SF Anniversary Guide is awesome

I’m gonna pick this up, looks like quality stuff.

The guide is pretty good. I like that it explains every version of every character for Hyper SSFII. A good example is M. Bison. The best version of him is from Champion Edition. That kind of surprised me, but once I played CE I wasn’t surprised anymore. Just excellent!

I just got the guide myself…

Kamui and mopreme, you have my kudos. I have yet to see such an in-depth guide… It puts most stuff on gamefaqs to shame

I just got mine and It is more than I expected. This has everything you need to know about HF and 3s. Well worth it!

I bought one… I like it… A LOT. I am just getting into 3rd Strike and I feel this is going to help me quite a bit. I was hoping the frame data would be in more of a table, but I’m still very grateful we got it at all. I emailed Bradygames too

Just got the guide today; it’s great. Seriously packed full of useful information. I’m listening to the soundtrack as I type.

don’t really need the guide, but i’ll buy it to show my support and stuff.

I just got my guide book today (GameStop’s in Chicago UPS shipping is terrible!) Anyhow, this is one of the best fighters guide that I have ever read in ages! A lot of info. is in this 204 page guide. I never knew anything about the HSFII series at all(thats because I was only 5 when I started to play SFII :stuck_out_tongue: )It is worth the buy.

just got mine from ebgames …its awesome …i wish there was more 3rd strike artwork though or more artwork all together but ya its a great guide

To the people asking about the Xbox version:

I BELIEVE thats its been confirmed that the Xbox version will be near arcade perfect.

Not true. I know it’s not in the Dhalsim section, but i know i read about the Dhalsim throw trap. I think it might be in the beginning section, possibly around the paragraph about tick throws.

And for that matter, the Bison lockdown “combo” was listed in the same place, not with his character breakdown.

i might buy this just for support, i’ll e-mail those bitches too

Bisons was put in the earlier section the one where I said that they had lots of good info. And that was just a pure sentence, like me writing a combo transcript. Reading it alone is not enough. I can write some combo for SFEX3, but you not seeing the timing of some of the moves will make you wonder how its done and why you can’t do this and this after that when according to the lockdown script it should be able to be done. And at intermediatary, you’d think its random, or if you’re lucky you’re realize how its done.

I didn’t recall seeing the Dhalsim trap, but if its there its even more hidden than Bisons. And felt that it really should have been with the character section itself, or at best both sections so someone wanting to find that could just look at the character section to find it, and put it in the beginning so it can help explain some of the words and tactics used in SF2.

With that, I just looked through that front section and still did not see any Dhalsim set ups or traps. From his slide into the yoga noogie, to his corner meaty yoga flame into throw if blocked or another meaty yoga flame if the first one hits. Granted the overall premise is pretty simple, but thats just one example of several more defined traps and throw strageties that weren’t in the guide.

Sent feedback to BradyGames. This guide positively blew me away. If I could make a living doing this kind of stuff, it would be perfect.

That doesn’t matter because Sirlin was no CE player so the Bison lockdown that he wrote is very shity and is incorrect/noneffective.

Some misprints

There’s some minor spelling/grammar errors, but thats ok. The only thing is that I didn’t see Ken’s kara-throw information in the 3rd strike section. It may be because he doesn’t have one (doubtful), but at least they listed “none” for the characters don’t have it. Ken’s name didn’t even show up in the list, unless my eyes are failing me

Also omitted was Akuma’s target combo (close strong -> fierce).
But despite the few small errors, this is easily the best fighting game guide I’ve ever seen. Good job guys. Adam, Mark, I’ll be expecting you two to sign mine in the Makoto section. =p

You guys better stock up! You can’t even find the legendary SFA2 guide on ebay anymore and when it does show up, it sells for like 40 bucks.

Picked mine up yeterday…best Guide Brady ever thought of creating .
Not better than the Varsus Books SFA2 guide
I would have liked to see MORE Character Vs Character Specific match breakdowns (like how VS Books had) as well as screen shot move by move in the combo section )
You’re right…I noticed last night that ken’s Kara throw was missing

GREAT GUIDE…nothing but praises in my letter to Brady but it’s funny how as good as this guide is,the Japanese Box set has a 300+ page mook AND a 2hr DVD all just for 3S

I’m not surprised that the Japanese have a huge book for the game. I saw a book about the same size one time that was for a soccer video game. Talk about a culture that loves their games.
