In all seriousness, I’m liking the level of comp in this scene more and more. Entrants used to hate being matched against Nate (and later Mandel and Beasley) early. Now, it really doesn’t matter who you’re matched against. You’re gonna have a challenging fight. Of the 16 players in the first round (we had 1 late entrant in the loser’s bracket), I think new players would have been intimidated by having to face 12 of them. To not lend further bias, I’ll not actually name names.
This is not to say that everyone is necessarily playing at an equally high level. Just that you’re all more familiar with playing each other in addition to getting better at the game. Also, you’ve been communicating more in the last few months, so the names become more recognizable.
Okay, I’m thinking it’d be a good idea, to start Season Three on January 4th, because at least then, I’d be able to run a Marvel tourney. I highly doubt I would be able to run a tourney on the 21st as I’m sure I’ll be working late again. Thoughts?
I’m good with that. I really am gonna try to attend more events once I get another job and get my emissions/tabs renewed.
Mandel and I spoke briefly on Wednesday, and I think it was agreed upon that season 2 is a wrap. Season 3 should kick off on the 4th of January, with Mandel running MvC2 and Nate taking over (I pray) ST duties. This Friday will be a chill affair. This is not to say that no one will be allowed to run events, just that results won’t carry towards any rankings, and people should just look to hang out and play their respective games without the pressures of adhering to any schedule. It also gives us cranky organizers a break.
So I have this shirt here I made from my job that looks exactly like the RUN DMC logo, but instead it says RUN MVC. I think it’s tight and I was thinkin it’d be a cool lil prize for the overall winner of Season Three Marvel.
What do you guys think?
