SF x Tekken PC update?

I have yet to experience the “issues” people have with GFWL.
Yet Steam (which everyone seems to love) has been nothing but a pain in the rear end to get installed and working.

I can’t possibly see how steam is a pain. Just a simple username and password. 3 different processes don’t have to open and click correctly AND I don’t have to put in some asinine code, I just click “play” and BAM! Game!

I’m not calling you a liar or insulting you in any way, however we live in a world where tons of crazy exceptions exist and THAT is quite the exception.

I’m now experiencing so much disconnections from GFWL that competing online is now a risk. I can’t tell if it’s on our end or Microsoft’s.

Maybe it’s because it’s trying to connect with Steam users who were rollbacked to version 1.00. I only say that because I remember with AE for PC, sometime after the hack that added most of the 2012 changes was introduced, I started getting a ton of disconnects from GFWL during games, and I assumed it was because I was facing somewhat who had the hack. Once 2012 hit the PC version, I have yet to get a single disconnect from GFWL.

The only other reason I think that is because it was stated that Steam was temporarily rolled back to 1.00, but it still says version 1.02 on my Steam version. Unless the rollback to version 1.00 on Steam was already fixed, in which case, I honestly have no idea why that would be happening. :stuck_out_tongue:

Probably yes. The problem started after I’ve read the Steam rollback news.

Just like to add that I’m getting disconnected even though I’m not in an online match.

So as of now, I’m practicing with some combos I’ve been eating lately. I can’t believe some of those combos are actually easy to execute during practice but it seems to be that I can’t use them in an actual match due to anxiety. :frowning:

Huh…I’ve never had that happen to me. That’s odd that it would disconnect for no reason when you’re not in an online match…I have no explanation for that.

As for being unable to use combos in an actual match…it happens. I’ve been a victim of it as well; my opponent is at low life, and I need to land this one combo to win…and I end up dropping it. It annoys me. My only advice is to keep practicing the combos in training mode until they become second nature to you. Once you hit that point, I find that you drop those combos less against other players.

I get an issue on every PC I install Steam too that makes it so when I run it for the first time I get…
“steam.exe (main exception) error”

The only way I am able to fix it each time is by deleting the Steam.exe, renaming the Steam-Update.exe to Steam.exe and than finally running Steam.

I have yet to have a single PC I’ve worked on that doesn’t have this issue with Steam.

You are largely alone man. A little research got me this:

“In safe mode with networking, delete everything in the Steam folder except Steam.exe and the SteamSpps folder. Double-click the Steam.exe right in the folder, not from a shortcut”

I’d just post on the Steam forum if that doesn’t go and it’s probably a simple fix. The difference between Steam and GFWL (besides that Valve gives a shit) is that people use Steam by choice and are actually using the forums.

I tried that and it didn’t work. Only thing that does work (for me anyway) is doing what I said in the last post.
My fiance ended up using her SSF4AE key she bought from Steam with my retail disc version (That I bought from the Capcom Store) for her laptop.
Now instead of having to run Steam, GFWL and the game to play she only needs GFWL and the game running.
Plus we both bought the costumes via GFWL so she has reason to avoid Steam for the game now (She would be forced to buy the Steam version of the DLC costumes to have them again)

For this one game? Sure. Whatever. If it got a real Steam release? It’d be much better.

move Steam to a new directory (just the .exe file) and launch from there. see if that works.

No offense, but I’ve been noticing that I am always having a bad/laggy connection when fighting a Russian (although that player can be from any country, as you can pick any flag during registration. I just assumed he is Russian since he is using the Russian flag after all). :frowning:

you are from US, ofc course you will have shit connection to russians, its freaking 4000km between us.
US east is somewhat okay, but west is ridiculous

My flag may be US, but I’m from Southeast Asia (no choice as my country’s not listed in GFWL). In terms of distance though, I think it’s pretty much the same.

Now I’m having that “getting signed out of GFWL” problem again. It seems to be that it always happen at around this time.

SE Asia is pretty much the same yea.
1 bar connection shouldnt really surprise you

Well, I finally decided to play some matches online with the new patch, and I got semi-positive results. There was some teleporting, but it wasn’t even close to the severity of 1.00 (just a few jitters here and there and some minor sound double-up issues), and I was able to keep playing as usual. I also got some matches that played extremely well, but unfortunately I haven’t gotten a response yet if they were teleporting themselves (one guy seemed to say that it was teleporting for him, but I couldn’t get him to clarify).

So, I’m going to say that it definitely is an improvement, but it could still be better. Perhaps the 1.05 patch will help optimize the netcode some more for us.

Also, is there any word on when we’ll be able to download the colors and costumes? I want to give Ken his swag Lars costume already…

just mod it out really

I’m tempted to, I really am…but I honestly don’t believe in hacking stuff that I can get normally. Call it a stupid moral code if you will, but that’s my stand on it. :stuck_out_tongue:

Actually, now that I think about it the only time I’ve ever hacked anything was to get Arceus in Pokemon Diamond, because my friend had an action replay and I was sick of waiting for the event to happen.

This is getting frustrating. I’m always getting disconnected during the evenings. :arazz:

I doubt Microsoft would provide support since our country’s not listed. :annoy:

Renaming KEN_02 into KEN_01 is hardly considered as hacking (by hackers’ standards)…
The files are installed on your hdd, use them.
