Seth Q&A: Ask simple questions here!

EX Tanden has infinite JP :stuck_out_tongue:

The last two pages was very useful, helped all of my inqueries. Time to get creative and find another cool ( and retardedly useless ) flashy combo of my own.

Thanks guys and keep up the great work!!

any tips for playin against vega thats the matchup i have most trouble with??

I hope you find something I haven’t seen. Haven’t found anything new with Seth in months, but there has to be more ;_;

I’m going to be writing up a Seth Guide and getting a few printed up where I work. Not trying to make it too flashy, but at the same time it’ll cost me some money to get multiple printed up.

If someone seems interested, I plan to enter all the information I can pull from these boards that has been verified:
Seth Overview: Move set, Name/Slang, Inputs, Short-cuts, Vitality/Stun
Frame Data
Match-Ups: The Good, The Bad & The Gross
Execution
Gimmicks

I plan to cite everyone in the end as to the contributed information because recognition is important to me, so I believe everyone who has helped me indirectly/directly with the information that is going to go into it is well deserved.

I understand people may think this is a waste because Super comes out in 6 weeks, but honestly I’m doing it for a friend who is going to play Seth at a tournament soon. Meaning if anyone cares to want in, let me know.

I see…

Anyone know why after you anti-air someone with tanden, the second hit whiffs? Hope that gets fixed.

Guys, i know some time ago Seth’s infinite headstomp jump on zangief/sagat was pretty cool. This is the improved version, which is not fullscreen, but 2 screens!

oh wow jalapNo would love to read that seth guide!

I’ve just started playing around with seth over the past couple weeks after getting a bit tired maining claw and though i’m not winning a lot of matches, it has improved my street fighter game as a whole.

but anyway, i would appreciate a guide that is as comprehensive at that saving me the time I dont have to spend trawling through the forums and practising it for myself to decide if it fits in with me

because EX tandem literally grabs them out of the air, so they get air reset when you hit them. yeah it’s odd.

try doing an FA lv2, wait, then ultra with sakura. same deal, except theres some other hoodoo going on that keeps them in hitstun until the launcher connects.

it was old when i recorded it…lol…

yeah i’m responding to a post from a month ago. AT LEAST I’M FCKING POSTING!!!

im still confused as to why seth’s ultra sometimes connects and sometimes doesn’t from either a blocked/focused SB or baited jump-in.

Somnetimes they can block it, but sometimes they cant… i thought it’s unblockable, but even I block it once in a while. what’s going on with it?

You’re asking for a single answer for a lot of questions.

Seth’s ultra is blockable as long as the opponent isn’t in the air. I they are still in the air when the ultra gets to them they will get hit. The opponent cannot be ultra’d for blocking a sonic boom except for the newly found wakeup unblockable setups. Those setups are really hard to execute correctly so if they’re blocking there it’s because the setup wasn’t executed correctly.

Basically you have to ultra them around when they’re at the peak of their jump to AA with ultra. If they are farther away it has to be a bit sooner because the ultra travels along the stage towards the opponent.

If someone focuses a sonic boom and you ultra and they end up blocking the ultra then your reaction time just wasn’t good enough to activate the ultra fast enough.

Alright, cool.

More questions…from a Seth newb.

cr. MP xx the Amazing 100s Kick… Kick Specific? I land the LK more easily than HK, but do people even use HK?

When doing EX SRK, I know that Seth punches like 7 times, but I don’t actually input 7 srk’s, do I? is it still 3?

I think I heard about a SPD shortcut, is it 5 directions and not 8? i.e. :hcb::ub::p:

light attacks only combo into light.Hyakuretsu
medium attacks combo into light and medium.Hyakuretsu
heavy attacks combo into all version of Hyakuretsu

You input 3 SRKs, then just mash punch.

That’s exactly it for SPD.

awesome, thanks.

yeah U2 has some wierd properties…sometimes it fully combos from a EX SRK and then other times it whiffs on just two or three hits…

whats the general view on U2?

If it whiffs you timed it wrong.

Question, does LP.Sonic Boom FADC > Teleport > Mixup work off an untechable knockdown? I keep hearing mixed opinions about it. I’ve heard some people say it works and some say its not working anymore. I’ve never really used the FADC version of the sonic boom teleport mixup when I was first learning Seth in Vanilla SF IV, Hope that it still works…

Picked up seth. But I’m having an awful time landing the down med. Kicks after lightning legs especially shoryuken. Any tips? Or can someone redirect me if this has been discussed before

You just have to learn the timing such that you hit d.mk the second seths jump starts, instead of waiting to see seth jump then trying to d.mk. With practice it’s not too hard.
