So you want to play Marvel on the 360, huh… We can at least setup a side tournament.
We have around 80 Xbox 360’s last time I checked. Think we have 8-10 copies of MVC3 for the 360 lying around.
I myself am a 360 player as well, but since EVO runs everything on PS3, they set the standard for most other major tournaments to also use PS3’s. In the future I really want to start running tourneys on both systems.
We are supplying all of the setups for Seasons Beatings, maybe you can talk them into switching to the 360 DJ, there’s still time and we’re down for whatever!
First you state that people didnt settle on a version of 3s back in the day because “that’s what we got.” How wrong you are. The PS2 version of 3s was FAR from arcade perfect. Therefore, people did just settle for it after a while. Otherwise, all 3s tournament would have been on arcade cabs.
Secondly, you go on to say that people should have the option to play on xbox if they want… which I totally agree. People should have that option. So how about you run a tournament for all the MvC3 players, and make it 360 only. You pay out of your pocket to rent all the equipment needed for a tournament the same quality that UFGT7 was. Sure, you can have people bring set ups, but then every time you play a new opponent, its on a new set up. I hate going from flat screen, to crt, to asus monitor, to 13 inch TV… Sorry, but that isnt how you run a big event. This isnt 2002 any more. All major tournaments need to, and should have the same set ups are every station for regularity.
Now to touch on the section of your quote that I bolded out above.
eh hem… ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME!? You group the SF4 players with the scrubs, when you seem to consider yourself a MvC3 player? I mean, I play both SSF4AE and MvC3… and let me tell you, MvC3 is the scrubbiest game out right now. All due respect to Noah, but cmon, hes 8 years old and he took top 48 at Evo. Let me repeat. An 8 year old TOOK TOP 48 AT EVO IN MVC3. Cmon son. Dont group scrub and SSF4AE together when you are a Marvel player. Now I’m not saying that SSF4AE is the hardest game to play in the world, but when compared to MvC3… Yea nuff said.
While no one argues the fact that MvC3 is better on 360, you are asking for something that is ridiculous. My best solution for you, is that if you dont want to play on PS3… dont come. Personally, I would like to play both games on 360, but that just isnt the tournament standard right now. Either get used to it, or get used to not going to 95% of major tournaments.
Well you had an 8 year old make top 48 in Marvel at evo and you had a 13 year make top 32 in AE at evo. So you can make a case for both being scubby if you go by those standards.
After you sign up for one game, you can click on “Continue Shopping” if you’d like to add different games to your list, but you can only sign up 1QTY still per game.
You can definitely commentate during 3rd Strike finals. We’d be happy to have you.
What do you mean by ‘something more official regarding ST’? Zenblaster is bringing his cabinets and we are running a side tournament, $10 entry, 70/20/10 payout.
Just nitpicking here, but on the registration website, the rules for all the fighting games state that semi’s and finals will be 3/5 rounds and best of 3 games.
Is this wrong and it should be 2/3 rounds best of 5 games or is this the new hotness in tourney play to be Tekken style rounds?
There are numerous Marvel and AE players that play on PS3 exclusively for the pad, which is one of the reasons the PS3 was used by EVO as well. I personally know a player that due to a hand deformity cannot play on stick, or the 360 controller, and so the tournament being on PS3 is of huge importance to him. Most of the major tournaments have been, and those coming up, are also on PS3, so there is something to be said for a tournament standard pre-existing.
Must have copied the Tekken rules over on accident! It is 2/3 best of 5 for all 2d fighting games, good eye Heroic! Changes are being made as we speak!
Zenblaster has confirmed that he will be at this event w/ his cabs and he will have ST & Vampire…
Yeah, fighters will all be 2/3 rounds the entire duration of the tournament, and 2 out of 3 games until Winners/Losers/Grand finals (which will be 3 out of 5 games).
