SF2 Koryu tier list discussion

good luck hitting an invincible move that opens a gateway to hell from which apparently fireballs pour

and even if you do hit him, you’re at frame disadvantage on hit no matter what move you use, they will immediately cancel their hitstun into gateway-to-hell

Of course he did.

I find Ryu’s MP dragon has more accuracy than Ken’s MP dragon

After those 2, I think Dictator is top, because he can Psycho Crusher juggle infinite with MP PC or HP PC

It cant.

You aren’t listening. If you hit ken, he cancels his hitstun or knockdown before you recover into a SRK, and then its game over.

Edit - Endless - Infinites dont exist because, again, hitstun can be canceled. The hits have to be lightning fast for you to not give them the opportunity to hitstun cancel.

this is getting annoying

have you ever shoryukened anyone who was close? like, at all?

so are you saying it’s impossible to attack him (outdamage him, really) and block afterwards?

Ken can still lose to gief if gief gets an SPD off then does the lariat run-away where ken’s mp fireballs wont reach him

Anyways its way easier for ken to win lol

Im on GGPO. Come show me.

Whoops. MP Shoryu probably still plows through it anyway :looney:

Ken can do LP/MP Shoryu during Gief’s SPD, when Gief finishes the SPD he bounces right into the wall of hadou, so…

Interesting thought, though, Vega’s Backflip seems to have just enough invincibility to not get completely owned by MP Shoryu, and can be cancelled into from his pitifully weak cr.Strong.

Yes, basically. Since you can cancel hitstun/blockstun/jugglestate/dizzy at any time with any special move input, they hit you and you can immediately shoryu them. Not even jabs are safe as long as you can input the DP quickly. And even if you screw up and are a little slow, there’s a good chance that you will do enough chip damage to make up for it anyway.

On the other hand if you are fighting vs. the fireball DP with a character without an invincible move, you’re fucked.
If you’re a character like Guile who does have one, you’re still fucked because LP dp makes the projectiles move so slow that if you try to flash kick out of your hitstun you get hit when the invincibility runs and end up taking more damage. If you try to block and then punish you will just eat another SRK because when you hit them in recovery they can now cancel their hitstun to another one. Plus, you still take more chip damage than Dr. Doom rocks assist on block.

edit: SPD is punishable by shoryuken cancel out of hitstun, gief runs out of invincibility at the end of it.

This game is done. Ken can only be beaten by Ken and Ryu, its time we upgrade to Red Wave (which is actually a lot more interesting)

sry, I didn’t mean that as a collection. that sentence was an abomination.

what I meant is is there a way for him to be outdamaged AND if there were a way to hit him and block afterwards. I’ve found a few ways to outdamage him. I’d need to practice to perfect the most effective one though. it’s also dry as hell.

I haven’t found any way to attack and block afterwards though, might not be a way. I thougth there might be a way to like hit him with an aerial on like the last frame or something and come down with a block, but it’s like you said. the counterattack is too instantaneous

found this post a while back. I was under the impression that this was possible, but it seems like only the moves that are completely invulnerable will go through hadouken

Hyperhal played me on GGPO. He will report on his findings later.

Guile might be top tier in Red wave. Climb out of the screen and air throw. Can’t afford to get knocked down though.

I don’t know about red wave but accelerator part 2 was pretty interesting

A definitive list of CE hacks would be neat.

i recall rainbow and accelerator, but not Koryu. OTOH, MAWS list 10 versions of hack releases of CE. it’s no wonder i don’t recall it.

yeah, it would be nice to see the differences. edit : actually, it looks like MAWS does have some info about some of the versions.

Keits - Thanks for the clarification regarding hitstun, I wasn’t aware of that for Dictator, because when I hit them with pyscho crusher, they are still in the same frame as the previous hit.

I like Red Wave a LOT because that’s the one where you can airthrow the opponent even when they are on the ground. Guile FTW (But I don’t think he’s top, he’s just extremely fun to use)
I think Dictator is great because he can scissor lockdown all day, and Sagat is probably top because he can throw as many tigers on the screen as he wants

Sagat is very good in red wave, but sim’s walk is like a teleport, SOOO FAST.

You guys are doing this all wrong. Since you can change your opponent character you should be discussing who the worse characters are. Ken can do this and that whatever, whose gona change you into ken? Unless of course you dont know how to use him.

You can change your opponent’s character in Koryu? I thought you could only change your own. Is this true? How is this done?
