. I expected Tatsunoko and IV stuff, but I’m blown away with how good this book, and how much un-seen art is in here.
I have no additional praise to add since all has already been said, but I had to post that the pic with Chun’s Dad picking her up as a toddler was too adorable.:lovin:
