/cheer!
that was pretty much the same reaction the cammys had when jchensor dropped that tip in their forum.
he was like, “its not mine, i learned it from this dude who learned it from that dude who learned it on a mountaintop in tibet.”
It will work with sweep because sweep has higher priority then lk, which has higher priority then lp. Same rules as plinking basically.
Add me any xbl goukens!I generally don’t get dominated. I’m either misunderstood or misjudged, and I can read most everyones game. And I got lotsa isht yall don’t talk about. Bring it.
Empty jump works excellently with my gameplay vs gief. and with some proper spacing you can get a good crossup on gief if you place it right. Same for rufus, cammy…etc.
Be sure to invite me after you’re set up!
People I like beating…fightclubnearu, bandofoutsider,geomodinside(back a few),satyamdas(much respect for his game),
All folks in G1. Good games to all yal!!!
we are trying to post people who beat us so the gouken community can test their skill against them and hopefully gain insight through the comparative discussion.
i would love to hear about how you beat geomodinside though.
he is the best guile i have played against on xbox live.
i believe he is the columbian national champion as well.
he records his sets and uploads them to youtube so hopefully i can find your success there and gain some knowledge.
any techniques that work against him consistently are good guile tips.
takinflight, i went to geom’s youtube channel and i did not see any of your sets with him there, just calipower and mista klutch.
next time you play a long series with him, see if he will upload it to youtube.
it could help all of us learn!
here is geom’s channel for those of you who are interested:
I haven’t played more than 5 games w him but it was months ago, I was majorly underdeveloped and used a pad. Now I’m on a stick and play way different. Cloudryu was hard but beatable. I think what everyone misunderstands about gouken is his crossup game/mixup game. I think we can use the old man and pick apart anyone. Sorry if I misunderstood the thread.
I’d actually like to hear who gives yall trouble. It usually only takes a couple matches before the sweeps and perfetcs start coming out
i put a hit list of players that smoke me in the original post of this thread.
see if you can get some games with them and post your results here.
since i play those guys a lot, i will have a lot of questions for you.
cloudryu is ass. so i hit up ifc today, goal wasnt to win so much as it as to try out a threory of mine. and to an extant it worked, but i scored 0 wins. it was llike 20-0 but let me say most of the matches when i lost it wasnt by much. ofcourse there were the blatent ownage matches but they were not as bad as i am used to vs a good gief.
basically, i was in training mode last night trying to figure out what to do to him. here is what i came up with and it was somewhat effective, but my reaction to certain things coupled with a 3 bar connection and it wasnt so great. anyway, so im sure you guys know that if gief is close enough to do green hand and wiff you can kara grab him or just grab, but kara is more garunteed. Conversely, you can do s.mk, s.fp, or s.hk on reaction to wiffed green hand. This shit does work very good, but i couldnt hit ifc with it cause when he would do it i would react, but eat ultra, thats where the 3 bar shit was an issue. EVERYTIME he did wiff lp green hand it lead to ultra and my grab would not even start to animate and one time my c.mp animated but it was WAY too late. but whatever. also, that damn ex-green hand reaches from hella far, but if by chance gief does wiff you and not even by a little, you can kara grab him. he kind of steps after the move finishes him and that extra step is what you are grabbing. s.mp will also stuff non-ex green hands but you kind of have to be psycic, it does give counter hit though.
c.lk, omg, yes it does SHITTY damage, but its sooooo good at keeping gief at a distance where you are out of lp spd range. its perfect. use it to gague your range, if the tip of the foot hits gief you are good. it also goes under almost all those damn pokes of his. standing mk does smack you out of it without a trade and c.lk trades. also, if you are on your toes, which you need to be, after he does s.mp you can smack him with s.mk everytime or s.mp but its harder. I sat there and just smacked 3 or 4 times right after he would do it before i got carried away and started just throwing it out which lead to eating lariat. vs the jumpins c.mk was able to beat EVERYTHING but if you can take a step forward before you do it you can avoid missing him when he empty jumps. The other thing i did was keep fbs to a minimum and used the hell out of mp fb which was also usefull.
So, in the end i tried to play against gief close but not too close and it wasnt super bad. i think i may be onto something here, but my footsies were not as good as ifc’s so he started to work with it a bit. but, i am confident that if you go about it this way you have a better chance of dealing with the red cyclone. The convincing factor for me was in some of the games when i went to my old method of trying to deal with gief, i got plastered.
I’m pretty sure I said all that last week sometime in another thread.
Using pokes works for a time, but it’s generally a case of one knockdown and dead. Gief only needs that one EX Green Hand and it’s done. You’re right, you outpoke him from normal green hand, but the thing is Gief can outpoke Gouken. I said it before, Gouken CAN make this fight look free, but the effort and concentration needed to get round even some of Gief’s basic tools is ridiculous. If anyone has seen the match at EVO between Edma’s Gief and Wong’s Rufus then that’s how Gouken has to play it also.
Edit: On topic, I haven’t played him for a long while because he hasn’t been online but a French PSN Fei-Long called Evans_95000 should be added to the list. He must have young man hands or something because he hits every single one of Fei-Long’s most difficult links like it’s fuck all. He’s how I devised my strategy for fighting Fei-Long with Gouken also and has a very broad knowledge of the game.
i think read you say some of that in another thread, but i completely forgot. It takes a lot of patience and i was working my ass off to not get pushed to the corner, but consistently ended up there anyway. its gonna be a LONG process to work up to that kind of effort, conentration, and patience. Ill check out that match .
Raun, im surprised you didnt add Tsua on here, his is pretty much the fei long that has consistently given us hell. Thats where i got MY strat to deal with fei.
hey i dont want to be hunted! lol
he is on there.
he is last place though because i have been going even with him!
you are gouken public enemy number one as far as i am concerned!
imitates gouken NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! lol
ONe to add imo is ATLshinblanka. His blanka is just goddamn ridiculous and I couldn’t figure out a good way to approach him after 15 matches with no wins for me. Come to think of it the blanka match in general frustrates me more than anything with the old man. Another subject for another thread though.
He isn’t on my friendslist, but this guy Hugo101’s rufus beat me something fierce on psn.
findmyfarms and blakdanielz
both beast on me using the same character. Cammy. I’m starting to believe that cammy may be the closest thing to a 7-3 matchup. eventhubs having the matchup as 5-5 is funny to me. I strongly believe this is Goukens worst matchup, it doesn’t help that I haven’t gotten into the habit of crouch teching+mk.
