Seimitsu buttons Lets talk

Put a shim between the plunger and opaque switch holder so that it rests flat on top of the switch. The prongs on the plunger keep both pieces from turning so I don’t see what the problem is.

I have a RG switch on back order with some other stuff that i plan to mess around with once I get a chance. I doubt I’ll favor it over my D44x mod.

I think I may be in love with semitsu

Just to make sure, the clear part of the plungers on PS14K and PS14KN are the same right? I know the white tab that pushes down the switch is different. I might do some swaps between them since some of my plungers came scuffed up.

@LLeg3nd : I don’t exactly remember, but if solid color Seimitsus are any indication, there’s slight difference; PS-14-K plungers have extra slots on the side so that the mounting tabs have some clearance to bend inwards when installing, while the plungers to PS-14-KNs don’t (since the screw-ins don’t need the additional clearance). Unfortunately, the only PS-14-Ks I have are all mounted in sticks already, and aren’t convenient to take apart to look at, but I have a few not-installed PS-14-KNs sitting around.

They’re not actually. The PS-14-K has a much deeper slot for the switch to fit into, and the PS-14-KN has a shallower slot. You can’t swap them.

Ohhh, that is so true!!! Sanwas go “click” and Seimitsus go “clack.”

I’d never even thought about it in terms of onomatopoeia before! I feel pleased.

anyone know if obsf-30 rg switches will fit in standard obsf-30 shells /w stock obsf-30 plunger?

More jacked pics from slagcoin…

“Switches of the same types in the chart can be exchanged, so Sanwa and Seimitsu buttons with small switches can be exchanged to make them slightly softer or harder, and slightly change the engage distance; Happ/IL buttons use standard, non-levered microswitches, so any one of those can be inserted; long switches can be used in buttons using large switches, but large switches cannot be used by buttons using long switches.”

That said, it is still possible to do but not with stock plungers. I dont think that the plunger would contact the switch correctly. This link details the mod: http://erwin1.blog64.fc2.com/blog-entry-7.html

again, it doesnt. its a compeltely differnt mold, both rim and plunger.

sure its possible, its tech talk anything is possible. like the link above said, he did that so he can get more colors with the RG switches (RG buttons have less color selection than OBSF). but its up to you if you wanna try it and spend extra money to do so.

@Shottanuhmis nicely done video :slight_smile:

Nope. Different casing. RG switches are considerably larger and won’t fit in the stock obsf casing. Just buy the whole thing.

Right. You have to get your Dr. Frankenstein on to make it work. Not worth the trouble IMO. You can, however, put RG switches in any Seimitsu button that uses “large” switches. If you are just looking for more colors that’s probably the way to go.

only replying to this because this is misleading in a way. again to emphasize, this is not exactly the case.

the actuators for the PS-14-G/GN/KN micros are flat and not square, the RG micros have a square, cubic shape actuator. do the math.

YES. it will fit on the body, but the actuator will not sit in the plunger well. Yes. you can mod them as moonchilde says, there are many ways to do this. but it’s all up to you, if you have the time and effort to find the exact measurements and materials to accomplish this. good luck.

see this button:

(there’s also a PS-14-GNX screw-in equivalent)

note the X, its different from PS-14-G you can buy nowadays.

It’s the Seimitsu buttons that use the RG microswitches, Seimitsu did produce them. but not anymore, not for a long while now. there are some i know here who still have them, but they aren’t gonna be getting rid of them naturally.

Still easier than cutting a larger hole in the OBSF-30 to accept the RG switch AND modding the plunger. I should have been more specific…as usual.

this thread has grown more complex and versatile than I could possibly have imagine lol. Good thing I’m on #TeamSEIMITSU I really like the feel.

Despite my usual dislike for new threads on old subjects, its sometimes good to take the temperature of the community on certain things. Opinions change and new things are discovered. This thread should be valuable to anyone trying to decide which way to go for buttons in the future. That’s that shit I like.

I’ve been considering switching to seimitsu but unsure because I’ll ive ever used are sanwa T_T nervous

Use what you are comfortable with. Don’t get stuff you don’t need, if you are good with Sanwa then stick with it.

The reason I got Seimitsu was because I rest my fingers on the buttons and Sanwas are obviously terrible for that.

@LLeg3nd I do too, but I don’t uusually get mistake inputs… I dont know

Why do you want to get it then?
