Seiei-Videu: Yang Video Thread

though with gief I’m sure he can just buffer reverse GH or EXGH and punish it…IIRC he can do the same with gouki and at the very least be in his face at 0…and just from looks and how everyone’s talking about it, yang’s dash isn’t all that fast…not so sure about EX though. Worst part is though if this works it’ll be an easy counter every time since yang only has one direction he can teleport. since now EXGH doesn’t KD EX TP will be good enough since you won’t be able to do it at all occasions

if gief can safe jump yang’s DP it’ll be double dagerous since you might even be able to OS all possibilities on yang’s wake-up with gief

His jump back fierce beats a LOT of your offensive options. He can zone you really really well, which is the main problem. Yang definitely has options in footsies, but he gets zoned like Cammy. As a poke I was doing the MP HP back+HP target combo, which was working really well since it broke armor.

EX Dash is pretty fast but doesn’t go too far. If gief is jumping in on you I would think you would be out of range though.

Good thing we use Chun so we can counter pick against Gief anyway hehe. Tbh I think Chun is a decent counter to Boxer too if your reactions are good.

Yeah I’ve been brainstorming and Chun would cover Yang’s bad matchups really well.

I’ve been trying to learn her recently, but she’s weird, haha.

Makato would be another problem for yang as well… her st. mp stuffs allot of yangs shyyt… especially dive kick game…

i suppose you could fake her out with a lk dive kick then low forward into rekkas if your close enough to counter footise her anti air

for those who havent seen it

yeah not only that she does best the twins. i played rahsaan’s yang and was able to win because she can stuff the dive kicks with either neutral forward or ex sbk but i need to get the timing for ex sbk. yeah but mostly ive been using yang at cf. he’s fun and he’s cheap. so far i think he loses to geif, balrog, bison and sagat. he makes rufus and sim look free though.

has anyone noticed in the nemo vs hiropon match yangs palm strike takes out seth’s grey life on block! has this new ability been mentioned before?

Actually the Yang playing against Tokido is Mago. Pretty great matches all around though. I think these provide the best examples so far of how Yang is supposed to be played: Lots of meter-building, frame traps, well-placed dive kicks and good footsies when necessary. That last one against Itabashi was a serious nail-biter.

Chip Damage??

From what I’ve seen from Nemo’s matches:

-EX rekkas are pretty much useless
-Meter should be saved for rolling kick fadc or rekkas fadc
-Main bnb is c.lpxn, c.mk, rekkas/rolling kick. Rekkas carries them to corner while rolling kick leaves you with better okizeme
-Yang after rekkas fadc mixes up into c.lk into bnb or command throw. He can even raw U1.
-Cross up j.mk is very good

Notes from Gods Garden x 4Gamer Interview:
-You can focus rolling kicks and cross up with j.mk
-Sei Enbu continues stun so if you reset the opponent during it, it’ll be really easy to stun the opponent
-Teleport has more recovery than Abel’s roll. No real use for it
-Yang can’t cross up well with dive kicks as well as Yun.

even if it was a lot of chip damage, that shouldn’t matter. grey health is not affected by block damage. when yang does the palm strike it took out all of seth’s grey health not “chip” his grey damage.

i think they had it the other way around… yang crosses up better than yun.

the other thing i got from it was that yuns divekicks are better overall than yangs. they eluded to this in 2 ways:

i think they were thinking that yuns divekicks had more hit/blockstun

i think they also eluded to yuns divekicks having more priority than yangs via a better overall hitbox, ie yuns hit box is lower on divekicks than yangs…

^^^ they didnt out and out say these things, it just seems to be what was “in between the lines” so to speak…i could be wrong.

also they seemed to elude to yang wasnt very good by the statement that all yang had going for him was a better looking u1 and good mixups off of fadc rekkas… but iirc they snickered or something when they said the latter as if to suggest that using 2 meters “just for a mixup” was in itself weak… which im actually inclined to agree. but nemo was doing good with the mixup so… it cant be that bad when he makes so much meter and already has an invincible reversal that requires no meter.

i could be wrong on most of that, it just seemed that certain things weren’t being stated that WERE being eluded to.

also the translation made a mistake somewhere in there and had yuns name twice instead of yangs name and then yun.

Try focusing a couple fireballs then blocking a few, you’ll notice that the grey health you can gain back is less, since it counts as chip damage. Plus Seth has the lowest stamina in the game = a lot of fucking chip dmg.

Sorry about that when i first link they had it under Nemo ^^;

Like Yang’s win quote says “Stop watching match videos.” Stop using teleport like Abel’s roll in the first place. It’s an escape option, a reset mixup, and a very good method of closing distance after knockdowns. You don’t want to use it to get TOO close, though, Yang doesn’t like being in throw range unless he’s command throwing. LK Teleport feels as fast as Abel’s LK roll - you can mash them out one after another pretty freaking quickly.

i looked at the video again and can see that the palm strike takes a tremendous amount of chip damage for a 1 hit moved?

I plan on getting some yang footage so stay tuned
