Hey all Tenchi here and I’m hoping everyone who posts in this thread will read what I’m about to say because I think we have an opportunity to make a prime example of what everyone appears to constantly be telling MuddClub to do.
Now, I don’t read through this thread much so bear with with me. From what I understand the on going debate is MuddClub is far for a lot of people (Mira Mesa area?) , it costs to much (.50 cents a game) , and there was an entry fee ( 2 Dollars ).
What everyone seems to be doing is trying to convince them that if MuddClub drops the prices to 25 cents and has no entry fee, they would be the arcade of choice to play at for most San Diego peeps.
I may or may not be missing a few details. (Correct me if I’m wrong)
But if that is the general idea then I hope that people hear me out on a proposed possible way to prove what everyone is saying.
I remember a little while back a few people recommend that MuddClub set up just one day for a tournament. Put the 3S machine to 25 cents and see what the potential turn out could be. So far it appears MuddClub still won’t have it.
My suggestion?
Do it someplace else and do coverage of the event.
Where?
Well it just so happens Abomination is throwing a Third Strike tournament at Boomers in Vista.
Not only that but the manager himself posted on the thread stating for the day of the tournament he will set the machine from 50 cents to play to 25 cents and he will make sure the sticks and buttons stay in good condition.
So there you all have it. A place with no entrance fee, 25 cents a game, and a set day for a tournament.
I’m assuming the one catch many of you will bring up is it is way up in Vista but it seems the counter argument is if it has everything I want, I will drive there. Also, people drive from SD to play in LA for tournaments and other things.
So here it is everyone. The chance to back it all up. Tournament date is Feb 8th.
I myself will be driving from San Yosidro right on the damn border so I’m as far south as it gets. I will bring my camera equipment to cover the event myself and post it all up.
I’m realllllly hoping everyone who is available can show up. It would be really great to be able to back up what we all say with more than just words.

THat’s a great idea. You can do the section for 3s and i can do the section for MvC2 on Feb 8. I have a camera w/video that i can put on youtube and send it over to you to show proof. I’m sure everyone would like to go to the 3s tourney but Vista is at least 45 mins away from San Ysidro, maybe more. Some of us don’t like that long of a drive there.

Friday, February 8th, huh? If I can get some more of the stuff unpacked from my recent move, I think the wife will be down with me taking a posse up there. 
Granted, I can’t confidently say I’m a tourney-quality 3S player, but I’m definitely willing to go and support…and maybe be a practice dummy.

would people really go? its still a 30-40 minute drive from down here, somebody just made the arguement that regardless of 3s being a quarter for the tourney, its still out of the way, the same arguement could be made for mudd club

people are still at chula vista tilt, on DAT marvel, 50 cents a game with crappy sticks, and those who don’t bother with arcade comp, just play at home in the same core group. are people really gonna go? i think not, just because a lotta people in dego are complacent don’t wanna spend the money (w/e the reason may be)

i’d go on about the other scenes but cvs is non existant outside of me, aaron, dan, jasemac and gaumbomb, every one else who played cvs jumped ship to 3s(shway, hail and kill, not knocking your skills, just making a point) and they play online
Driving is an issue, but its not that far from chula. vista however, is stupid fucking far, like an hour away maybe. console still is the better choice by far no questions asked, hell even evo is held on console, why wouldnt you want to practice console if you go to evo right?
thats my point in fewer words, why are people complaining so much about mudd clubs prices if there gonna play on thier consoles (read as: not go to the place) anyway? if someone could provide a solid reason, I’d probably agree with everybody. Marvel is the biggest scene in Dego, ya’ll got leverage, do somethin with it (vista is nutso far though, and i have no car, that why i’m trying to hitch a ride

Well they’d have more people showing up playing there then they do now. Its a win win situation for them. making 25cents a player is better than not having players play there at all. It wasnt going there that was the problem… it was staying there for a long period of time. With the competition in SD peepz were spending a bunch.
