Might be that Seth’s shoryu armor-breaks on reversal like the shotos’ ?
^ I think that’s it.
Im pretty sure all non fireball moves break focus on reversal.
However, it seems that Seth’s dp hits twice when it doesn’t connect (blocked or focused) which will break armour. Weird…
I found out today that you can bounce back and forth off the walls doing his headstomp move. You have to be positioned correctly for it to work though, but it’s very confusing for your opponent cause you are all over the screen.
Yeah I thought that was basic knowledge since that’s the first thing I tried when I picked him. Not safe at all agaist Shotos.
So can you only headstomp only on AA Shoryu or Cr.HP xx Shoryu?
Question about Tanden Engine. This is a rly shitty move?
The move is suppose to give me a free hit, but enemy can hit me before. What am I doing wrong?
It is kind of shitty. There are no known set ups for it at this point.
You never get a “free hit” when you pull in your opponent unless at point blank range and one character away (the move gives you a +18 frame advantage at those distances). As for actually punishing your opponent and getting a legitimate combo going, you can barely ever do that unless you happen to pull in someone 1-2 characters away after your opponent has just whiffed a Shoryuken. Do not try to that, though. All versions of the Tendem Engine are 20+ frames slow. You will get countered with a random move or, worse, jumped at and punished severely. It is rather useless as a “projectile by-passer” as well. It is much better to simply focus absorb non-EX fireballs and build up meter for the Tendem Stream.
In short, stay away from the move.
And after Lightening Legs in the corner. There may be more, but these are at least the most practical combos that you would use in a match.
By the way, you can also use the Head Stomps after a LP Double Shoryuken (AA and cr.HP), but it is fairly tough to do, and inconsistant as AA (because the second hit of the Shoryuken may miss).
I think Asianxcore was asking whether you could do anything else other than headstomp after either of those attacks.
Also dancing around just outside of sweep range and throwing jab tandem engine into your footsies is occasionally good if you know your spacing.
Everyone here knows that wake up reversals armor break right?
If they didn’t before, they do now! : D
Holy crap, what is the shortcut for SPD? Lately out of the blue I’ve been getting SPD a LOT when I try to fireball, and it’s driving me nuts.
I usually do it this way:
d/b,d,d/f,f,u/f+P
Basically, move the stick from d/b to u/f counter clock-wise.
That would explain it. I’m going from blocking to a fireball motion and i must somehow be hitting u/f. Stupid hands, away with ye!
Regarding Seth’s ultra:
Is it possible to use it to punish empty jump-ins if timed right, or do they have to be performing an attack for it to land? I’ve been able to land it on opponents jumping towards me about 50/50 but I’m not sure what the conditions I’ve been hitting it were or if it’s just due to my mistiming
The opponent has to be at the peak of their jump when you activate the Ultra in order for you to catch them with it.
Also keep in mind some characters can stall their jumps to avoid the Ultra, like Viper’s Flame Kicks.
ok im going to ask this here, because i didnt see a combo thread. is cr fp x qcb+pp, cr fp really a combo?
because i did j.rh, cr fp x qcb+pp,cr fp x qcb+pp,cr fp x qcb+pp,cr fp x qcb+pp,cr.fp x dp+lp, j d+mk,mk,mk,hk and that did 477 damage and 1000 stun.
i dont have a friend here to test it with, but i tried it with the record function and couldnt get out of it. its also one of the challenge mode combos, so im assuming this is a true combo. pretty good stun for 1 meter!
EDIT: nevermind i just realized that ex tandem costs 2 stocks
Don’t know if this has been posted but:
jab sonic boom(far), instant wall jump, j.roundhouse, st.forward, hyakuretsu(293 dmg)
Oookay.
So I found out something neat with Seth v. Abel- ANYTIME Abel makes you block a F.MK and goes for his dash->Tornado Thorw/Cl.HP mixup, you can teleport out of the mixup. More importantly, I found out that if you do a dp+PPP teleport, you actually recover so quickly that, if Abel did Torando Throw, you can punish him with c.lk combo -> lightning legs before he recovers.
BUT I also found out that the game has some really fucking weird issues with interpreting DP+PPP from crouch, which is really frustrating. I pulled up a input display window to make sure I wasn’t screwing it up and, sho nuff, I’m doing DP+PPP perfectly from crouch, but I’m getting EX Shoryu instead, even though I’m pressing all three buttons on the same frame.
Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a way to circumnavigate it? According to the game I’m inputting it properly, and yet it’s giving me a totally different move.
