S: Ryu, Ken, Zangief
A: Bison, Guile
B: Honda, Blanka, Sagat, Dhalsim
C: Balrog, Chun Li
unknown: Vega
I didn’t know where to put Vega because he doesn’t have anything that amazing other than the wall dive throw (which you can grab them from anywhere as long as the horizontal distance is alright), but I think he can be hit out of it.
He can SPD either from half screen (regardless of where you are and where the other person is, as long as the distance is half screen) and he has an insanely fast walking speed. If he gets an SPD off, you see him do the motion but you are completely capable of moving, then bam all this damage and he can do it again.
Yeah but that’s not to say some characters are better than others.
E Honda can keep torpedoing after he hits while I think Blanka has to wait for the after roll to end. Sagat can spam tigers like Dhalsim and Guile can spam theirs, but Sagat’s Tiger Flame Uppercut does a lot of damage if it hits. Dhalsim has the spamming and his Jab yoga fire is invisible. I think his HP one is really fast and invisible too, and he has a really fast walking speed.
After thinking about it though, I switched B some.
I agree that tiers aren’t a huge deal, I don’t care about them personally. I just meant that since you can switch to any character at any time counter picking isn’t too big a deal. Unless both players are constantly counter picking throughout the match.
But I am interested to hear how tiers for Koryu, I haven’t played it myself but its such a crazy game. I would love to see a Koryu side tourney at Evo, haha.
All command throws and air throws have infinite vertical range, though only three of them are fully invincible. You can simply punch Guile out of his, and I think Chun/Vega’s might be softenable.
While Zangief does wreck a lot of the cast, he can’t hang with Ryu and Ken. If you do somehow manage to make it past the MP Shoryus and land an SPD, they can simply set up an LP Shoryu such that Zangief bounces right into it during the recovery of his SPD.
Blanka would be godtier if you could figure out just how CPU Blanka does .
Are you even kidding? Ken is the only character in this game. You can cancel hitstun, blockstun, or knockdown ANY TIME YOU WANT with an invincible-to-the-top medium SRK that shoots 8 homing lightning fast fireballs out of his armpit that usually dizzy right away. How is this even a discussion?
I feel Guile is about as good as the shotos, and maybe even better. Spiral like SB traps, hitstun cancel with FK, punish THROWS with FK. He’s got it all, except for a 6 FB DP.
Honda is pretty good, with stupidly good hands and torpedo (OH WHAT THE HE HAS AIR HYPER TORPEDOS)
Dic has the PC infinite, but is hitstun cancellable. Does he has an SK infinite? Boxer is too high, what does he have?
Gief is high for the fact of gdlk SPDs that can’t be cancelled like many character’s throws (Guile strong throw, for instance). Oh yeah, can’t he runaway all day with air jump Lariats?
Blanka has moving electricity and air hyper rolls.
Shotos say “OH HAI GAIS MAH DP IS SAFE B/C I HAVE A WALL OF 6 FBS IN FRONT OF IT OLOLOLOL”, and FB traps, but they aren’t any Guile SB trap.
Naw, thanks to being able to input specials at any point during hit stun blocking actually appears worse for you than taking the hit and then shoryu/Tiger Uppercut/Whatevering. If there weren’t specials during hit stun/getting knocked down things would be different. Just take the hit of electricity and DP. Each of the shoryus along with moving backward (Often via jumping) seem to be the best tools in this game.
I end finals on Wednesday night. Wanna get drunk and play some Kouryu on Thursday? I want to see how your Bison infinites stand up to my cheesy Ken traps
