new costume goes with the nerfs. I wouldn’t be surprised. how’s he gonna stretch the tin armor out anyhows
Hm. Interesting changes. I wonder if there will be less Seth player in the future.
how often do you see Seth players now?
Give him rocket punch!
or penis.
I mean there already isn’t alot of Seth players to begin with.
Seth isn’t that popular compared to alot of other characters.
Less players would be bad. Be like SSFIV Gen who hardly anyone truely plays.
Lol, U1 > U2 in Seth vs Sagat. U2 servers no purpose other than chipping someone, which isn’t even that great. U1 stops fireballs and jump ins, so Sagat will have a hard time getting in on Seth.
^ That’s only if you’re willing to sit back and play the lame game, which I don’t think Poongko was willing to do. And U2 has that awesome maniacal laugh at the end with the nonsensical bridge pose, which is great for any match up.
Call it the “lame game” if you will, but I play Seth, and if I have to lame it out to win, I’m going to. I usually Turtle almost every match until my opponent messes up or I get my 50-50 after U1, then I rush down. Also, U1 is just better period, you get a meterless 50-50 after U1, you’re not neutral and sometimes negative frames afterward, U1 only does like 30 or some less damage.
Ultra 2 can punish jumps, it just has less range then Ultra 1.
Yeah, but no mix up, only good thing is people can’t ex tatsu it in the air.
Ultra 2 also does less damage than U1 as an anti-air. And yeah, the mixup thing is pretty huge.
Ultra 1 is superior in almost everything to ultra 2 (which is good only for chip damage kill). Aside from Viper Match up (cant catch that flying annoying character into ultra 1 ) I always use Ultra 1. Its existance alone threatens the opponent gameplan, and on hit I can return to zoning or go for the mix up as I please, and if I messed up the timing, I am safe on block, sooo much win in this ultra. I dont know why poongko chooses ultra 2 in Sagat match up, but to each his own style.
Chun Li can punish it on block, I found out the hard way.
Poongko doesn’t zone that’s why he doesn’t care about Ultra 1 at all. Seth’s zoning ability is extremely bad in Super anyway, the only way Capcom could make it worse is if they removed it… oh.
Anyway Ultra 2 is a perfect fit for the way Poongko plays Seth; in your face aggression. Ultra 1 is useless if your always up close and personal.
A lot of characters can ultra through U1. Abel, Chun, Seth, Gen, maybe Cammy or Balrog? Anyway, if you mistime your anti-air U1, a really good player will land and immediately ultra you to punish.
You can use U1 the same way as U2 up close(besides chip), so I don’t see what your point is. Also, it’s not like Poongko is going to be up close all the time, he had many opportunities to use U1(against Mago), which leads to a 50-50 so you can get in.
What does this have to do with anything I just said? Did I question the way you generally approach the Sagat match? No. Did I say U2 was better than U1? No.
So then you can’t use it the same way can you? Can you use ultra 1 with a sonic boom on screen? Ultra 2 can be done in combos that ultra 1 cannot, but I’m sure you know this. The whole point behind Poongko’s reason for selecting ultra 2 over ultra 1 is to garuntee the victory after putting all that hard work in, not allowing the opponent to snatch victory from him after he has practically almost finished them. I know about ultra 1’s 50-50 and so does Poongko, but what is a 50-50 compared to a garunteed victory?
That’s not what I meant, I worded that wrong. What I mean is will there be more or less Seth players if they are turning him into a glass cannon rush down character. With the changes it sounds like Seth will be less able to zone players so it will be his playstyle to stay offensive to win.
For example Sagat is really good but not a lot of people played him even in vanilla because some are not content with zoning all day. I wonder if players get the impression that the new seth is rushdown with lots of options and low health will that increase or decrease his tournament popularity.
At SBO 2010 26% of Japanese players were Sagat.
