This series is kinda like the Young and Dangerous movie series. Sometimes, the story was uuuhh… alright and ended up more comedic than anything; but the setting and characters are top notch in their own way.

Y1 is Y1, and i guess my biggest problem with it atm is that its nothing compared to Y0, Y0 is better in literally all regards.
Plus Dragon style being trash and the whole new theme of the game being Kiryu isnt shit just reminds me all the time about that cutscene I just directed too, that Kiryu at the end of Y0 was the Apex of his entire existence, and that we got to be conscious that its just a massive decline in his ability from this point on.

This video will essentially prove just how bad I am at this game and I want to get better. I was trying to mess around with what I have unlocked with the Dragon of Dojima style specifically to see how far I can go. The issue with the Dragon of Dojima style is that it is extremely powerful but only towards the late game where you’ve already unlocked everything else. The fights against Majima could have been a lot better, which is a dangerous understatement. I periodically tried to dizzy him with back+X heavy because that works consistently against most enemies, even if they don’t stun that easily. I also need to stop simply taking so much damage.
As for the story of Yakuza Kiwami (based on the original Yakuza game)… It’s nothing to write home about at all. In fact, there were more than a few plot inconsistencies and some fuck ups but the likable characters and tone management, as well as the general subquests and game play more than make up for it. This is essentially what the majority of the fanbase are stating about the story. I also like Nishiki a tad more a villain.
Now… for Yakuza Kiwami 2, I can’t wait to see Ryuji Goda in action.

I’m very close to getting platinum in Kiwami.
Basically scratch everything I said about this game not requiring you to give up on life in order to platinum it.
It’s slightly less bad than Yakuza 0 in some regards, but then you got shit like Otometal My Life you got to get 950 points in.
So far I’m only missing the coliseum grind in order to get the last weapons and gear items, Mahjong and beating the game on legend difficulty and I’m 67 hours in.
When I’ve learned mahjong and beat that shit, I’ll go back to Yakuza 0 and try to platinum that damn game, too. Might be an even worse grind, but the game itself is a good chunk more fun.
