Very good 3s section, however honestly I found the HSF2AE section to be a bit lacking. No frame data, no mention of Dhalsims traps, the beginning of it was good though with the CPS1 links and other explaination of terms. With that I realize that the book would be another 1000 pages long if it went into as much depth per version per character character as it did in the 3s section.
I have Brady’s Limited Edition Soul Calibur 2 strat guide and I can expect nothing but goodness from the SF:AC guide. The cover is glossy paperboard with the SC soundtrack inside a small pocket on the inside of the front part of the cover. The actual book is slotted within the paperboard cover for reinforcement. Under the CD pocket is the soundtrack listing in english and japanese. The first page is an introduction to the game(a small insight to the story and then talking about the game). Page two tells the history of the game series(in this case Soul Edge/Calibur). The soundtrack has great quality.
It’s a bitch trying to find this in stores for some reason. I was planning on getting mine today but the dude at the store said it’s probably in the back somewhere but they haven’t even opened up the boxes yet. I was told to check back the next day – fuckin’ lazy bastards. Anyways, now that I know what’s inside the thing, I’ll be getting one.
I’m going to email Brady today and ask that they keep doing guides like this cause this is an actual tool that will help people understand the game. EVERYBODY on srk should write them and tell them the same. Don’t say you will, do that shit.
I do have a question though. What is the print run on this thing? I already got a copy, and I’ve told other friends interested in the game to pick up this guide, but they can’t find it. Apparently hardly anybody has it in the ATL. I expect this won’t be a problem when the game actually comes out, but it would be a shame to have this guide become super rare because the print run was low. Who should we contact if the print run is low and demand more copies printed?
thank goodness i ordered mine before posting the link, this shit is going out like wild fire online and off. order your copy today, for 20 bucks, theres no better deal. i also emailed bradygames and went on and on about how THIS is the way it should be done.
Wait, wait. So how is the hsf section? Frame data, I don’t really care about, but is there overall a good strategy section in it? I’ve got little interest in 3s so if I bought this book it would only be for hsf.
Wazup, i’m new to shoryuken, and me and my homeboy saw the Daigo video last weekend. We were like wat da fuck. The japanese are sick, but i still feel like i still got a chance.
Awesome guide by everyone involved. Like everyone else said, pick it up. Also if you go by Gamestop you can get the guide with 20% off with purchase or reservation of the game. Also if anyone has trouble picking it up, I can prolly buy a few extra copies, you’re gonna have to pay for shipping of course though. PM if interested. And give Brady feedback on their guides so they can continue putting out quality stuff.
AAAAAARRRRRHGGGGGGGG, I want this sooooooo bad. Can anyone please breakdown what is featured in the HSFAE section, how many pages, is it mainly tactics (I hope so this is SF2 afterall) or combos (Hope not) like the old hyper guide, etc…
I got mine at EB, they had 4 copies of it, i got the first, but i dont expect any of the rest to sell, as i live in a very small town and amount of people who play fighters is extreamly low. Sucks for me, not that much competition. Now the wait till Jan for the xbox version, i hope GGXXR will last me till Jan, then I should have all my fighting needs takeng care of for a while.
HSF2AE section is about 90 pages long (from Blanka to Akuma), it has a 6 page section before that explaining several basics to advanced general gameplay aspects. I found that part to be good. But the character section had for 2 pages pictures of moves, and commands for said special moves. It then has a short paragraph on each version of the character that can be choosen. To give you a rough idea why s/he was good in that version of the game or not. They give about 2 combos per version of a character, and give 2 match ups, one match up in the characters favor and another not in his favor. Both are about 2 paragraphs long.
