Seeing S.T.A.R.S: The Nemesis Video Thread

Got some tech for y’all. Managed to discover a guard break set up into Nemesis’ LVL 3. It looks like this will most likely only work on characters with no air dash, double jumps, or invincible air supers. Basic summary is you kill/snap a character, do Gamma Quake, wait for them to land, and then DHC into LVL 3. The video shows Wesker blocking but still getting caught! Though the timing has to be spot on, or in my team’s case, before the first rock of Gamma Quake breaks.

Crazy huh?! Good thing is that if someone is mashing buttons to tag Hulk or Nem, the rocks will hit them. If a characters’ air super isn’t invincible such as Weskers, they will get tagged by the incoming rocks. If you mess up the timing, Gamma Quake will keep Nem safe. Only way to get of of this that I’ve figured out is to be holding up back.

And it’d be so much more useful if it didn’t always feel like a colossal wast of meter to use Nemesis LVL3. Why Capcom why?

Just got through watching a video by residentevilrulz on Youtube, and his video showcases a whole bunch of pretty neat Nem combos!

Oh, that is positively sexy. Good find, sir, I’m surprised how I missed this, I was subbed to the guy since a while back.

Bout time someone made note of that weird wallbounce glitch thing I found a while ago.

Yes, that was sexy. On that note, you are talking about that thing when Haggar piped Nemesis when he st. H right? Care to explain?

It’s really quite simple. DP+H(Not st. H as you thought) is a wallbounce move that hits behind Nemesis, so if the opponent crosses up Nemesis and Nemesis is using the move, they will try to be wallbounced, but cannot because Nemesis is now blocking them(they being sent in the direction Nemesis is facing), so they and Nemesis fly far across the screen until the hard knockdown part of the move occurs.

So I recently got 1st place in a local tournament. I recorded all if my matches from beginning to grand finals. Im hoping to get some feedback since Im going to be going to EVO and could use any advice y’all have to offer. I also hope it can help y’all out. Anyways, here it is.

good fucking shit jdog!

they werent ready for team big boy!!!

not a whole lot to comment on i think you played magnificently, a lot of players did drop combos when they managed to hit you though.

haha mind games!!!

Thanks Motion! Although going back and watching the footage, I noticed that I respect Wolverines way too much and try to keep my distance. He’s Wolverine! He’s fast! He’s gonna find his way in especially against my team. Just gotta have the grapes to push back! Lol. :stuck_out_tongue:

Things I noted:

Around 14:50, I found Nemmy’s slow walk with drones into air throw terrifying. A styling CG-loop at 17:45 that I am going to steal; and a lot of your opponents were afraid of the Hulk, choosing instead to stay out of range of his H. Those with the more aggressive rushdown tended to get you in tricky situations, but you completely dominate the matches where they tried to stay passive. There weren’t that many teams that were mainly keepaway, so I can’t give an accurate statement about that.

In comparison to your Hulk, your Sentinel isn’t as strong; the few times when Sentinel is by himself, you either lose or manage to beat the opponent with a lucky strike. Nemesis… is IMO stronger than your Sent, but weaker than your Hulk by a little - can’t explain why though, maybe it’s because you don’t dominate the match with Nemesis as well as Hulk?

Yeah I feel you on my Sent. I should play more point Sent because he’s anchor and I don’t get as much playtime as the other 2. Thanks for your feedback!

So I just got back from EVO recently. Didn’t do terribly bad for my first try, I ended up placing top 32! With the help of my girlfriend, I was able to to get all of my matches recorded so that I may share them with you all. Feel free to leave some feedback.

Do you want a general feedback? Or play-by-play?

Well, I’ll call them as I see them.

Oh, and I’ll apologize for how I might seem in the following words; I might come off like a prick, pretentious and/or too arrogant considering my skill level…

First opponent: pretty solid all 'round.
Second: First match was pretty solid, though in the second you were a little too hungry when your Hulk was offed. You kept getting bopped into the next few matches because of that too. I thought Blue was supposed to be a calming color.
Third Opponent: First match was similar to the final few matches of the prior opponent. Second match: Zero pressure is too strong, and your opponent clearly recognized what to do against Sentinel. Third match: you were getting a little desperate here I think - random Hulk super, Nemesis getting a raw launch into his basic air series (MHS) on Morrigan - you could’ve extended that with a relaunch, I think, and/or went into CG reset with j2H land M/H CG. But whatever works.
Fourth Opponent: First: good idea with keeping away from X-23’s level 3 with the air hyper. Second: Solid. Standing H too strong. Third: Don’t think Standing H followed by S on a jumping opponent a true blockstring - regardless of how many people fall for that. Rest of the matches were pretty much yours - you could make a combo vid out of them.
Fifth: First matches were… okay. However, what I’d liked was you recognizing the problem (Wesker) - and then taking care of him with X-factor. And then… apparently Spencer Bionic Arm’ed Hulk and Sentinel together, and then he X-factored - but since Hulk was already armored with down H, he wasn’t sent flying… allowing you to kill him. Next match: good tick (I think that’s what’s called) CG setup on X-factored Strange.
Sixth: First: Sluggerfest. Second: Only thing better than standing H is Standing H plus Lariat.

Quick question. Sometimes you do snap-back rather than another hyper; is this a input mistake? Or were you trying to go for something fancy like that?

Sixth continued: Dat ridiculous hitbox on Nemesis’s DP hyper. =D The rest of the matches were good.
Seventh: Good job on capitalizing on your opponent’s mistake on failing to kill Nemesis. The rest of the matches looked solid.
Eighth: X-factored to kill Doom with a TK rocket loop - smart. I think. Kara-cancelling into L.CG Vergil just as he Xf- C’est Magnifique!

Against NEO: A rawtag into Nemesis was a risky gamble - though it paid off after Neo failed to complete the infinite. Failing starfish so good! Though you had plenty of chances with Sent. to finish off his Magnus, you failed to capitalize on that. Second match: switching to Nemesis first paid big time, as you managed to… I think it was SJ MHS Magneto from the top of the screen and off him. But Footdive saves Doom. :frowning: And then Dark Phoenix Rises… defeated you before I could steal see your Anti-Phoenix tech.

Overall, I think you played pretty solidly. Few hiccups like dropped combos here and there, but good all around. Though I noticed you had trouble with Zero teams initially - their keepaway and pressure of course - and often, you took Zero down only after they dropped their combo. Your defense was amazing as well.

Again, I noted that Hulk is obviously your strongest character - the team was based around him, I think. However, your Nemesis was good as well and your Sentinel was better than before.

All in all: Great showing!!

And as thanks for actually recording your trials:

Epi, to answer your snap question, are you refering to the Sent Hard Drive loops? If so, yeah that was a drop. But snap can be a pretty good wake up option of your oppinent isn’t expecting it. But in that case, it was a drop. Lol.

Jesus christ, you top 32 at EVO and you’re calling it “not terribly bad???” lol, good shit man!

well from i can gather about jdog from the forums hes…humbly modest!

that unassuming demeanor will mask his skill and he will mind game everyone at the character select screen, unconsciously making them respect him from the get go!

me on the other hand wouldve never made it one round haha!

To be fair, Jdog rides his armor a lot, so he’s very character based. Hulk is about 90% of that team just because he does an amazing job of making absolutely everything kill. Being a good Hulk player is almost as good as being a good Wolverine player really, since both just straight up maul your face. Difference being Hulk’s not as fast and therefore when he is shut out, he’s shut out far too hard for either of Jdog’s two assists to bail him out of.

Oh wow! Thanks Epi for the drawing!

As one of his frequent sparring buddies, and a zoner by nature, I’d say it’s pretty hard to keep JDog’s Hulk completely out. Gamma Tsunami and Gamma Wave keep hitting assists, rocket does too, and between drones and Tsunami DHC, he can keep damage on an assist while remaining safe for the attempt.

Also, beware the THC, I have to keep myself crazy safe to avoid opening myself up for that shite.

And yeah, JDog’s very modest, and Epi’s drawings are top tier.

These are now facts of life around the Nem boards.
