Sentinel Kneejerk Patch for Skullgirls?

Well i didn’t play this game for freaking SF4 combos, i played it because it was supposedly like marvel. And if they do that IPS this will NOT be like marvel so most likely i will quit it. Marvel is ToD Marvel is resets too, people make it seem like the ToD’s are easy too. If you can hit ToD 100% of the time you should be winning every damn tournament that is held.

Ok - If they are getting a “free” bug patch then I can perfectly understand wanting to take advantage of that and fix as many bugs as possible in addition to the EU/US psn compatibility issue. Although… is that bug only present on the Playstation version of the game? If that’s the case then why would Microsoft be giving them a free update? You would think that only Sony would allow them to update the game. So why is it that both consoles are getting this balance fix? Or are they?

Also this is clearly not bug fixes. Like it or not non-game breaking bugs in fighting games become an integral part of the game itself. DHC / TAC Glitch anyone? To change them in any way is a balance change. You should see the lengths people go to in the Doom 2 mod community to intentionally PRESERVE all the bugs. Everything from running at 150% speed when you strafe and move forward to making it so when you jump into a wall at a specific speed and angle you can get the gun on top. “Plasma Bump” for all you old school fans. But I digress… once the game is released they’re an integral part of the game and changing them is not a bug fix but a balance change.

It’s impossible to argue however that all of these are “bug fixes” - I mean look at the list… not to mention the IPS being completely overhauled. Weather or not I agree with the balance changes is irrelevant. The fact is that they are there.

I respectfully disagree with the argument of “nobody knows when the DLC characters will be” so we have to make these changes now. It makes it sound like these changes and decisions are being rushed which worries me even more. Maybe the DLC characters take 9 months before they come out instead of 6 or 7. I highly doubt that as I’m fairly convinced that Mike wants those DLC dollars and wants them while the game is still popular but even if that’s the case… is the game really that bad in its current state? Everybody reading this thread obviously likes the game…

Why is there so much drama about Excellebella? If the game really is about resets, let her have a good one! As it is, it’s incredibly easy to upback against Cerebella and get out of her vortex, while other characters have ways in and ways to stay in. If Excellebella is supposed to be unblockable on the way up from a jump, let her be able to actually catch people jumping back with it.

I see no huge issue with it.

People don’t believe that good character need change. It’s the ‘glasses buff’ issue.

That’s kind of why the IPS needed to be changed, Mike prefers the back and forth play it seems.

I was personally expecting Evo to be a nom loop fest if they weren’t using the patch.

i will probably be dropping double and I have no shame in admitting this.

The biggest nerf I’m worried about with double is if that hitstun lowering on j.fp (losing 10 frames of hitstun if I read that right) will screw up a lot of the air to air into combos that she’s capable of. In case you haven’t run into it, j.fp as an air to air right now gives you time to land and either lp or mp into rh to juggle as a full combo from middleish jump heights. Losing that could suck.

I know HK HB invuln was an accident, but losing the otg off all of them actually does screw up a couple things for me though I’d see it being a bigger deal for rushdown characters.

@duckie, not annoyed by teleport nerf at all because I hate pretty much all teleports in fighting games :stuck_out_tongue:

Really though if they’re patching, they need to fix the load times that happen on some 360s. I know a couple guys who won’t play because of that

Who wouldn’t prefer the back and forth? The back and forth is what got people to stop playing their games to run over and watch 2 guys go nuts in MVC2 at tournaments for years. Nobody likes TOD’s/Infinites because they take away from the amount of presence of mind you need to win the fight.

Everyone is dropping Double except Double point players, time to jump on that nazi princess.

Everybody dropping Double will be very surprised at how effective Double will still be. Especially if you play a 3 character team there’s no reason to drop Double.
Size 2 Double assist players I can see switching…but they might as well just switch to a Size 3 Double team.

I’ll just play Parasoul/Cerebella cause cerebella is a normal character and not broken.

i actually dont see how the extra 3 frames of recovery is going to have any relevance at all in high level play, since anybody with half a brain is gonna use an assist to cover the teleport anyway. its not like you see dante and vergil players on mvc3 throwing out teleports willy nilly without having an assist backing them up.

the only people this will make a difference to is bad players who like to spam it without thinking about making it safe before hand.

no? LOL you’ve got to be kidding me. Umvc3 is always most of the time the final game of the tournament because it is the most hype i’m not sure if you’re being sarcastic but numbers don’t lie, you can hate it but it’s still the most people yelling and getting hype than every other game out there point blank. And it is ToD heavy and the ToDs are EASY, skullgirls is harder and people still complain mostly because they have shit execution.
