So, I know chibi, was thinking of holding a VS tourney via kallera… that got me wonderin, what peeps think the general standards should be for ALL games, and what games were(had demand for) tourney playable.
imo, mame v .62 seems to be the emu std.
BUT, young ice has used some recording tool w/ fba, so matches could be recorded and verified for the winner and loser, as well as whether or not there was or wasnt autofire& junk.
and these games (mostly capocom side… sry snk peeps… i just dont pay enough attention ) seem viable thus far for online organized tourney play(which I’m wondering how its gone about being done):
-street fighter alpha 3 (a3)
-super street fighter 2 turbo(ST)
-marvel vs capcom(MvC)
-Xmen vs street fighter(XvSF)
-Vampire Savior(VS)
-Super Puzzle fighet 2 turbo(spf2t)
-Twinkle Star Sprites(TSS)
-Snk vs Capcom(SvC…i’m pushing the envelope w/ this one i think)
-Kof##()
I know theres more games, that need listing… what games are peeps here up for?
& a 3rd person to observe is likely a good idea, there would likely be lag problems. do ya’ll think that’ll cause a problem?
The problem with SNK games is that they can easily desync when played on kaillera. Whenever I play CPS2 titles on Kawaks I never desync, but when I try to play KOF2002 or 2003 I’m always desync’ing with my friends, which is a constant pain having to “desync check” to see if your win was true or not.
Depending on the game, it should determine maximum slots available for contestants.
Yes, autofire’s a bitch. This is the most annoying part of it, you can never determine who uses it and who doesn’t 100% accurately. Listening to the sound of the move or watching it closely can help, if it’s in a constant rhythm, it’s autofire.
Yeah for SNK games, stick with mame32k. No desyncs, and you can also 6p. An awesome idea would be to have a 3on3 6 player KOF match. (KOF98 and KOF2002 for example).
Count me in, too. I’ll send this info to the KOF thread I do a lot of posting in. I’m sure the players there would be all over it. I’ve been in a few Kaillera tournies myself (wound up running a couple, too), so if you need help, let me know.
Kawaks is legendary for it’s desyncing. I use it all the time for offline play, but when it comes to playing online, Mame is the way to go. Also, it’s easy to setup macros in Kawaks (which is why I suspect people try to use it online with games that are just as easily supported by the non-desyncing Mame). I’m sure there are ways to setup macros in mame as well, but since I’ve never used them, I’ve never looked into it.
It would be nice if there was a way to display a players autofire settings in mame, kinda like binary. Like mvc for example, you could see it like AF-001001 (buttons 1-6). This means that someone has Fierce punch and Roundhouse turned on. Something ive been contemplated for sometime maybe even submit to mame32k developers.
i dont care if people use autofire: its mostly useless, 'cause the moves allowed by it (e.g blanka’s electrity), only connect thks to surprise, and you dont need autofire to launch moves like those.
