Good to know Yang still beats at least Dhalsim lol.
And damn, I thought launcher, dive kick, launcher wasn’t possible anymore due to the 2 extra frames of recovery so I just completely stopped doing that.
Yea, it’s still possible. But it feels a little harder now. Offline, I can do it consistently but online, I drop the combo a lot.
Not the place to ask I know, but I noticed how a lot of the matches are on xbox. I wanted to know the reason for that, is online play better on the xbox? I just started playing Yang and eventually of course I will be playing online, and I wanted to know which would be better to play online on: xbox360 or the playstation 3? I don’t want to start any debates over which is better, I just want a straightforward answer. Thank you
The Xbox live network is better, but PC is considered the strongest in terms of online play.
Are yang’s unblockable set ups still possible in 2012?
I suspect it depends upon the setup. AFAIK there was never a compilation of unblockable setups for Yang in English, so I don’t even have something I could readily test. I’m going to put something like that up on the forum and see whether we can get an answer; I’m fairly curious as well.
Alioune schooled me to a bunch of them. I still have them written down. I can post them up. I bet a lot of them still work, since most used Dive Kick, and not j. MK. Dive Kick still has the same hitbox, IIRC, so they should still work.
EDIT- Here’s some:
Against Claw/DJ- Forward throw, dash-> j. MK
Akuma/Ibuki/Cody- (corner) Forward throw, dash, wait -> j. MK
Seth- (corner) Forward throw, dash, Max Height LK Dive
Guile- HP Mantis-> dash-> early HK Dive
Claw/Fei/Abel- standard Dive Unblockables that I think most people know.
Forward Throw-> Dash-> early MK Dive
and, combo to sweep, walk-up -> early MK Dive
I have no clue if these still work. I’ve played 2012 like twice. On that KOF train right now. Have at it.
Alright. Cool. I always wondered, how do people discover these unblockables?
Educated guesses and a long time in training mode. Some characters are well know for having weird hitboxes, prone to unblockables, and you just need to find a normal with an abusable hitbox (usually a large horizontal hitbox). Then it’s a matter of going in training mode and messing with timings after hard knockdowns.
For some reason in this game everyone can have an unblockable on them, and according to akuma players, I think it’s LoyalSol, this changed from vanilla to super.
Could you elaborate on how the mantis unblockable on Guile works? It seems like it must be a corner thing but even then with the lack of an untechable knockdown I’m not sure exactly how it’s supposed to function.
