SEGA's Yakuza series thread. Is Haruka gonna have to Komaki Parry a street punk?

Keep flying off the track after the S curve sections even lap 1 because my racer is too advanced for a 25 cost race…

Rubber/Metal frame &
3 cost stabilizer didn’t even help
I have a 4 stabilizer already too but need weaker engines or something.
Maybe don’t use the 2nd car you get? Everyone else in the race usually runs that one next to you tho.

DVD shop new title was a Majima fight, that didn’t unlock anything, kinda weird to do all that, just for the jokes.

I just finished the main campaign for Kiwami .

It took me 20 hrs (I accidentally did some substories (7). I usually leave them for “Premium adventure” mode.

Pros: Fighting, music, Majima everywhere gimmick, Funny substories, the ending

Cons: No playable Majima, only 1 town,
The main story drags around Chapter 5/6. Do we really need to worry about Date’s daughter and the Florists son? Seems like it could be substory material.

I guess Y0 did its job too well, bc I really loved Majima in that game in terms of story and fighting styles.
Since this is a remake of a 12yr old game , I cant fault Kiwami for this but the game feels smaller all around.

Overall: 8/10. Still a very fun game though.

Game also costs half the price of Y0, so I guess it’s fine. I haven’t played the story far yet (I’m in chapter 4), because I went straight into CP grinding.
Does anyone know what the prizes for split games at the bowling alley are? I can only do 5 frames, and I wonder if going for 7 frames is worth it in terms of the prize I’d get.
Also thank god that the batting course is piss easy this time around.

Also to people having trouble with pocket car racing try this here:

Edit: Ok, got 7 frames. You get Ultra Soft Tires for your troubles.

I like that the upgrade system is more traditional like the older games. I like being able to get experience from random battles and side-stories instead of having to literally grind money out the ass to unlock skills. I didn’t enjoy that part at all, and what was worse you typically had to do things that weren’t fun at all to make the most money, like the stupid hostess club crap with Majima. I did it once or twice then never touched it again.

I love that Kiryu has all of his styles from 0. I’m hoping that he has all of his styles in the Y2 remake too.

Some random things:

Does anyone feel the everyday thugs are maybe 15-20 percent harder/less stupid than Y0?
It seems more difficult to do grab moves on them.

Nishiki 's sister Yuko and the doctor subplot - Was that in the regular Yakuza 1 game?
Also, I wished they had touched on it a bit more.

For me the Hardest bosses were
The dual wielding red coat guy on the rooftop
Jingu’s 2 Swat guys

I’m probably not even done with 1/3 of the main story. Just doing sidequests. Got all Komaki tech.

I sexually identify as a Tiger drop.

The flashback scenes of Nishiki were added in to flesh out his villain role more in Kiwami. Makes perfect sense considering how much of a bro he was in Yakuza 0; it would make for bad development for him to heel turn without much of an explanation. Apparently in the original game, you don’t find out any of his motivations until the very end, so he just seems like a completely unlikable asshole for no reason the entire game. Really glad they fleshed out his character more in this game.

I’m on chapter 11 right now. I should finish the game by sometime tomorrow. Majima Everywhere rank is SS but I still have a lot of the Dragon skill tree left to complete. Arena grinding is pretty zzz so I don’t think I’ll unlock everything by the time I finish the game. Even with a bit over half the Dragon skill tree complete, it still feels quite weak compared to using the other styles. Every other skill tree has been maxed out too, so my only growth now will be Dragon style via Komaki training/arena grinding and Majima Everywhere. At least fighting Majima has come very natural to me now, especially with everything else maxed out. I prefer fighting him in Rush style to dodge and hit him in the back to build meter, and then use that meter in various heat attacks for maximum damage. At this point, however, I’m not even sure how I’m supposed to land any type of grab moves on him, limiting some heat action options. Anyone know what the conditions are to allow you to successfully grab and attack bosses?

Komaki still holding out on me, waiting to drop this snake picture but hes been preparing for like 10 chapters or some bullshit.

Status of the game :
Mode Normal completed
Mode Legend completed
Komaki training completed
All abilities tree completed
Climax Battles completed
All subquests cleared
Beaten Amon in Normal and Legend.

If you need advices …

Last coliseum fight difficult AF

How do you mahjong?

Okay, I’ve got a PS4 now. In what order should I be playing the PS4 Yakuza games? The appearance of Yakuza 0 has completely thrown me.

Numérical order. 0 is the earliest game in the timeline.
0, Kiwami, 2,3,4,5,6.

Start with 0, it’s the better game anyway.

That’s the only thing I didn’t do lol. That and Shogi.

Theres a youtube video on how to handle Shogi rather easily but Mahjong you need the Luck Gods favour as the RNG for it is a piece of cheating shit.

My thoughts so far:

It is advisable to be a bit careful around boss characters; because depending on the difficulty, a lot of characters (especially Majima or Baba for example, the latter whom seems to favor the use of moves that are related to the “Beast” style) do not flinch after getting hit, making you susceptible to their attacks instead.

I also enjoy the flash back sequences involving Nishiki, making him a far more reasonable villain, since the player can now see where he is coming from. Because a lot of his conditions were only implied throughout the original game. Yakuza 0 actually helped Nishiki’s case by a bunch.

Leveling up Kiryu is actually fun in this game since there are a lot of ways you can do this easily. I am in the process of getting unlocking his Dragon of Dojima stuff and messing with Komaki and the Arena.

Some people may already be aware of this, but it is possible to defeat Majima when you first fight him (the dialogue between Kiryu and Majima after the fight will even change, but it will still heavily imply that Kiryu is… nerfed the fuck up right at that point because of his prison sentence and that wicked time skip). You can get buff earlier on this way. Just… try to avoid getting hit, please…

There will be more to follow up with later. Still playing through the game as we speak.

Yeah that one is out of place since you’re helping that guy already, then doing deathmatches with Gary Buster Douglas to prove yourself and pay his exorbitant fee.

Then you get that kid’s homeboy gangsta goon a sandwich like a punk!

At least the more in depth and relevant ones get the good cutscene treatment, like Dojima’s wife. In English its a lot funnier when the stripper girlfriend gives you her card and he’s like ‘what the hell are you giving him that for? Nobody wants that shit knock it off!’

Than just, u big "baka"
Same for taking out how “You gonna squeal like a bitch, motherfucker!” from Gary, voiced line too, forgot about that until playing thru again and seeing that part, and screencapping it.

But cool how that guy like Shinji in Y0 now knows about
"Damn, the whole Tojo clan is after you? I can only hope to be that strong someday."

And of course before that, by going to the strip club you wouldn’t expect it to have major ties in the end

Spoiler

Random crowd guy takes shotgun to the face now in HD

from RAzor/Mayo Police

Damn!

Funny connection again on Date talking to Kiryu, a back and forth on future jobs. No way I’ll be doing that, for the players who’ve followed thru and know those things. Same as when the fortune teller predicted Kiryu’s life in Y.ZER0.

Just started Kiwami last night.

How much did they change from the original?

Spoiler

Don’t remember Kiryu going ring shopping or Majima trying to entice him into a fight right at the beggining

Any good spots to see Idol Majima? Only saw him the initial Debolah dance time, never since.

Just buying a bento from the store here, all the way in Premium Adventure getting a Majima appearance fight out of it.

Manhole/Trunk of cars/Giant orange cones in front of Burger smile that don’t make noise or move like the other 2 can net you an item for free if he’s not there.

If you need to get a certain Majima to spawn you can just enter a building and come back out to respawn Majima. The type of roaming Majima you get is random.
