Yes, lp. Tandem is a great tool that I notice a lot of Seth’s neglect. If you can condition someone to try and backdash from your mix-ups you get free combos or tick mix-ups. I always use mp tandem against poor Claw players that love to use his backflip on-wakeup (OS of course). I have overdone it a few times whilst playing and it caused me to eat a 60% damage combo from Abel.
One thing I enjoy about Seth is the abundance of metre gain and almost always having enough for the option to FADC if things get hairy. The only problem I have now is when I get too ambitious online and screw up st.hk>cr.mp or cr.lp>st.fp(push-back on the cr.lk>cr.lp portion causing the st.fp to do the stretch arms from missing the link) due to input delay and eat a reversal SRK.
how do u do the buffer the spd from crouchin lp or lk ive seen videos of it but cant seem to do it i,ll either jump backwards or the move wont come out n if it does it will miss
You probably are not finishing the motion, thats why you get a jump back and a punch. Start with towards your opponent and make sure you are at up when you press punch. SPD may be missing because you are out of range, crouching opponents can be SPD’d but only when right next to them. Also you cannot SPD someone still in hit/block stun.
But it’s better to do the whole 360 just so that you don’t accidentally press the button too early. Ending back at :df: or neutral means you’ll never get a jump.
You buffer the rotation during the lk animation and return to neutral or :df: or whatever before it’s finished. Then when the animation has finished you do the :hp:. That way you’ll never get a jump. You do not want to buffer the :hp: during the :lk: even though you technically can because the SPD will whiff it it comes out on the first possible frame. If they get hit by your cr.lk you have to wait even longer to hit :hp: but you can still buffer the 360 motion during the cr.lk.
I always do cr.HP xx EX Tanden whenever I can. Somehow I still get super every match. Stun on that is crazy good.
Also, I find that doing a blockstring then canceling the last hit into a lp.tanden catches people off guard quite some times and gives you a free combo.
Anyone here option selects SPD under their dive kicks? it’ has an offensive use during DK mixups, not too much during oki. I’m trying to perfect this, but it’s kinda hard.
If you’d like, I can link you to some videos of mine where I abuse the shit out of DK to SPD. I don’t use the block string to tanden much anymore because of the reversal system against characters with SRKs. They just mash uppercut after they get sucked in.
Then bait the uppercut and punish. Seth is unique in that tandem engine allows him to ‘redo’ a blockstring if they just block. Don’t let them take that away from you.
Also if you tandem from close enough they can’t reversal DP you between tandem and your followup. If you do a cr.lk then it will just hit them for free if they try to DP.
yeah, I’m not afraid of them mashing out of it if I did
It gives you enough blockstun to blockstring them again. Just don’t try it too much, or they’ll jump next time they see the tanden startup and you’ll eat 60% dmg…
One of my favorites to style on people (Nothing special of course): cr.HP xx LP Sonic Boom xx FADC >Headstomps > DK Reset.
I kept it a secret from my room mates, and then busted it out on the big screen at a tournament and I think I made heads explode judging by their reaction. It’s tight shit to do from time to time.
what advices you guys have against a Seth who trows you a sonic boom, then you jump fwd, then Seth jumps up and you get hit with his long arms> i’ve tried FADC the sonic boom but he always caught me with his reach. I’ve tried to jump straight up instead of fwd, but apparently it is an issue too since it can reach you with his hands. Any advice is really appreciated!!!
You are playing a Seth mirror match? Either way, keep in mind that Seth as SHITTY recovery off of any of his Sonic booms, meaning if he doesn’t have bar to burn, just react and jump over the Sonic boom as close as you possibly can to landing on it. Then just block high.
Another idea would be to utilize teleport…
Rofl! Yeah, it was about a month or two ago I pulled it out. I was in training room being boring practicing combos, so I decided “What can I do that is straight retarded but cool.”
Edit: Might as well let you guys know ANOTHER secret of mine: Jumping Forward.MP (The Two-hit Elbow), sometimes it only hits once, but still juggles, correct? Get this, you can combo the One-Hit Elbow into Ultra ANYWHERE on the screen.
I haven’t tried it successfully on the Jump Backward.MP, but it should work.
GO NUTS!
Well, one hit j.MP is VERY old I’m afraid, same thing goes for Ryu and Gouken’s j.MPs. I also knew about the SB FADC thing, you can do EX tanden instead of j.d.MKs. You can also to c.HP xx EX Sonic Boom -> j.d.MK etc. in the corner.
I found it months ago, but I must have missed where someone posted it up? I merely am spreading the knowledge to those who might not know about it either way.
Indeed, Ex Tanden works, but the distance you push your opponent isn’t as far. I aim to corner my opponent and just destroy their chances of survival. Both work though.
Oh yeah? You can do an air-to-air headstomp and if you did it right, you get to do a j.MP before the opponent falls, jump up again, headstompx3, the dive kick will whiff through and you can Super. HA.
