This is a DirectConnect hub (peer to peer networking) to share fighting game combo and tournament vids on. Like others, I enjoy sharing and watching videos, but it’s bandwidth or disk space prohibitive to share everything at once. The hub provides a way for people to share everything under the sun and yet keep their networking costs to a minimum - no need to run your own website or hope that somebody hosts that particular video that you’ve been looking for.

STEPS MADE AS SIMPLE AS POSSIBLE:

  1. Install this: http://dcplusplus.sourceforge.net.
  2. Connect to “smash.servegame.com” in DC++'s “QuickConnection” dialog.
  3. Either browse people’s shares to find what you want or use SEARCH (uncheck “Require open slots”) and enter a term you’re looking for (like “Storm”, “Ken”, “BAS”, or whatever).

You can get the DC++ client software at:
http://dcplusplus.sourceforge.net (use 0.674 or newer!) or the DirectConnect client software at:
http://www.neo-modus.com (use 2.205 or newer!)

I personally use DC++ and find it much more stable/less leaky. If you use DC++, you must use version 0.674 or newer. If you use DirectConnect, I strongly recommend 2.205, since that fixes some bigger ‘file refresh’ bugs in 2.20.

The old hub dynamic IP is presumably owned by Funk, and Funk has apparently disappeared. That’s all I know. =\

Possibly stupid question but I’m an idiot when it comes to computers. Is there any way to change my minimuum share size? It always says it needs to be 300mb? Sorry to ask such a question.

^-- Why is this a problem? As noted, if you don’t already have 300MB of vids on your system, you can simply download WAY more than that from http://zachd.com/mvc2 or one of the sites linked to there. :smile:

I definitely appreciate your POV, but luckily it’s got a good/easy work-around.
