I wasn’t expecting him to do flawless job, but at times he really looked just “lost” during commentary and tried to make up something to cover himself.

as a whole, i just didnt care that much for the commentary. s-kill is just so. damn. dry. i appreciate the input, but his hype just sounds…not very hype-y. (i know thats lame, but i cant think of a better way to describe it) skisonic was fine, james chen was good. i missed chris hu and the general more laid back attitude of the commentary from the other major tourneys.

You could hear sessler thinking he was off the stream mic saying something for X-Play at EVO so apparently the only reason they had him on was because they were going to use it for the show.
Yeah he sucked, poor seth was having to explain everything to him. Deff should have had keits or Skisonic on there. I’d have been pissed if i were them, putting in all that time over 3 days just to be cut out by the network personality.
Wish i could give negative rep to the stream dying and sessler commentating haha. I thought for sure sessler would leave after the MvC3 exhibition… sadly he did not.
To be fair though, seemed like he was trying to keep up… And Seth was flubbing some stuff too, like saying Vangief threw out U2 because he anticipated a jump out.

oh yeah i forgot about dogface. grade a on commentary, amusing even when censored… really made the stream enjoyable to watch
Honestly, if not for Sessler this entire night would’ve been a disappointment. He caused me to laugh harder than I have in a long time, multiple times.
Another good moment was Seth commenting that Mike Ross was good looking.
This. The conversations I was somehow carrying on with people with 1 minute intervals between messages, all while reading hilarious comments from random people made for a good time. Then everybody just tearing into G4 and Level|Up when the stream crashed.
The worse part of all of that was that he just didn’t understand how scoring works. He kept referring to the rounds score as if it alone determined who wins. For example, Daigo would win the first game 2-1. Ricky wins the first round of game 2 and Adam says something like, “Ricky evens it up at 2 rounds a piece”.
Man, I would hate for him to commentate on tennis.

evo really needs to look into getting some pro’s doing the stream. Sesler or not, its tool central @ evo stream.

The highlight for me of Sessler’s commentary was when he declared “that is it” after Ricky had won a round. There was a long, awkward silence, and you could barely make out Seth telling Seller something–most likely that Sessler was mistaken.

I understand that G4 was there for business reasons, and I understand that, for those reasons, a G4 personality (Sessler) had to be a part of the commentary. At the same time, it takes away from the experience for everyone when you have someone who is ignorant of the game. It would have been better for everyone if Sessler had been instructed to keep his comments to a minnimmum or provided him with a list of bullet-points or topics to bring up during the commentary.
Did anyone give this any thought at all? It really seems like Sessler just kind of showed up five minutes before he was set to go on the stream and was thrown into the Lion’s Den with absolutely no preparation.
Not a good look for Sessler or EVO.

It really cheapened the experience not having the commentators we were with all weekend. I guess that’s the cost of exposure.
I really hope fight games don’t turn out like the x-games…
