Seth Killian Leaving Capcom

Maybe now he will stop spewing bullshit on Capcom’s behalf. Damage controlling those horrid games must’ve been tough.

Well, this was partly my point. I mean, a lot of people blame Ono for everything, but he was just another victim of Capcoms endless reign of terror.

Really, he fought with Capcom to get SF4 made in the first place. And whether or not it’s his doing the game was such a success doesn’t matter because it never would have existed if not for him. He, with S.kill was a true believer in SF4 as a revival of Street Fighter as a series, and Capcom wasn’t. And now, it sells millions, Capcom takes over and now we have SFxT. (Notice in Seth Killians blog post and Ono’s Eurogamer interview neither of them even mention the game…pretty much confirming this was not their passionate project, but higher up Capcom’s)

Ono’s comments on his twitter and in interviews (Especially the Eurogamer interview) tell me he knows what the community wants and fights Capcom for every inch. A lot of times unsuccessful. One of the most telling quotes from Ono is one I cannot find any more, buried deep within the depths of twitter, so I will paraphrase but when asked what he thought of Skullgirls he responded with “Its a good example of what you can do without corporate demands.” I think people are really harsh regarding Ono, but I think he was great to and for the FGC, and its sad to know he’s no longer working on fighting games.

EDIT: Of course this isn’t about Ono…and I am very sad to see Seth Killian leaving Capcom, but I hope he finds happiness in whatever he does next. Truly one of the greatest fighting game players of all time. Not just in play, but in how much he truly gave back to the community his whole life.

Here’s hoping S-Kill keeps rolling after he leaves. Domination 101 should be required reading for anyone hoping to shake off the tyranical oppressive harness of scrubdom.

Im glad to see this happen. Capcom doesnt deserve Seth.

What makes me sad is when I see shit like this

or shit like this

And comments like that…
CAPCOM IS NOT THE ONLY DAMN COMPANY OMG.
GET THAT THROUGH YOUR DAMN HEADS SHEESH

Sad to see him go, he really did feel like “one of us”. In some way I hope this means Capcom is going to slow down their fighting game releases, give SF4 and MvC3 some real years to breathe.

^THIS so hard. thats all he did in his later years.

Go to Atlus.

Doubt it will happen… but it would be nice if he would.

What gets me is his trolling. Why no straight answers? Why dress up like Blanka and make an asshole out of yourself?

Other than that, it’s really hard to say what his role was because of how Japan works. If the public knew his exact role and what were his decisions it would help paint a better picture. I can see Capcom demanding STrekken. But I can’t see them demanding that the games become dumbed down with comeback mechanics and easy inputs and mash out reversal and etc.

Do I hate the man with a passion? No.

I just think he doesn’t deserve much in the way of accolades.

He kinda’ reminds me of George Lucas in that he had ideas and got the ball rolling but he wasn’t the main creative force behind the projects and a lot of the best ideas were not his.

He WAS one of us. I don’t really know what to say at the moment - not too surprising, and a downer I guess, but he really did live the dream in so many ways and I just hope that he gets involved in something awesome in the FGC very soon

Seth, you’re a hero, and your presence in Capcom will be sorely missed - but may you find happiness and hadoukens elsewhere

I’m pretty sure that he couldn’t give straight answers because of company reasons. There’s only so much you can say or reveal without a company blowing you up for it.

Also, why can’t you see Capcom demanding all of the easier stuff? Capcom is a company that is out there to make money. The fighting game community is a small niche community that pales in comparison to the majority of the gaming community. With comeback mechanics, easy inputs, mash out reversals, and auto combos, it allows the non fighting gamer to feel like they have a chance and be stronger.

You say stuff like this, then turn around and wonder why nobody plays VF.

with all the stupid shit capcom has done within the past year, i’m not surprised Killian is leaving the company. i don’t think he wants to experience the fallout from capcom’s next stupid decision.

Makes me look forward to the fireworks he spoke of for sfxteken then bails. lol

I heard seth killian took some hsien ko tech with him that he will unleash this EVO. His post was pointless capcom dont need a community manager aka “This game will be great” guy. oh well the gravy train derailed boo hoo maybe he can get a job at activision and hype their wares

LOL I totally remember that statement, glad you brought that up. Now that is HIGHLY suspect…

BREAKING NEWS!

Seth Killian has announced the start of a new non profit called The Seth Killian Foundation (SKF). The SKF will be there in order to raise awareness, provided understanding and lobby in behalf of cross handed players. They will start their awareness campaign with a series of events aptly titled “Cross the Cross” where various arcade games will be present with a twist: the button/joystick layout will be reversed in order to show the general public the hardships of being a cross hands player. Among the games featured Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo, Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, Mortal Kombat 9, Donkey Kong, Pac Man, Asteroids and Centipede.

I was talking about capcom. This thread is about seth who worked for capcom. so it’s the… end for capcom. Where did I mention other companies? Don’t make assumptions, it makes an ass out of… well, just you really. .

Capcom: where making sense is a Wellness violation.

Im pretty sure his reason for leaving was how Capcom handled their latest releases and he wants to jump off the sinking boat before the rest of his rep drowns with Capcom.
