Seimitsu buttons Lets talk

I usually rest my fingers over the buttons and then press to actuate. I’m trying to change my playing habits to hovering my fingers and pressing the correct input when I need to. Not sure if this is my accurate way of playing but its something new.

Ah, I can see where you are coming from now.

I guess what I mean is that I dont have experience with seimitsus to know if thats the better choice for me  will have to try them out more

I’d like to build a seimitsu stick eventually. I owned a super gun ordered from Japan back in 1999. I’m almost entirely certain it was full seimitsu because I wanted sanwa at the time (just from the aesthetic). But after using it I loved the feel. I like the flatness of the buttons. What I dislike about convex and concave buttons is that they don’t register right to my senses. One always feels pressed while the other always feels unpressed. Something about the flat surface registers “pressed” in my mind and I love the feedback I could feel of the switch. Granted, from what I’ve read in this thread, those buttons were discontinued but after trying sanwa I’m eager to return to seimitsu.

I’ve only played on a sanwa till i ordered the flat seimitsu snap in buttons (ps-14-g)… And i will honestly say i will never use sanwa again. I wont lie it took me about 30 mins to get used to them but when i did… No accidental button presses from resting my fingers on them, no dropped inputs and pushing a button actually felt like pushing a button. Cant recommend enough! + sexy flat’ness ftw!

I have been using primarily PS-14-G buttons for a little while now. I like them a lot now but there was an adjustment period. Mine are currently silenced with Little Kahunas. PS-14-G uses big switches but the plunger design is such that the Big Kahuna makes them feel too squishy. If you ever want to silence the PS-14-G buttons go with Little Kahunas from PAS.

Compared to sanwas they hardly make a sound at all i cant imagine silencing them further… Might have to give it a try

They are the quietest button when silenced in my experience.

Where are the people talking about the HBFS-30-G2 (just saw Darksakul on page 1)? ;(

I’m biased, but nowadays I’m fixated on them. Ordered Cherry MX blue switches today. I currently use Cherry MX red…

I have zero experience with those buttons. I may give them a go one of these days.

I would be interested in them if they didn’t cost a billion $ and weren’t octagonal.

I like them. They feel like a seimitsu ps-14-d + a silent obsf.

I have tried red switches (which is my preffered swtich for mechanical keyboards) as there is no hard engage (its smooth all the way up and down). I have also tried them with the blue switches (the clicky ones that are in almost all mechanical keyboards) i liked the click, but i didnt like the fact that they have the engage in the middle (so you feel it engaging half way up and down)

Basically like this:

Red = softest pressure, silent
Blue = slightly more pressure, clicky, you feel the engage
Brown = silent like red, slightly more pressure, feel the engage like blue
Black = If I remember correctly black is just like red but the stiffest

there are other switches you can buy like white, but i forget what those all do. you can google cherry mechanical switches.

Here is the site I used when I was researching my mechanical keyboard.

http://www.keyboardco.com/blog/index.php/2012/12/an-introduction-to-cherry-mx-mechanical-switches/

I have used red\blue\brown, and i like red the best, for hbsf and for mechanical keyboards.

hope this helps

(you can buy the switches on ebay and put whatever ones you want in your hbsfs, at least you could on 1st gen)

The one thing I wanted to try but never got around to, was removing the silencer (it’s glued in) and using a red switch without the foam pad. it feels like it would like a super seimitsu)

Dat octagon doe…

He should have made the actual plunger octongon. haha

After being able to try out PS-14-G buttons, if I’m understanding correctly, the GX’s were similar to the OBSF-30 RG buttons. I might have to try out those sanwa buttons. The new Seimitsu’s feel too stiff to me. The old ones with the reed based switches are probably what I recall. Medium to soft firmness with a distinct clicky feeling. I didn’t realize Seimitsu buttons could feel so different.

I just threw in a set of PS-14-G’s in my tester stick outfitted with silencers from FocusAttack. I have to say I’m loving the feel. The bottoming out is just a tad spongy which will take some getting used to, but the stiffer response and flatness of the buttons is helping me land plinks more consistently.

@SavingPrincess - I have silenced PS-14-G buttons on my N3. I used Little Kahunas. Quietest buttons I have ever played and I’ve tried every solution out there. They are only slightly spongy and I got used to it fast.

Whelp, finally got my hands on a single pink screw in Sanwa RG button. Hmm, I actually like the switch a lot!!

But will it fit a Seimitsu PS-14-GN-C and PS-14-KN? Yes! No modding necessary! Plus, Seimitsu pink looks a lot nicer than Sanwa pink!

Seriously, remove the G switch, put in the RG. That’s it. Major difference: Plunger now rests higher (which is good actually it allows you to mash faster at least in my case) and it engages a little earlier. If you like sensitive buttons with a little more tension and faster return to neutral, then this mod is easy to do.

Now I want a bunch of RG switches because this is far less complicated than getting Cherry buttons into my Seimitsu. I still might put the work in anyway, because Tech Talk.

People didn’t believe me when i said RG (G1 micros) are awesome.

also reposting this:

got myself a full set of legit Seimitsu PS-14-GXN’s (left).
Oh yeah we in there hard.

I’ve tested it a bit, Its a bit more “clack-ier” than the sanwas, and the plunger rests noticeably higher. but overall not that much different from Sanwa RG’s.

@Darksakul‌ said the same of the JLW, lol. Love the JLW too! Great stick.
