Seth Q&A: Ask simple questions here!

x-up into low fierce xx jab dp -> stomps…

I am sure this probably does more damage than BnB into Kicks, but you basically have to KNOW that your x-up will hit in order to land the low fierce. It is a decent mix-up perhaps if they are mashing throw or etc, but it is a type of 1-shot mix-up (his low fierce is definitely no Abel low fierce though…so slow and the hit-box is quirky). I might suggest going for x-up, low short into etc…

If you really want to know though, I wouldn’t mind doing that later today and posting up with the results of who it does and does not work on.

Haven’t really had the opportunity to look much into the little variances to Seth’s oki game, but I do like doing forward teleport into 360, stomps, or low short mix-up after my opponent quick-rises from a BnB into Hyakku.

Would someone like to offer up some advice on the best time’s are to land Seth’s ultra.
(Character Specific Preferablly)
Or if I’m over looking it just point me in the right direction
I’m having a bit of success with him, but I seem to carry alot of meter that never gets used.

Oh wow. Seth’s ultra is like the best part of his game.

That’s not all, but that’s a good start. Also, random, but RoD is sweet.

Thanks man, I’m starting to feel like Seth may be my main character, as camp as it is to say main.

I just used him today in WWL leaque play and won both of my matches with seth zoning and punishing jumps/whiffs/dizzys. I love how much stun Seth deals out. Just started with him yesterday and was winning a few G1 battles already today as well.
Not saying I’m bout to blow up. But these are realatively decent wins for me, (since Im sub 15000).

THANKS AGAIN

Nice compilation! I play Seth only for fun, he’s a nightmare if you’re a Sim player D:

Any pro mashing tips for getting my ex shoryu to 6+ hits. I’ using the shortcut but get 5hits abut 8 of 10 times

The second hit has to be timed late. Almost too late for it to take the second input. Also, it’s a lot easier from farther away.

looking to join the seth family…is there some sort of special process I need to go through?

welcome…

Just a warning, Seth is a character that is harder than your average new character. Theres no x-copy in Seth-land (no japanese x-copy at least).

Alright, Kiku has said it numerous times and it is beginning to be the number 1 reason as to why I lose with Seth: being put in awkward re-jump situations by your opponent. In which way do we teleport to avoid this nonsense?

Read everything you can, hit training mode, ask questions.

also, assume whatever new thing you think you found is already known and ask before you make a thread. because nothing pisses me off more…

re-jump? i probably know the answer…but…i don’t understand the question.

whoa whoa whoa… hold your horses sir…I said I was looking to main seth full time instead of part time im not new to the forums…christ

at any rate I was wondering if someone could spar with me on PSN to see where my seth stands

Also if you’re doing it from cr.hp, don’t link the srk, wait till they’ve flown up in the air, then do the ex.srk, if you time it right you’ll get 7 hits + even if you only did 5/6 hits it will still do more damage than the linked version.

shadow, i’m game. send invite to my dude,

DaBatCave

these sessions aren’t pretty

oh, sorry.

here’s your complimentary ice pack and bottle of whiskey. learning seth, you’re gonna need em.

Hey guys, I never use these combos in matches because even after trying to perfect them in practice I can’t get do them.

Does anyone know how to link a hyakuretsu kyaku off a crouching light punch? What is the technique I should be using on an arcade stick to get this as reliable as possible?

Also what is the most reliable way to link close standing heavy kick into crouching medium punch? I try pressing the medium punch button as fast as possible towards the end of the kick animation but that is just lame and makes my hand tired quick with little success, lol.

Seth’s lightning legs is slow. You cannot link directly into it like you can say a Shoryuken. The best way to hit-confirm off of cr.lp is cr.lk xx cr.lp -> cr.mp xx mk hyakuretsu. This is a 2-frame link. You can do s.lk instead of cr.lp for a bit extra damage. You can do cr.lk xx cr.lp -> cr.lp xx lk hyakuretsu for a 3-frame link instead of 2, but it does less damage and is less consistent.

In order to get the cr.mp consistently you can plink the cr.mp with cr.lp. If you do this you can do lk hyakuretsu instead in case you accidentally get cr.lp and it does the same damage as the mk version anyway. Be careful not to negative edge and get tandem engine. I actually use the mk version of lightning legs anyways because if the game gets the mp Tandem and mk legs at the same time, the legs out-prioritizes the Tandem because kicks > punches for priority in SF4.

Look at the Seth combo thread for any other combo questions.

It’s just practice. Plinking helps. It is a 1-frame link though and nothing is going to change that. I use visual cues to do it, but I’m not solid on it yet. Basically look for a specific part of the hk animation before hitting the button. If you’re too early (it doesn’t come out), hit it later. If you did it too late (doesn’t combo), hit it earlier in the animation.

I think that animations in SF4 are weird in that they’re over before your character actually resets to neutral. So if you do the link correctly it will look like you’re cancelling out of the very end of the hk animation.

quick question but how useful is C.hp - lp. srk xx headstomps x3 whiff dive kick into super is?

Edit: How come my rep is neg but when I look in my rep sheet it says ive never been reped at all? whats up with that and who and why did someone neg-rep me?

It does less damage than cr.hp -> super but less stun than cr.hp xx EX Tandem -> cr.hp xx EX Tandem -> cr.hp xx lp shoryuken -> stomps and you don’t get the reset situation you do off of the EX Tandem combo. However, it does do better damage than the EX Tandem combo and better stun than the super combo. If you just want good stun and good damage, it is an okay combo, especially since teleport mixup is good after super.

I personally think just doing cr.hp xx EX Tandem once is the most efficient use of meter. But if someone’s being really turtley and you finally hit them, you bet your ass I’m gonna milk that one chance for the most damage with the super.
