cant say i disagree with all of this, but i figured he’d get at least till the end of the season
As they should be. Now we just hope for a solid GM and we have a future again.
Hopefully by Friday Ritchie will be DFA, and Vidro follows soon.
Amen, Griffey was amazing.
Also as a kid my favorite player was Greg Briley loll
Portland’s ESPN radio affiliate was also reporting on their 20 minute updates yesterday that Bavasi’s replacement as interim GM was asking Mariners brass for permission to waive Richie Sexson. If nobody else picked him up off waivers, the Mariners would be on the hook for the last $7 million of his salary for the last half-season on his contract. From what I’m seeing and hearing, I don’t know if anyone’s going to want to pick him up at $7 mil.
I wish 850AM was actually broadcasted in Seattle as opposed to effing Tacoma…id like to listen to Jim Rome
I just witnessed the most incompetent effort of “closing” I have ever seen in my life. Literally.
Mariners go into the bottom of the 9th in Atlanta up 4-3. Miguel Batista comes on for the save opportunity.
Walk.
RBI double.
Intentional walk off a 2-0 count.
HBP, loads the bases.
RBI single, game over.
Batista’s final line: 0 innings, 2 earned runs, 2 hits, 2 walks (one intentional), one hit batter, BAA 1.000, slugging against 1.500, ERA divide-by-zero.
Un. Fucking. Believable. :wtf:
we need to dump Botchista
Oh, and according to ESPN.com, Batista is making $9.5 million this year. Memo to the Mariners: if you want saves blown that badly, I’ll give you a 9th inning like that one for 30 cents on the dollar of what Batista’s making. No, really. Okay, I draw the line at 25, that’s my lowest offer. Call me.
That was an abomination but there was a game vs the orioles where felix pitched eight scoreless innings over only 97 pitches, and we brought in flaherty and let them tie it for extra innings then lose in the 10th
AAAAAAAAAAAAGH.
A grand slam by the pitcher? This team is crazy.
Yeah, but at least Flaherty managed not to fail to record an out and lose the game in five batters.
I hate you, Carlos Beltran. I hate you and I hope you get cancer. In the ass.
I didn’t know Felix hit a grand slam off Johan Santana. With his eyes closed no less. Crazy.
^–x2 But he just sprained his ankle, so I love Carlos Beltran right now. It had looked like he had destroyed his knee on that dumb dumb play, so a sprained ankle or ten days out? Whatever, it rocks compared to destroying his career. PHEW!
Also, what crazy moon team is playing today? 10-0 in the 6th? Dickey with a shut-out so far?
If firing McLaren really does get them winning again, I think I’m going to be pissed off. wanders off to go find MLB08…

Here’s hoping 4PM is a good moment in Seattle sport’s history.

^-- rumors in the times
Just read the same thing on ESPN. 75 million, eh? So that’s the price tag for all my childhood memories. And that number is reduced significantly if Seattle gets another team.
Blazer’s fans, beware. Allen bought that team only because his bid for the Sonics fell short all those years ago. While he was one of the two that voted against the OKC relocation, I wouldn’t be surprised if he looked to find the Blazers a new home within a couple of years. This, especially given his history with the Rose Garden.
Meanwhile, I’ll root for Schultz.
The lease is terminated.
- $45M initial payment
- $30M paid in 2013 if no new team is found AND KeyArena is renovated
- NBA agrees KeyArena “would work if renovated”
- Seattle gets “early look” at any NBA teams available
- “Sonics” name stays in Seattle
