Skullgirls wasn’t trying to be on console in the early development process. That changed when mike z got in to the picture.
hey man its more complicated then that.
although I agree with some of your points, people HAVE been trying to promote those smaller scenes, for years.
its not like everyone in those scenes are complaining whiney idiots who try to force their games down others throats, its just a vocal minority, and their
are people like that for every game, including capcom.
You simply can’t completely ignore the power of corporate branding on products. I know some people who straight up won’t try some games because they don’t say Capcom on them. Like, that was their reasoning.
Some people don’t drink Pepsi because it ain’t Coke.
pretty self explanatory?
(╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻)
I see the same god damn argument every single time. Every single one of those games, especially BB, VF and MB have huge scenes. It’s just that they don’t all exist in this “Mecca” that is America. Unfortunately, America / Japan is the place to be for FG’s. There is no argument there, but “Stop acting like crabby old men, get off your asses, and promote it”
Yeah cool, Let me book that Cross-Continental flight to play videogames with you.
I would say it’s ignorance, but that’s too far. It’s just that those scenes do not exist in America. I can play Blazblue, Guilty Gear, Skullgirls and even Arcana Heart locally, and I live in England. I’m sure it’s the same for France too.
Sorry if that is what you already meant, but I hear this argument all the time and it drives me insane. Just because it’s not Capcom / EVO / Mega Bucks does not mean the scene does not exists. I’m typing this whilst genuinely butthurt. Have another flip
(╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻)
I understand that, but acting like whiny bitches certainly won’t help your scene grow.
People are going to play what they want to play. There’s no reason to hate on them for it.
Well, the only thing you can do is just deal with it and keep playing with the people you’re already playing with. Some games just don’t catch on in America like they do in other places, and vice versa.

SFxT made trouble with Ono-san and now Seth Killian? Make that double trouble indeed…
I like how people are thinking that with Seth leaving Capcom is a sinking ship when they’re not. The way i see it this puts them in a position to change things in the company for the better(MAYBE).
We don’t know why he left and he more likely wanted to do something different for a change of pace.
I don’t know at this point, Capcom isn’t fucked nor are they done for. People really need to knock it off with the conspiracy theory BS.
i 100% agree, but very few people act like ‘whiney bitches’, as i mentioned, its just a vocal minority. lots of people in those niche communities (from my experience) show the game they love, explain why they love it, try to get people play a few games, and then take it from their.
there is no reason to disrespect someone if they try something and then have legitimate reason as to why they do not like it. nothing can be done there. i was referring to the people who have never tried it, and are judging based on brand, not content, which certainly does happen. can’t help but lose respect for someone when they pull shit like that.
Seth will just be replaced by a corporate robot. Thats not good for anybody.
He had nothing to do with it, I just was talking about people leaving Capcom in general.
maybe if other fighting game makers appealed to the american fgc, then it wouldn’t be ignored. the american fighters base is an afterthought to guilty gear, arcana heart and kof developers. more than half of these is either arcade based (arcades are dead) or needs to be imported (hopefully a dumbass like you should know why this is a bad idea).
you’re pretty sure because you ASSume everything.
if you really thought that ed boon would actually step up his shit, you’re more dumb than i thought or you’re delirious.
because outselling another game is more important than anything else. yeah, sure guy.
Seth gets replaced by SETH aww fuck
Okay, but you were replying to a post that said “Damn SFxT got everybody leaving…” so it kinda doesn’t make sense if you just meant leaving Capcom in general.
the amount of players that said that they play what has more competition despite they like it or not says otherwise
and no one is hating them for that
what many hate though is the stupid notion that there was a drought in fg, when it wasnt, and that if capcom stops producing new fg there would be a new drought, despite other companies would keep making new games
maybe you think that its exagerated but brand loyalty is something that is very strong when the major part of people decides to buy and play something
also it doesnt help that there is a lot of misinformation regarding the other games, where you have a lot of people calling them mash fest, lol animu and stuff like that, bashing them on regular basics and stuff like that
bonus points for all the people that hate on them without playing those games at least once
Don’t forget that Americans hate not only learning but actually working for anything.
There are a couple reasons why we have this going on.
- The economy is shit and new IPs are always a risk regardless of medium, but this is far too true for videogames.
- Companies bend themselves too much for the customers who don’t really know what they want AND don’t know what’s out there.
- You’ve got people in the board of directors that are in it for the money. Their passion is not in making games but just making money. Not only that, but it seems that most companies, minus Nintendo who’s a weird but lovable company, don’t have developers in that group.
In my opinion, companies are taking the path of least resistance and are too scared to try something new like they used to.
That presumes he ever had much say in the first place, I tend to believe he had very very little.
Look up the interview. He tells (at least his version of) the story in great depth. I don’t particularly like or trust the guy, but in this case I’d take his word over yours.

[]He was actually, you know there both for when he hooked up with the Skullgirls guys and the pitch meeting
[]He has absolutely nothing to gain by crediting SF4, and no reason to lie about it.
[*]You on the other hand have a very specific narrative you like to promote about the history of fighting games, and that narrative has a vested interest in SF4 not being important.

I meant folks leaving that aren’t just capcom employees this game has hurt the community bad
Nintendo is pretty nutso too, I don’t even get their logic sometimes. (Imagine all the money an iphone/android/whatever Mario or Zelda would make, but they apparently won’t give up complete control to make one).
At risk of sounding culturist, Japanese game developers just seem insane, and the bigger the crazier.
…I wasn’t talking about you?

From someone who’s still relatively new to the scene, talking to Seth when i saw him was quite an eye opener. What really made it stoodout is how happy he seemed at the event and the joy from seeing someone so relatively young enjoy it all, which wouldn’t have really had happen if never joined Capcops. So in all, it’s a shame to see him go. I’m sure everyone hopes for the best.
For kicks, everyone should go re-read These
