As a formerly frequent sparring partner of you both, Duke, your zoning is land based and vulnerable to charges. Nearly all zoning that is done at a top level(like at Evo) is air based, something which Hulk has a much harder time dealing with. Itās also important to note that your zoners have to make guesses and choices, rather than just letting the projectiles do the work. Task Arrows, Dorm pillars, Deadpool guns, all are guesswork due to the size they take up and the startup or whatever. So at a competitive level, the armor Hulk has often becomes pointless vs dedicated zoners, leaving him just a slower Wolverine with slow startup assists that donāt deal with the air well.
So Iāve showcased the Sentinel drones assist combo assist for Nemesis in my previous combo videos, but what I have now is a more optimized version of it for corner to corner situations. The difference is that after you land from shooting the rocket in the air to send the opponent into the drones, you do Clothesline Rocket H(QCF H) as soon as you land. The clothesline portion moves Nemesis forward and puts you in a better position to follow up after the rocket portion hits since the opponent is at good height in the air after the rocket connects and causes the soft knockdown. Shout out to motion51 on the Nemesis SRK forums for the original concept of Nemesis + drones combo extensions.
Regarding that match against RyRy in Round 2, I really like what was in your head starting Nemesis and trying to Snipe his doom assist with X-Factor. You ended up with a ground rocket instead of TK Rocket to keep it going though but I think it could have worked out.
Lol! Yeah that sucked. I like starting Nemesis against opponents that I feel are gonna take to the skies more often since Nem has better air normals than Hulk. Plus I change Hulkās assist to AA Gamma Charge to give Nem an easier time when Im in the opponents face or they are rushing me down. You can jump up after then to convert to a full (though heavily scaledā¦) combo.
You mean convert to a full unscaled reset, right? Lol, sorry for the long delayed response. I gave up Nemesis for a while and am back on the wagon after Ghost Rider failed me yet again.
Well I meant if Hulks AA Gamma Charge assist hits you can super jump and hit them with jS to follow up for a combo. But the Hulk assist heavily scales the combo.
Its been awhile but got a few more tourney matches recorded. This time in high quality in thanks to another player who brought one of those fancy Avermedia portable recorders. Anywhoā¦
The 1st winners match starts off with me winning the first match, so it starts off 1-0 me

If anyone can help me with dealing with Spiderman, Id LOVE to hear it!!! Anyways, enjoy.
I said Iād have a ton of comment on this, and here they are.
Hulk vs. Spidey, Iāve got no clue, but Iām still using Nem/Dorm/Strange as my offline team until the new guys get up to par, and I spar offline with a Spidey a lot, (the one you and I lobbied with yesterday), and how Iāve been dealing with him as Nemesis is to be a lot more defensive, and sometimes jumping forward DR to hit him out of the air, with assists covering the ground (Works pretty well with bolts, but for you gamma wave may work, a bit low on range, but what can an aerial spidey do against those two attacks?).
Another thing about Spidey is his pressure is solid, but short-range, so sometimes you can advancing guard and throw a raw launcher out. Other than that, dash and block to close space, and get into that j.M splash zone, and then he canāt do all his stupid stuff in the air without fear of a bonk on the head.
st.H and Anti-air throw I find doesnāt work for me. All of this is way easier online than off, I honestly think lag is in Spideyās favor vs. Nemesis, so see if you can get a set in with that Spidey offline and test this out. I donāt claim this all to work, because Iām currently getting the matchup down myself (it also changes depending on Spideyās assist), but thatās what Iām finding to work. You get anything new, or find any of this not to work, share back with me. We can get a big-olā brainstorm goinā.
Also, non-Spiderman comments:
-at 13 minutes in, that made me sad. You had him! Once with a st.L after the backthrow instead of super, once by going drones instead of plasma then using the third meter for the kill. Unfortunate, but otherwise pretty smooth play.
-Nem vs. Modok is even more tentacles than usual. Modok is a big character (in that he cannot crouch much) and cannot really do much when youāre close enough to launcher or j.M, but 3/4ths of the screen away to fullscreen Modok can try to get started. For the most part you played that right, but for example 12:33, after he pushblocked, just straight up slap his face with some wiggly zombieflesh, plus drones, wouldāve protected you from whatever. Consdering drones takes a sec to get started, and the durability and speed on psionic blaster, against ground modok faraway ground tentacles or cautious approach is your best option, once heās in the air or closer to you, you get a few more options. Also, running into the bomb at 12:35 confused me.
You said you didnāt like how you did, I have to disagree, your play is really really clean, especially the times when you just steamroll over people, thatās so fun to watch when Iām not on the receiving end of it. The only time Iāve seen a match fall out of your favor really quickly was, against Spidey and Vergil this happened, they went nuts and yoloāed right before you got drones out and got a birthday, itās always when theyāre at jump height about halfscreen. Not too many people get full conversions from that distance, but some can, so watch out. Regardless, great stuff as usual.
Just got back from Absolute Battle 2013 this past weekend. Almost made it into top 16 but just couldnāt get that last win. But I found my matches in the archives for your viewing pleasure.
Havenāt rewatched it yet for more specific commentary, but I remember when watching the stream a lot of times I was upset on moments where I am pretty sure you couldāve standing Hāed Haggar.
When I have time I will give something a bit more informed.
Also, the stream chat was all very, very hype for āTeam Testosteroneā, myself included.
I had the opportunity to participate in the Curleh Mustache Battle Royale at NEC14 recently. I bookmarked my performance for your viewing pleasure. But do stick around to watch the end. It gets pretty hype! My turn starts at 15m 17s
I saw this on facebook and made a smart-ass comment, but for serious, I donāt really think thereās much to say. You did well, messed up defending Zero in a few instances, and Zero plus Vergil comebacks are sad facts of life.
Iād still say put Nemesis in front against Zero, I like that call. J.M can hit him zipping around. I saw him adjust and use a lot of forward lightning, which was smart-ish, you definitely can smack that with st.S, and I saw you react with one (quick thinking, by the way) but the st.S was a bit too late and you got hit.
