Seth Killian Leaving Capcom

I’m pretty this isn’t the last we are gonna Seth. Just call it a hunch…

lol, yeah to many games
i like that every post that you do only confirms that you are a fucking idiot

Also, this I won’t be as disheartened by this news as long as Seth maintains visibility in the community. He needs to be on the mic at Evo.

There goes my favorite Capcom employee. We might not get the juicy details of inner working of Capcom right away but at least now Seth won’t bite his tongue about what he personally thinks of the current games anymore. Looking forward to that

I met Seth at NYCC 2010 and spoke to him. Probably one of the most passionate people I have ever met. As someone who works in marketing, I feel bad for the stuff he probably had to put with regards to the higher-ups in Capcom.

And we will see Seth again. Aside from the Keth Sillian jokes, I wonder who’s really going to replace a guy of his caliber.

No! Not Seth. :frowning: seriously, what is going on these days?

I expect some asshole to ask him
"Where’s MegaMan in UMVC3?! He was so coolz in mvc1 and mvc2! Not fair guyz! "
MegaMan ain’t that great.
MegaMan sucked

On a related note though,
It sucks to see him go. He was always a joy to watch during play, interviews and commentary.
Like others have said before, he probably signed a NDA so no dirt.
He might pass on some info to close friends, but maybe that’s not how he rolls :KanyeShrug:
Well, time to read Domination 101 as a tribute to the man and remind ourselves why we actually play these games in the first place.

THEY MAY BE GONE…
BUT THEY WILL** NOT** BE FORGOTTEN

This is a sign of the beginning of the end.

Ono gone, seth gone, no new projects coming out. This could be it. At least we got Marvel3 out of it.

Remove Ono and I’ll like that post.

This better?

(its jared if you cant tell)

Ono was the biggest part in reviving the FGC…He’s a lot smarter than his trolling leads most to believe.

That picture is truly worth a thousand words.

This is gonna be unpopular but dude was more of a victim if anything. Mike Z established that the success of SF4 showed mainstream companies that fighters can still make profit and if that led to VF5FS and other various fighters then I’m happy. We can talk all day about the decisions he made but at the end of the day everyone had a hand in the games you either like or dislike from Capcom. Blame the company as a whole, that’s really manly. #capcomhatebandwagon

Seth will truly be missed and at this point we gotta remember the good times.

That…is…debatable. I never got the impression that he was the head honcho making all the decisions. I always got the impression that he was an idea man and also a PR guy. Plus you could make the argument that SF4 was popular because of marketing and it brought back the SF2 cast. I won’t deny the game had a big effect on the community for the best though.

It’s still terrible.
Replace Jared with Tomo.
Since y’know, Tomo actually gave a fuck.

what mike z its partially true though, companies like netherrealm, revergelabs and sega (maybe)
but for companies like arcsys, snk and namco the success of sf its quite irrelevant since they were releasing fighting games before capcom released sf4 and would keep releasing games even if sf4 wasnt been made, or capcom stops releasing fighting games again

the fgc wasnt dead, the interest of the general public, i could give you that

Why does everyone forget the battle director when assigning blame/credit for fighting games?

That is enough for me, more selection is better…I NEEEEED DAT VF son. There was no fighting game drought but Capcom definitely paved the way for lesser known fighters because, love it or hate it SF is too strong of a brand. Ono had to fight tirelessly to convince the jerks internally to get SF going again and to this day they still hate the fact it exists. I stopped playing SF4 incarnations a year ago but respect it, we can all dream about another slim sprite based SF game that is 2d but there are tons of fighters on the market to keep me satisfied.

You underestimate man’s capacity for stupidity.

SFxT was announced in July 2010. Inafune left in October 2010, and I’m not sure what he has to do with SFxT anyway.

That’s NDA sad to say. Anything related to the games in terms of sales, business, reasons for game changes that are not already public all fall under an NDA and if Seth says anything and word gets out he could easily get sued. You could hear his opinion on these topics though.

I met Seth at the MvC3 release party in San Francisco. Dude was really cool and we chatted a bit as we were drinking a beer. He seems really genuine and loves this community to death. I hope he finds whatever he’s looking for with whatever company he joins.

I’m not here to start rumors myself, but I heard through the grapevine that working for Capcom is an incredibly stressful environment and both Ono and Seth leaving proves it really. I’ve heard (note not from their mouths) that employees aren’t happy working for Capcom. Its not that they don’t love the job its that they are overworked and the development windows for games are stupid small compared to other companies games dev time. In addition Capcom’s PR has issues with wasting money for no return. I’m really glad I got to go to the MvC3 release party but um…it was free for me and anyone who could get in. And it cost approx $100,000+ to throw from what I understand (including freebies they gave, hiring musical guests like DJ QBert, David Banner, the Hieroglyphics, GhostFaceKillah, etc) I think Capcom will continue to do fine, they just need to manage their money better.
