Oh that beautiful launcher set-up after Sei’ei Enbu at 15:50 in the second video.
Holy shit did he just do 528 damage with Ultra 2 after the loops? I guess that ultra has even more uses. Edit: 550?!?!

Too bad palm loops are so impractical not just because of execution difficulty, but spacing/character specific issues also. It’s reassuring to see Uryo’s tested a few things I have as well on my Yang development. Of course he has to take it to the next level with all those launcher combos.
So are the palm loops character specific or do they work on everybody?
If not specific, definetly easier or harder on some characters.
Dunno, something i’ve written off as “impractical” because i’m a lazy non top player.
dunno if you guys saw but kazunoko and mago have been testing yang out more lately on their streams
whats funny is seeing mago testing the same stuff ive been testing. lets me know im kinda on the right track
They are difficult to use and then his meter is better spent other places. But if I really feel it’s a match up where I need that damage and pressure, then I’ll save it. I never go for resets in Sei Enbu though, people mash dp and catch my backdash all the time.
I hear ya. I like to block for a few frames after a reset if I’m against a DP character, and even then I rarely use super against them. Doing a combo in super and resetting with HP palm is probably Yang’s best reset because you can whiff an attack for the shadow hit to force the player at least into block stun, and prevent them from jumping. Resets are also good if you know the other player is close to getting dizzied. Also rare to achieve this without meter.
Kazunoko stealing my color
nemo’s color
i usually play yellow. but im thinking of switching to purple
Nemo uses the red alt 1.
I like the orange alt 2 also lol
I like 666’s white track suit Yang.
Nearly 1 hour of color stealing kazunoko, making me some coffee.
was just about to post this.
watching him and uryo, i think i need to use more close mp after dive kick. i usually stick to jabs or low shorts exclusively and only use close mp after normal jump ins or in frame traps
i also notice kazunoko likes to use ex rekka like its a shorter version of yuns ex lunge. he just does it raw a lot to get in
What blows my mind is that even though I’m doing plinked cr.lk i get reversal’d more often than I’d like.
A perfect divekick is at best +6. That means I have some of leniency on my divekick spacing or that I have 4 fucking frames for an air tight cr.lk and I still fuck up.
Incorporating cl.mp will get me reversal’d or thrown to death. Maybe it’s just his Yun mastering paying off, sigh.
well i agree, but you can eliminate some of the guess work. theres a few situations where you know youre going to get that best case dive kick. usually when you have a stationary target
most common if you use it to re apply pressure like after a blocked lp rekka or palm, or if youre feeling ballsy after a mid screen knock down
Ive been using raw ex rekkas also as a method of getting in, imo it is very gimmicky and cannot be abused as you will just get nj’d. At this point of time not many people understand the move so it almost surprises them. I like to do clk xx lp rekka after to feel the opponents response and go from there.
The reason I have been using this move more is that I have grown to dislike divekicking with yang. It just puts myself in more of the opponents mixup. As otori said, even with what feels like a crisp dk, the opponent will dp, or throw if attempting to block the dp. Its a mix up i dont want to put myself in.

I’d never risk using it as a get in option, but more of a pseudo punish/long distance punish. A lot of players will throw something out that is “safe,” but only because of push back, etc… Ex Rekka is my answer to a lot of that.
Also, lost to CJ again in tournament… last game but he hit me with the tenshin and I died
ex rekka has a total frame count of 25
for comparison fei longs lp rekka has a frame count of 29, and yangs crouching mk has a total frame count of 21
if you get neutral jumped and dont have time to react with a dp, it means you rekka’ed while they were in the air
I personally love EX-Slashes, it can whiff punish people like regular slashes can, but entails much less risk in case you make a poor read/reaction. On block the -1 is nothing at all since it’s so fast you’re not going to get 0 frame grabbed by anybody, if they don’t have such a speedy move in their mind they’re at worst going to be trying some late crouch techs, I’ve never had anybody try a DP after blocked EX-Slash.
Of course Yang needs meter to use in other aspects of his game, but I think you need to use all of Yang’s tools to keep the opponent on edge and throw them off from what’s expected, even if it means occasionally being just short of the meter for an FADC combo.
I realized I never ever use EX slashes or EX command grab. Like, ever.
