SF #14 previews is up

You know its kinda nice to see Ryu in other clothes rather than the “traditional gi”.

very true

I hope that this is not the last time either.

Ryu originally wasn’t suppose to wear only his gi.

{I read that in the sf eternal interview.}

First of all, looks good. I can’t wait to see Guile vs Vega and how that plays out.

Secondly: TOLD YOU SO.

Lastly: bump because this forum is going to hell.

Yeah, but whats going to become of this forum after SF#14.

I mean Udoneko said after #14 they’d be taking a break from SF, although I guess there will still the DS and RS comics to talk about, at which point this should probaly be renamed the UDON Comics forum, since its not going to be just/mostly SF anymore.

We are still moving ahead with a few different stuff like posters, busts, statues, etc. Even the comic is on a temp break, I am sure to drop by here often to talk with you folks on all sorts of things.

And of coz, anyone who is planning to go to San Diego Comic Con… you’d better save up. Those who was not gonna go, think again…

Wizard had a small article about Darkstalkers doing amazingly well. Especially the powerfoils.

You saw me there last year, and sadly, other than talking with you guys the entire con was a bust. The Portfolio reviewing there is bogus.

Unless there’s some kind of divine intervention I’m not going to be able to afford it. Especially with the hotels all booked. Plus there’s no one else I know going that isn’t going on someone else’s dime.

Really? I have not gotten my Wizard yet. I wonder what they say…

San Diego is becoming less and less of a comic con and more of a media con. Capcom is going to have a much bigger presence there this year. And we are planning something special. Still in planning and confirming stage, but it is getting there…

Regarding portfolio reviews, I can tell you that unless you are super super top notch, none of the companies or editors would even remember you. I know that sounded harsh, but honestly, the best way to tackle this is to get their contact and send them some stuff LATER. Coz dropping off anything at the booths doesn’t mean much. Your package will just ended up in one of the boxes of stuff they are gonna bring back to the office, and might never got looked at again. This is from our personal experience and talking with editors. Who they are looking for at the cons is the 1/1000 cream of the crop.

As for hotels this year, yeah, it seems pretty retarded. I was told that, turns out, there is another event in town that same weekend. So all hotels are booked up immediately since there are less room available in the area to begin with!

Oh believe me, I know all about what they do with packets. We saw some guy at Marvel cleaning up a spill with sample packets in WW Chicago.

I was more or less commenting on the content/quality of the reviews. Being that I wait 3 hours in a line just to hear “well, I dunno what to tell you, I’m not an artist…” (Darkhorse)Or “it looks good, you should be working”. I didn’t get any feedback that was in anyway usable from the upstairs reviews.

**Wizard, Retailer Buzz pg 130 **
"Industry buzz over Street Fighter has leveled off since it’s thunderous debut, but the reins have been picked up by Capcom’s latest video game adapation, Darkstalkers. “Talk about hot,” noted Drew Lujan of Gardena, Calif.'s Wanted Comix. "[#1 and #2] are sold out and even the second print [variants] are selling fast."
I concluded the variants included Powerfoils.

Doesn’t seem like I’ll be able to go this year either. Anyway, I want to see plenty of pictures like I saw last year!

Say, if SF takes a short break after issue 14, and since you guys will be more or less close to the SF2 arc, when the book returns you can call it ‘Street Fighter II issue number 1’ and cash in on issue # 1 selling out again, and it can be a a way to re-energize the series. Just a thought.

I can tell you that is exactly what we are planning…

Hey that’s great!

lol thats funny.

Probaly something to do with Namco x Capcom I imagine.

Oh yeah Erik, when are we going to start seeing some RS media? I mean how long before some previews show up, or the site is launched, and all that good stuff?

And speking of the site, Ive been wondering about something, who’s art is displayed here?

http://www.streetfightercomic.com/

Is it all one artists? Is it all Alvin? It looks alot like Edayan’s artwork, which reminds me of something, wasnt Edayan supposed to do a SF cover for you guys?

Pretty sure Morrigan and Ryu are Alvin, the other one is whoever did the Capcom Summer Special RS cover/story.

Hello Erik.I was wondering about how long the short break will be?Is it for like a two month period we won’t see issue 15 or is it longer? I hope not longer because I love every issue and need my fix. And are sales still really good like they should be?

I imagine it be probaly 4 months or more. I mean if they were going to take a break 2 months is really nothing when it comes to the comic industry, so I figured it be a bit longer then that, specialy if UDON is going to be launching the series anew with SFII #1 (or #0) ie they probaly want to wait awhile to make it that much more wanted.

Don’t mean to be a noob, but is that Raizo on the cover?

No, its Gouken, Akuma’s brother, along with Ryu and Ken’s master.

if that’s the case then i’m done with the book. personally i can not stand that renumbering shit.

Damn I hope so. As it is it was starting to look like the game would have no presence outside of Japan. But it’s Namco that’s doing it, so…

Funny, I’d heard that Edayan is no longer at Capcom.

He might not be, I havent really been keeping up with Capcom as much as I used to.

The last thing I know Edayan did for Capcom was the designs for Monster Hunter. Although if he did leave I wouldnt blame him if he left since Capcom would always short change him, ie they rarely ever used him to do anything despite the fact that he was more then likely their best artist and designer on their staff. I mean this guy was Bengus’ understudy (or so I heard) and designed alotta great chars (notably the Rival Schools chars and SFEX chars) yet he had absolutely no input what so ever on SF3, when he was more talented then all the artists and designers that worked on SF3, and was one of the main artits and designers for the SFA series. Man I could only imagine what he would’ve come up with for SF3.

So lets see, Capcom had Bengus (who at one time was their best artist and designer) but then he stopped doing designs for them (but continued to do art for them) and now dosnt seem to do anything for them anymore, and he had no involvement with SF3 (which sucked) and now they seemed to have screwed up with Edayan as well.

Seriously, I dont know what it is, but Capcom seems to really know how to piss off their employees to the point where they all leave them or dont want to work for them.
