is it just me or has teleport been given higher priority than tanden engine and ex lightning legs? so many times I teleported instead of getting the punish I wanted last night. mind you I is using a DS3
With most characters, the DP motion takes priority over quarter circle back/forward.
Are you pressing the :3k: to make it easier on yourself? Or are you using two kick buttons?
Only way you would get a teleport rather than an EX move is by pressing 3 kick buttons instead of 2.
Is anyone having problems Dragon punching - FADC to head stomps VS Cody? I think his hit box is funny, it is a b&b combo for me and I just can’t seem to get it on him except in the corner. JUst wondering if anyone else is having this problem
ill have to test out Cody. Im also having problems doing cr.HP LPshoryu stomps on Ken, could just be me but is anyone else failing at that?
I will check on that too. I found out today that Hakan, juri cant be juggled after cr.heavy punch with a jumping med-punch to shoryuken x 3.
everyone else that I played it worked on though, crazy ass hit-boxs
Why would you ever c.hp > j.mp > srk?
After playing for some time, trying to not make hasty impressions, I’m back with a question:
Anyone else think that he got nerfed pretty bad and U2 is not nearly enough to make up for it? Dive Kick, U1, j.HP, Teleport.
There is a typo in his opening movie! They used “to” instead of "too"
Come on, Capcom…
It’s too early to tell to be honest. On one hand I kinda agree with this, as I used to use teleport and dive kick to play hyper agressively (mix up offense) and have found it difficult to adapt in Super. We have to learn to play Seth slightly differently in Super because he has changed so the same things wont work like they used to. He is still a good character though (maybe not as good as he was before, but only time and investment will tell).
On the other hand if Seth stayed exactly the same in Super as he was in vanilla, he would probably be too strong…
I can’t even do dive kick to blockstrings sequences properly. it’s extremely annoying and disheartening. besides, going for the Sonic Boom>Tele mix-up only to get grabbed because you mistimed a cr.mp is sad. Sure he’s still good, but I doubt he’s nearly as good as he was
Gen got buffed a fuckload though, I was just starting to win in that match-up, and now I’m back to getting raped…
No different from Vanilla. Deep high-blocked divekick is like +1 or +0. They can neutral grab you if you go for a cr.lk. This is why dive kick -> SPD is used so often, because it’ll beat everything they try to do.
I mean people anti-airing me while the DK is starting up there… I don’t know, it just feels weird. I’ll cope, but it was so much better
Hey there,
I have troubles against rushing characters with high damage output (Rufus, Sagat etc…). I was wondering how most of you deal with them.
I also wanted to know if there was some shortcut for the super/ultra. I suck with QCF characters when i’m using a stick. Although I can do most of Seth’s combos, it’s difficult for me to react quickly.
And last thing : Any useful p-links ?
Thanks
Yeah this is my main gripe with Seth in SSFIV, before Seth’s dive kick was like a super sonic jet fighter, now people can anti air him on reaction to a dive kick…
Yeah, I cringed when I saw this.
You mean you’re trying to rush those characters or are them rushing you? Well, I don’t recommend rushing either of them. Especially not Rufus. There are a few who can do it well, but Rufus can take out 80% easily from one mistake you make. Zone Rufus out and be very cautious against Sagat. keep your distance.
No Shortcuts for Super or Ultra, learn the motions properly.
You might want to learn to plink on cr.MP (that’s mp~lp for you) It’s useful on his hit confirm and cl.HK> cr.mp
I was talking about characters who rush you down.
Okay thanks
How to deal with Rufus: throw sonic booms, DP him when he jumps. Don’t let him in, ever. If he gets you in the corner you’re in trouble. Best bet is to block a lot and wait for the right time to DP/counterpoke with cr.lp. Teching throws against a good Rufus is really damn hard. A lot of the time it’s better to get thrown than get divekicked into ultra. Honestly DP’ing is less risky vs Rufus than teching a throw.
How to deal with Sagat: Block a lot and tech throws. If he is relentlessly rushing you down, DP in the middle of his string. If you’re not in the corner you can teleport to be safe (note: EX Tiger Shot catches teleports). Sagat’s only ways in are jump-ins and tiger knee. HP DP/ultra his jump-ins. You can DP Tiger Knee on reaction if it’s done in footsie range. Also, neutral jumps against a predicted Tiger Knee allow you to land a full-jump-in combo. Sonic Boom is your friend vs Tiger Knee. Then he will start throwing fireballs to beat your Sonic Booms. Then you punish him with limbs/ultra 1/EX Hyakuretsu.
Actually dqcf does have a shortcut: :d::df::d::df::r::3p: - :qcf::qcf::3p: is faster to enter, but if you have the life lead at the opposite end of the screen against some characters you can just keep buffering :d::df: until they do something (e.g. fb) and then :r::3p: on reaction and ultra1 them which is useful and much faster than trying to input :qcf::qcf::3p: on reaction.
For close :hk: > :mp: xx :qcb: :lk: the easiest way to get it is with :hk: > :mp:~:lp:~:lk: xx :qcb: :lk: (negative edge) which gives you 3 frames in which to hit the one frame link (on the third frame you get lk instead of mp but at least it combos the same).
Against Sagat and Rufus you really want to zone them, as one mistake will make you loose over half your health. Rufus HAS to rush you down, having no projectiles, so just sb, j.hp and srk him a lot while keeping your distance, though be mindful of random snake strikes etc. Sagat also has to rush you down as if he tries to stay at the opposite end of the screen throwing fb’s you can just focus absorb them until you get ultra1 which is then pretty much guaranteed. Sagat players tend to be really aggressive when rushing down as their character allows for that, so keep that in mind and you can use it to your advantage. I’m sure there’s already plenty of in-depth info about these match ups in this forum though - also check the videos thread for these match ups.
