i actually tried it in training mode, i activated storm while the dummy is waking up, while i input an ultra for the dummy, and seth doesn’t get hit no matter what, it just beats any ultra
STORM the super one, and yes your right its not invincible, hit the lab again and did different stuff and i figured out that if you activate it to your opp. as close as possible it’s basically invincible, but if there is a margin of distance between you, it will hit you…
i think its a glitch/bug? i dunno
here’s what i did:
did a sweep>dash’d>immediately activated tanden storm>then set the dummy to do a wakeup ultra
…you do it at a range where the cr.mk will only hit if they walk into it or you counter-poke their own poke, like Ryu’s cr.mk. Sakura does this all the time with cr.mk xx shooken.
Did anyone see any use of http://shoryuken.com/f263/seth-handbook-s-i-n-dustry-247718/ (The Stuff about Jf. HK, after the Paragraph.) btw Im gonna put some more stuff into that handbook and share it with you guys since I’m off for the christmas break =).
Yeah, I’ll be honest I died a little inside during a Gen vs Guile match where they talked about gen and managed to get about every sentence filled with incorrect info about Gens cross-ups lol. LERN KARAKTERS BRO
Eh, even Ultradavid & Seth Killian messed up on the commentatry during the Daigo VS Valle match-up. Stating Daigo whiffed his follow-up to ultra which allowed Valle a potential comeback. Daigo had no follow up option at the time, besides building meter through whiffed attacks. But then, from personaly experience on other games, you miss/forget things when commentating.
Dunno how new or really good this is, but it’s pretty sweet seeing that c.MK xx any SPD works to break focus attack when using c.MK on the focus. I’m thinking this could be Seth’s best focus breaker on people who want to try to use it as an attack or perhaps try dashing forward through c.MK; thinking you did f.HP or sweep, or are just antsy to get in.
Only weakness is if the player backdashes out of focus and is possibly within range to punish whiff SPD. If they are, it’d most likely be a minor punish, unless they have ultra and the reactions.
Those who don’t know why this works: Seth’s c.MK, when it lands and is canceled to a special move, gives him some forward movement. It’s more noticeable if you cancel to tanden engine and see how far he moves forward before the pull animation occurs.
I think spd is better. it has less recovery frames compared to an SRK with invincibility, it gives a good mix-up opportunity, and it has better damage. On top of that, 360 input is smoother for me.
Yeah and I think what they do after focus depends on who has the life lead. I’m sure you could find a lot of people in that situation where they try to let focus rip or even dash forward.
Speaking of dashes though, I noticed the other night that sometimes grabs, be it normal grab or spd, actually whiff on a player when they dash forward. I can’t say this with any certainty at all, and I’d try testing this myself if I could have my ps3 hooked up right now, but the other night I was sessioning with some friends and it seemed to happen a couple times during or after one player’s wake-up. Might’ve been that the throwing player was mistiming the throw, but it was strange to see and hear the throw animation immediately followed by somebody dashing forward at them. I’m wondering if forward dashes also have a unthrowable property like backdashes.
Along with that, would anybody like to test if close HK actually has an improved max range? I was using a lot of close HK that same night since it’s part of my style, and sometimes it’d come out when I thought I was at a distance where only far HK would work. Makes for a good tanden engine setup by following “close” HK with c.MK xx tanden or to legs if you’ve got the reactions (I know I don’t, especially since this is still being explored.)
Pretty sure forward dashes will evade most grabs if timed poorly because most of them put the opponent in an airborne state. Back dashes do the same thing but IIRC they also have some invincibility frames.
Didn’t notice anything with cst.HK when I was rolling around in training mode. But Seth’s nj.HK has a different hit box than the one in the video - very slightly less range. EventHubs has a scan that seems more accurate with the red hit box. In addition, I’m 100% sure that nj.HP has a worse hit box than j.HP does. Sucks, because it really lessens the potential.
