See I just don’t believe they listened to him that much though (altho’ probably occasionally).
The entirety of his job was convincing us that Capcom was listening to the community. It’s my personal pet theory that part of the reason he’s out is that the stress of having to present the BS he had to present all the time (ie being forced to lie to a community he loved for the sake of his job)
I’m an attention whore.
I could agree with you lickety but here’s thing…people don’t want to dumb the game down any more than it has to. We got companies reaching out the casual’s who don’t want to put in the work to be good like how some of us did back in the arcade days and when you have that happening, it teaches bad habits.
oh, look who is back
i love how every fucking idiot thinks that when someone dislikes a game its because they suck at it, yeah, that must be it, you cab keep being a sad dellusional troll
First of all, at some point I’m gonna kill that “Dumbing down” bullshit. I suspect it’ll take me several years though
Here’s the thing. What built fighting games was widespread appeal in arcades and people across all kinds of social groups and cultures playing them. It was primarily about winning and playing, exploration was a secondary part of that (and an expensive one, unless you were really good friends wtih the owner). The ‘nerd’ thing is a side effect and a contributor to the decline of FGs for so long. As most players fell off and went into other things, all that was left were the extremely locked-in and the specialty developers catering to them.
The ‘nerd thing’ Lickety is so charmingly referring to is more about that, a fringe group closing itself off and getting more and more extreme. In most places it became about exploration and discovery because the wide range of social/competitive interaction was simply not available to people outside of a few places (which is why the centers of the community were LA, NY and the Bay for so long). It’s gotten to the point that people have forgotten what it was like in the good times, and think the weird mutant cave creature the community became is what made the games strong.
(edited to fix incorrect name reference)
But that hasn’t changed. People are still putting in work to get better. I don’t see anybody winning tourneys overnight.
All these games have done is made it easier to get into, not master.
When some random comes from out of nowhere to win EVO, then you should get worried.
LOL
Still doesn’t know what a DF is.
I know it hasn’t changed but my worry is companies taking it a step further in making it even easier to get into when it ain’t necessary.
Lol at you calling me retarded for having an actual different opinion with some thought.
Plenty of people are having fun exploring these games that you hate because you’re trash at them. How else do you think we have all these people coming out with combo videos, tutorials, and the like? Just because you got your ass whipped at them by some rookie mashing magic series or DP doesn’t make them any less capable of exploration. Why else do you think tier lists are constantly shifting? Why else do you think that characters that were once thought of as useless are being taken more seriously? Hell, there are still people that haven’t used M.O.D.O.K., Jill, or Rocket Raccoon to their full capabilities. Captain America has just become much more of a threat. The AE tier list is still up for debate.
That’s why people say you suck at the games. You got beat down in them by somebody you thought you shouldn’t have lost to, declared the game scrub-friendly, and went to go play something else that was more your speed.
I don’t see that happening. They made games easier to get into so that we could have the scene that we have today. More people are interested in fighting games than ever. Stream viewership and tourney entrants have at least tripled in recent years. Now that all these people are into the FGC, games will probably stay at the level that they are now, or they may even increase the barrier of entry, since people have so many choices now, and that they’ve gotten used to fighting games.
See the lower skill ceiling in this game, and the decrease in depth? See that the best players are still winning? Then those first two things don’t matter. Argument destroyed, simpleton.
Can we be told that Mega Man 9 “dlc secret” now?
See more people showing up to play? See the new names in the community? See the newer players giving the best players a hell of a fight, instead of getting rolled over? See the growth in the community?
Rebuttal destroyed, dumbass. Go practice up instead of getting curbstomped at everything you touch.
And the Megaman 10 Bass bullshit.
They pulled the same shit with that as they did with the SFXTK characters.
lol
I bet they put those “extra” sprites in Mega Man 9 for the sole purpose of
trolling later on saying “buy the dlc” shit. KNOWING people will look for
this stuff. Just all part of the plan of these “leaks” and such.
