Season's Beatings III - RESULTS!

i have no clue what was said nor do i care but from what i skim read, but umm its called a tournament look it up in the dictionary on what it means. its not called “whoever beats whoeveer is better than x player” you win, good shit, you lose oh well, either way life goes on and you guys end up at the next one.

check out the definition of competitor too, might help

and amir stop getting 7th at cf tournies!!

i don’t understand what you don’t get about my post… all im saying is… top players sleep on “average”(even above average) way too easily… top players need to keep themselves prepare for everyone… granted one hit may equal death…but there other games like that I.E GGAC, Tekken…

i agree on meeting other people you never get to see too often… also getting drunk is also great… and i do sidebet when the oppurtunies arises… but i guess in a sense im very competive so i guess i feel tournies to me are good measuring stick on how everyone fares… how i fare…

i just feel tournies are little bit more of clutch factor… cuse you don’t have 10 matches (or more ) to sit there an adapt…you have to adapt on the fly…

but it’s all good … you right… we should be going to visit peeps and have good time in the end… so no ill will man…

EDIT: granted i may be just a spectator (i just started playing heh… i guess im late…)…but saying that tournies aren’t a good way to measure up sounds mad weird to me… becuase whenever i step in a tourney i wanna be on top of my game… i want to beat the best when i enter a tourney…

but we can end this… i don’t want this to be like the main focus… becuase SB3 was more than just that…!! lol

:rock::rock::rofl:
didn’t you guys read choi’s story
getting da cheese?

I honestly think its an inevitability that “average” players will remain average to top players unless they lose to an average player 480754807345 times because no one wants to respect anyone except their friends.

I can understand–that people should prove themselves I just after a certain point it gets ridiculous how many chances someone needs to prove their cemented prowess against someone who “should’nt” have beat them anyway. All I’m saying is to at least give some respect to the win at least and hope to play the person again at some point.

That is too true, it really is a popularity contest, but if we can set our favoritism aside, whoever wins the match is the better player, IMO.

Even if 1 hit = KO, who will get that 1 hit? the better player? the worse player???

Some seem to say it is a crapshoot, that some mystical die will be rolled and it will decide who’s hit lands, and who gets spanked in that round.

Now, a first to 10? Just 10 dice rolls? I think we owe it more credit than that. Pick any other game that you consider not to be “1 hit kill” ST?, CvS2?, what is each round, other than a series of these “rolls of the dice”? The winner of each “roll” doesn’t win the round immediately, but he wins that roll, and executes whatever combo, and whoever wins more rolls per round, is the overall winner.

Seriously, pick any game, and show me how it doesn’t boil down to that, as long as both players have access to the same characters, moves, etc.

A players skill CAN, and WILL shift the “rolls” in his/her favor.

As far as close matches are concerned, winner takes all, 9 wins doesn’t get you much in a first to 10, you need that 10th win, those are the terms you agreed upon before starting the match. If you are scared of losing your champion title over a few rolls of the die, then don’t show up, it’s less gay than losing and claiming you’re better than the guy who beat you.

good post

 2 out of 3s show who the better player is now…hahaha tourneys dont prove SHIT lol. Long sets now there no getting lucky there you just get outplayed or you outplay them. Justin Wong lost 2 out of 3s to me/Chunksta in Ohio does that mean we are better than Justin? No because EVERYONE on this site knows if Justin played Both of us in a first to ten we would DIE 100 percent.

ANY solid player can win a 2 out of 3 vs ANYONE

please man then don’t enter em…maybe not to you… but there are people out there (most of em) they enter tourneys to prove themselves… i am one of them…

you telling me you can’t outwit people on the fly…outplay em on the fly… sorry that they even go to tournies if people believe this logic… how bout we just not have tournies?

also i’ve seen plenty of times where people got lucky in long sets…but meh whatever… it happens plenty in many games… there is always gonna be some luck factor involved

really though on the justin factor… he’s that good… so you just gonna take back seat… but nvm it’s been set in stone… so i guess so…

good post

Some people might want different things from tournaments. But it’s the only valid thing to go by. You have to go by it because it IS what is recognized. It’s official, that’s how it works. Tourneys ARE there for people to prove themselves. Its better to deal with how things work, instead of trying to challenge them so badly, its pathetic.

Yeah you have some strong points i cant argue…Good post

man i get the scarastic post… that was a pretty good post… im glad my post was strong you ain’t got no comeback…it’s awesome

but let’s end this shit… cuse i can see you in philly/NY anytime about it… just remember to not enter any tourneys… cuse apparently they don’t play a factor at all

also gg’s to people in ST as well… ill make sure i work on cammy alittle bit… even though she’s weaksauce…

Who did Toan play first round… ? He played SSCC and then MSP and won 2-1 over a pretty good MSP player.

think it was seejay from cali

yeah, seejay

TonyK lost to merdoc 2-1, right? He got beat by some Scrub player… I have to assume it was merdoc so far since only merdoc played that team.

I agree…

Human’s aren’t perfection and some people need to realize that.

Yeah… that pretty much says it all right there.

I got comebacks all day on your stupidity. You’re basically implying that because someone is better they should win every single match. In a game where one touch can kill and a half of second lapse can get you killed. Thats truly retarded.

sam2:

A truly myopic question… Let me answer your question with a question. I got the first hit on justin quite a few times in our money matches. I beat him 2 games in a 3/5. Does that make me a better player? Of course not. Justin Wong is better yet he doesn’t always get the first hit.

Ok so considering your proclaimed criteria for juxtoposition of player ranks: Chunksta is better than Justin Wong… do you type this stuff drunk?

Finally all the scrubs who are saying tourneys are the truth… According to this last tournament, Chris S. is better than yipes, sanford, wong, chunk, Demon Hyo and everyone else who entered the tourney. Furthermore J360 is better than everyone except Yipes and Chris S…Congrats Chris S. best mvc2 player in the world. Congrats J360 on surpassing sanford and wong… /fail

Well I do think Chris is better then everyone on that list except yipes/wong. =) And he’s at least even with sanford.

But fanatiq makes a good point.

Listen, everyone has opinions and blah blah… Truth is anyone can win… This game is so done that at this point it shouldn’t matter no more honestly. Everything contradicts itself so bad on these forums that the only clear way for someone to prove they are better is play marvel 1st to LIFE. In a tournament wins don’t mean nothing, a 1st to 10 wins don’t mean nothing, so wtf means something then? You win then you win, you lose then you lose. Once again as I stated earlier… and i’ll emphasize on it once more. ->…

**“HUMANS AREN’T PERFECT, SO NO ONE WILL WIN ALL OF THE TIME. EVERYONE WINS AND LOSES” **

End of story
