This game needs an arcade release, and since we’re likely to get an update later on, it might as well be an AE style update (minus the balance drama).

I always found it weird that this game didn’t have an arcade release to begin with. Tekken is one of the most popular arcade games in the east, Capcom could get quite a lot of money if the Tekken crowd got into this.
I just hope that if they do release an Arcade version, please keep both versions at the same level. Having to wait months for new content/balance changes ain’t cool.
After a console release tests the waters to see if SFxT is a good enough seller with the general public, they’ll give it a “Super” treatment and that version would probably release simultaneously with an arcade release of that version of the game.
Too bad. Arcade operators and Capcom need months of exclusivity to turn a profit on arcade releases.
Yeah, I understand the reasoning behind it.
Still, call me selfish but having to play a obsolete version sucks.
Why do you think so? Is it so people can break the game for a more solid console release later?
I hope there’s only one version of this game, and that all updates come from DLC, MK9 style. There you can buy a season pass for $15 or each character for $5, compatibility packs come with free alt costumes to everyone who download, download is obrigatory to play online. That’s a better deal for the players - they can buy whatever they wish and those who don’t buy get something for the download, and in the end we all play the same game - and a better deal for Capcom, as I’m sure they get a better cut in $40 of DLC than in a $40 disc.
I like the idea of having seasons on online fighting games, with regular rebalances every 6-12 months, reset of leaderboard and more stuff. They can make the game life last longer that way (like in a way they’ve been doing with SF4). Better stop typing, I may have gone a little off the topic.
Arcade release good, “Arcade Edition” bad.
Say no to content being withheld.
I don’t want to see compatibility packs become the norm. It’s easy to avoid them and I’m shit out of luck when I want to use the characters I purchased because the douchebag on the other end didn’t want to bother to take 3 mins to download the update to make it possible. It should go the Blazblue route and make them mandatory patches.
I want to see an arcade edition just so the game can catch on in Eastern countries.
Didnt Fubarduck say this was getting an arcade release before the game was announced officially? Maybe that was Tekken X Street Fighter.
Probably. I doubt Namco will not release the game for arcades first.
I think the arcade release would be better for “testing waters” don’t you think?
I would like to see an Arcade release for this, too.
I could see it happening in the future.
If they do make one, Capcom’s not ging to be stupid enough to release it without any new content. And since Capcom is all about that DLC content these days, I’d rather see it as one big downloadable update than multiple DLC characters released over time - at the very least, it’s hella easier on TOs.
1st make sure the game is actually good.
With Capcom’s current record it’s not a given at all.
If they make an arcade edition of this game, they should make it so it is not so expensive to buy and make it that the maximum price to play is 50 cents and not a dollar like SSFIV AE.
I’d be down for an Arcade Edition. I watch a majority of my FG matches on youtube and a lot of my subscriptions are from A cho and Gessendou and stuff who upload matches right from the arcades. I’m hopin’ both SFxT and UMvC3 get arcade versions, however unlikely.
I think STxTK will definitely need an arcade release to actually evolve as a competitive game. A console only release can only do so much in that regard.
This is wrong nowadays, MvC3 for example is console only but is one of the two biggest fighters in America right now. Such a small percentage of TOURNAMENT players play consistently in arcades, and I guarantee that 99% of the people who play in arcades would just play on console if they didn’t have an arcade to go to.
I don’t think you got my point. But MvC3 is but an exception, since most of the vs. series competitive development was done among the US players. And the small percentage of tournament players who play at the arcades etc. are none other than the top players. There is a difference between arcade and console experiences in developing a stronger player.
SFxTK is a different game, and without an arcade release we will have less top players actually playing the game consistently and competitively and therefore it will take longer for the game to tap its maximum potential. For this game, we’ll need eastern players on top of it as well and an arcade release is the natural way for that to happen.
I agree
