It looks like Capcom is playing it safe with this one, you can’t blame them they are a business.
This is noble but unrealistic. Devs can’t just sit around after releasing a fighting game and field suggestions for rebalance from players. They have other projects to attend to. Rebalance will come if the game is active enough (read: SF4) to warrant it but ultimately, it’s not a good use of time or resources to constantly reprogram the game to meet the needs of players.
I’m not sure if I should expect an SFxT update at any time but I’ll say I don’t think Capcom’s going to let their staff spend their time coding balance patches (even though, I admit, in this age of Internet-accessible gaming being able to do so would make sense).
Arcades WILL all die off sooner or later… all your Japanese players will have to start playing on consoles no matter how old fashion they want to be.
Except that Arcades in Japan are doing exceedingly well in comparison to US arcades…
What’s a “US arcade”?
If they do make a version for the arcade, i kinda wish they would market it sort of like TTT2 and would have a complex card system like that(without the silly name of course) if character customization dont make it in the home version, i would like to see something like that be implemented in that version. Considering how well it worked for VF5(they have their own machine you customize your character)and T6. but these are more aesthetic then anything else so its doubtful…
They still do well enough to support some kind of sembalance of an arcade business but they’re still in rapid decline.
I think all fighting games should have an arcade release. At least the ones produced by high end companies such as Capcom, Namco, and SNK. I’m real excited for SF x T and all its glory. Got to play the pandora build at the fight club event.
One thing that bothers me about arcade releases is that it gives the few players with access to the game an unfair advantage when the tournaments starts rolling around since they have had more hands on time. In Japan that may not be a big deal but in the US arcades are few and far between. In places like Southern Cali you may be able to find quite a few spots with the games but sucks if you are a player from the mid west… or anywhere else for that matter.
^ Yeah as much as I support Arcade versions, I’d be in the same position. Newest Arcade game in this part of the USA is Tekken 5, not even the updated version lol.
They really shouldn’t be updating games as often as they are.
I’d love for the game to settle for a long time first. That way, the metagame won’t get stunted, and they’ll be able to put more time and resources into other projects.
My butt hole doesn’t get any wider than it already is. I hate that every damn game is release there is nickle and dime downloadable content. they should just release the game one time. if you don’t like the character set… well too bad. I missed the good ole days when you would buy a street fighter or tekken and the whole game is what you bought. if you want alternate costume you have to earn them by accomplishing something. Although it’s not going to happen i hope that when they release sf x t there are not updates or costume pack or any other bullshit thing that depletes my wallet. (I know that the SFIV update didn’t cost anything but you get my point)
sf4 might be trash but at least its still fundamentally attempting to be decent.
this game looks built to be a joke from the ground up, arcade players would shit on it.
dont worry they can just get TOSE to produce it
its not 1997 any more, you cant release a super gem fighter type game in arcades an expect it to make a profit
Yeah, it’s 2011. This game doesn’t need an arcade release at all. Especially not with the underhanded way Capcom went about with SF4 and all its iterations. I wouldn’t want to put that pressure / financial responsibility on any arcade owner.
In fact I don’t entirely think it’s being marketed towards that demographic at all.
Yea I feel you man. I miss the days when I would buy SF2WW, and then CE would come out a year later. And then HyperFighting the year after that. I miss When I bought SSF2 the year after that, and then 5 months later i have to buy Super Turbo. I miss that Alpha came out a year after that, Alpha 2 a year later, and Gold the year after that (which comes with games released no more than 4 years previously) I Fucking MISS how another street fighter (EX) came out the same fucking year I FUCKING MISS how alpha 3 came out like a fucking year after gold did. I like how in the midst of the alpha games they released SF3, the Versus game Every year except MvC2 which was 2 years instead of one. I like how FUCKING MONTHS after SF3NG was released they made second impact. I love how 2 years later we had to buy 3rd strike. I love how CvS1 one was released and CvS2 a fucking year after. Shut the fuck up and know what the fuck you are talking about and stop spewing shit.
Yeah… never in ages did I think I’d hear about someone missing the days capcom didn’t milk LOL
