Got it. Must be a bad appearance rate since he has so many forms then. Or just unlucky.
Only been seeing him as Cop, Bat user, regular fighting style, couple jump up from crouching from behind the corner in alleys, then breaker Michael Jackson moves out of the sewers! He stopped me from offscreen at the door of beef bowl for Haruka, dickhead now with his 4-5 healthbars Final Fight game color style.
So I did a breaker that wasn’t in his idol outfit. And there wasn’t one when checking the Karaoke out. Figured he would be there to bother you while wearing that stuff since that’s where it originally came from, karaoke clips where he’s in that changed outfit.
After Hannya-Man fight for an unlock, he’s immediately chillin right in West Park by the exit taking baseball bat swings. Arena Luchador Hawk has Akiyama’s fighting style. Dang, I miss that one now.
Listening to the Kiwami OST, and I have to say that the second to last boss theme is one of the best tracks on the OST. Too bad the boss fight itself is hot garbage, probably one of the worst, if not the worst, in the entire game.
Also important to not use the item that prevents random encounters (beads of something) and you can’t be in heat mode, otherwise Majima does not spawn.
I got Kiryu’s stats all the way to max just now but I still need to unlock the rest of the goodies that the Dragon of Dojima style has to offer. Majima relation is on S rank. As it stands right now, the bosses in this game (at least on Hard difficulty) do not understand what “hit stun” or “knockdown” means. Can’t over commit to heavy finishers unless the enemies are whiffing something or if you are behind them.
Way to cheese out every boss in the game is to learn Komaki’s tiger parry, which you get in chapter 11 after grinding the coliseum for all the pictures. Then against slow attacking opponents you just react to the startup and against fast attacking dudes, you keep your distance and make them whiff the first attack to parry the second.
That moves makes every 1v1 a cakewalk.
Strangely, I don’t think Kiryu had Komaki Parry in 0 (it may have been replaced with some other Heat Action at the time).
Messed around against “Everyone’s Idol Goro”, which could have done better if I used certain heat actions more frequently (specifically from wall with Brawler and Sumo Slap from Dragon of Dojima-style)
I don’t recommend using Tiger Drop if you want the game to be challenging in any sense. It does so much damage that it trivializes everything. Komaki Parry is cool tho.
What’s he talking about in terms of follow up to that parry though? He says some shit about it having more potential than the tiger drop or something. Anything to it or is it just hot air?
I also wouldn’t know how to deal with breaker Majima later if not for tiger drop. He dodges almost everything and when you sneak a hit in he armors through the follow up.
Komaki Parry follow up? That’s something I have to figure out. There is supposedly stuff Kiryu can do after the landing it.
Without Tiger Drop, the fight would have been a tad more difficult, though Rush works pretty against him. Running triangle from Dragon of Dojima-style or Rush during some of Majima’s strings also tend work (for the former style, Kiryu is given enough space to move away from Majima before he starts attacking again).
I dunno if Komaki Parry has any hidden functions, but the stun is pretty good since you’ll be in heat mode a lot in Dragon style, meaning you can follow up with the heat attack that works on stunned targets.
Nope, he doesn’t have Komaki Parry nor Tiger Drop. There are some moves that replaces them though.
You can use the Dragon Style Kiwami finisher after Parry, if the enemy can be stunned. Or it’s a reference to Yakuza 3, where Kiryu does learns a follow up.
Btw. I watched a lot of David Lynch stuff lately in preparation for Twin Peaks and I noticed that Goro Majima is actually based off Nicholas Cage and his outfit in the movie “Wild at Heart”.
Dunno if that is common knowledge but heck this could be a Majima quote:
The story sucks ass to be honest.
It starts out alright and gets worse and worse throughout the game with the apex of bad being the actual ending.
At least the Nishikin flashbacks are very good and there’s also some good moments in the actual story.
It’s entertaining enough though, and I had (still have) a lot of fun with the game.
The combat is a little step up from 0 albeit not by much since I basically just love Dragon of Dojima style not sucking once it’s leveled enough.
The sub stories are hella trash though aside from 3 or 4 funny ones.
Mini-games are great, because thanks to the cheat items you don’t have to waste your life in order to get 100% completion rate.
Majima everywhere totally makes up for the shitty sub stories and mediocre main story though. That shit is hilarious and so much better than the lame Mr.Shakedown shit from Y0.
Overall I’m very happy with the game. I got to play the first game in a series that totally evaded my attention for the past 11 years and grew to be one of my favorite franchises during the course of a single game, for just 30 bucks.
The game basically is an expansion for Yakuza 0, and as such it does a great job. Not the best game of all times, but good enough for me.
Only bummer for me is that we probably have to wait 1 or 2 years until we can play Kiwami 2 and so my only alternative to get my Yakuza fix until Y6 comes out, is playing Y3-5+Dead Souls and get spoiled about Y2 in the process.
Seriously the worst thing about Yakuza is Sega’s Western release schedule and the fact that fun looking spin offs don’t even get released in the west.
