Seth SSFIV: AE Loc Test Impressions (News, Venting, Etc.)

so this thread has turned to theory fighter now? Y’all seem to be nerfing Seth in your minds with that.

I’ve been playing Seth nearly exclusively these past couple weeks, and I must say that I haven’t been using nj/jb.HP that much. I still think he should have it, but the problem with it, is that it’s a very good fall-back move. And some people will make j.HP 75% of their strat, because a lot of characters, by default, have trouble dealing with that move along with chasing Seth around.

All of SRK is theory fighter…

He needs to move like that because he does minimal damage and takes a ton. His command throw does little damage.

I’m still expecting/hoping a proper replacement for j.hp though, replacing it with forward jump hp just looks weird and doesn’t make much sense imo.

Theory Fighter? in my SRK? Unbefathomeleviable.

Anyways, j.MP is good. I think Seth has a pretty good air-to-air game. j.MP (nice hitbox and start-up, leads to combos), neutral j.HK, j.HP is okay too, j.MK has okay range and the hitbox is a little bit higher than j.HK (which is also good).

he has it pretty good air-to-air’wise.

Does any air to air beat Seth’s j.MP? I know like all of Viper’s jumping normals lose to that shit free.

Oh and the dude who says he’s going to sell his Xbox…at least you’ll save money playing Vanilla on PC or whatever it is you’re doing.

Viper’s j.hk seems to beat it for me. Ryu’s j.mp also beats it. Blanka’s neutral j.hp beats it for free, as does Honda’s.

abels j.hp owns it

It would be cool if his SPD hit a little harder, sometimes after playing grapplers for a bit and picking up Seth I get all psyched up when I land an SPD and… yeah.

doesn’t rufus juggle also rape it?

If I perform J.mp properly then it does not lose to Viper air moves (unless I screw up timing and get hit an early burn kick). With Ryu j.mp it is whoever is lower than the other at start-up. Meeting Honda’s Neutral J.FP with J.mp is retarded… Any of Seth air normals for that matter, it is too risky.

It is all a matter of timing with J.mp. I am sure Deviljin knows what J.mp is like after all those games.

I think Ryu’s j.hk and Ken’s j.hk beat it out. I can never seem to tag those in the air.

If memory serves me right I think Chun’s j.hp and Sakura’s j.lk do the same. I’ll have to test these all out.

I agree with Zeniside. I’m pretty sure using j.MP as A2A works best when you jump on reaction to another player’s jump at a more ascending angle. Or of course, when you’re jumping down on them, and they jump out. But you can’t do that for a safe jump, so play at your own risk.

But I guess most often, any person who jumps later than the other, not during a safe jump, is kind of at the mercy of the other player. I’ve had consistent success with doing any character’s possible A2A after the other player’s already jumped. Must be some formula to it, or just hitting the angle right.

about time seth gets nerfed I hate this guy… Gj ono, go dudley!

Fucking rage.

Yeah I know right, he’s like totally too strong and has way too many people dominating with him at tournaments and stuff. It is expected though, he’s a boss character after all, am I right?!

stay classy pal…

Speaking of which, does anyone remember when people were considering banning Seth and Gouken? Looking back, that’s pretty goddamn hilarious.

I remember going on vacation in france and playing some vanilla there, I asked them about their thoughts on Seth (for the lulz) and they just went mental really. It was pretty hilarious.

I still remember it… ESPECIALLY Gouken’s rage:

Gouken Hater: OMG BACK THROW TO ULTRA!! CHEAP!!!
Seth Hater: OMG EVERY SPECIAL MOVE!! CHEAP!
Seth Hater to the extreme: OMG #%!@ING SPD!! CHEAP!!

Thats what I could make it out from those golden age hatemails in SF4.
